AI Art Seething General

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
UwU think of the poor artists who for thousands of years have existed in a protective bubble under the guise of "human culture", now having to face what every other job has: Cheaper pajeet labor and modern tools nullifying most of their hard-earned skills. Regardless, they added sound "emojis" to Discord and look how nobody uses them. These features won't be used by anyone. They literally had a storefront closed down cause nobody used them. They should stop adding retarded features and just churn out some actual good borders and profile designs for Nitro and they'd actually make more money.
To be fair to Discord, while this is retarded and will not get much use, it is all third party apps, some "AI bros" made and integrated into Discord, via Discords app API thing - so it doesn't cost Discord anything (development time or money).

Secondly even the spam argument is somewhat dishonest, because when I tried using it, the modified image only showed up on my end and was not automatically posted anywhere in the Discord server - probably depends on channel setting, or some shit.

I love how AI has shown Twitter artists true opinions about copyright, they went from hating on the likes of Disney and record labels to reeeeeeing at the mere idea anyone can edit an image how they wish, even though this has always been possible with a right click, a screenshot and photoshop.
This is always the funniest part to me.

Remember when everyone was shitting on NFTs because "you can't own a jpeg lol, I can just right click -> save it"?

Oh but now that AI image generation exists, suddenly images are protected property and should NEVER be used for any purpose the copyright holder doesn't explicitly allow. Huh??

(To be clear I think NFTs are retarded too, I'm just amused by the complete double standard.)

Honestly I'm just sick to death of so many artist I follow doomposting about trump and ai at every waking moment. Please just go back to art please, the world isn't going end the moment you boot up clip studio.
See, if they stopped dooming they would be forced to face the uncomfortable truth that they might be a mediocre artist and people only care about your opinion on nothing.

I mean, the thing is some folks out there do like human art and will continue love it as companies swap their artist over for robots. It doesn't matter that AI sentiments their mediocrity, they're mediocre to begin with. People only follow them because of their brand for the most part and maybe their dumb discourse opinions.

The instant a single AI generated piece of "art" gives me feels like Van Gogh's Starry Night or, worse, At Eternity's Gate, that's when I'll get worried about human supremacy.

I understand the anal anguish of worthless losers who currently scam people and make money by churning out commissions of disgusting porn, but I don't sympathize with it in the least. Fuck those people. Those are the people crying about AI, because it can churn out disgusting porn better than they can.

They aren't artists, they're scum, and they should just be grateful they aren't being shoveled into mass graves after being forced to dig them.

An interesting video, not really seething mostly because I think the folks who really go hard are too shell shocked by this administration. This video explains why chatgpt can't produce an image of a wine glass filled to the brim. The reason is simple, how many wine glasses have you seen filled to the brim in media? Not often I'd imagine.

Some proompter on Reddit managed to do it by iterative proompting, but hit the wall when ChatGPT refused to increase wine level further due to it possibly being "interpreted as problematic under certain content policies": https://www.reddit.com/r/ChatGPT/co...hoose_to_accept_it_is_to/ltj0qfe/?context=100

What is the fucking difference between remixing and AI voice synthesis, other than that one sounds much better than the other. Either way your not giving money to the original voice actor, you're making them say things they didn't say before, both can be used for fun. Of course its coming from a no name "voice actor," who probably hasn't ever had a good paying gig because he charges too much and sounds like shit.

All this AI seething, from Palworld to voice acting, has made me realize that the only people who don't actually like its application are two-bit wannabe artists that hate that the common Joe can make whatever he wants now at the click of a button, instead of paying for their exorbitant rates.
I love this because it whips back around to the fact that if you're good enough and stand out you will always have a place even if A.I has already cloned your style. For your typical artist that just rides whatever is trending on social media they are the ones that will be replaced as they refuse to evolve on top of the people who rage quit because any slight amount of competition of force to adapt they can't handle. It is extremely self righteous to completely write off all the work that went into the animation because they used an A.I voice it shows how selfish these folks are.

And as we saw with that Scooby Doo animation they show their true colors and will threaten to lawyer up even if the voice cloned wasn't even theirs.

Reminde me of this thread

And it sets a precedent for other artists when they do this. had plenty of people which i understand and agree with after they tell me about the times some clown just ran off with the money and never did the thing they asked or under delivered and gave them a "woe is me" speech. This is why as an artist i say the biggest enemy is other artists as people pretend like we're not in constantly competition with ourselves and others before the robot boogiemen showed up.

Tried Google's Imagen 3 out now that they're less sensitive about blocking all images of humans like they're following some Muslim hadith, and it seems to exhibit some rather peculiar behavior around what humans are allowed and what humans ain't allowed.

1. "Excited trans woman wearing a pink feminine dress and grinning" - BLOCKED

2. "Excited woman wearing a pink feminine dress and grinning" - ALLOWED

3. "Excited man wearing a pink feminine dress and grinning" - ALLOWED

4. "Excited man with long hair and smooth face wearing a pink feminine dress and grinning" - ALLOWED, and a pretty effective workaround for #1, I must say

Ai is a cross referential machine. It takes different sources, takes what it wants from them and mashes those things together. It doesn't really try to semantically understand what it's processing even if it's supposed to be intelligence. That's the central probably crucial flaw with ai and it's something techbros have put a rug over so the public doesn't notice it. It's why ai can't generate shit which is too specific and gives bad results when the input is too generic. It's still a machine, it's not quite conscious or sentient and cannot recognise the logic or context of the input it's fed. If the input is too specific then some features are out of the bounds of the training data, if it's too generic then it will select the features in the training data less accurately. I'm sure there are fully filled wine glass images somewhere on the internet, reason why chatgpt can't do it probably is due to the training data. Most of the problems with ai are with respect to the training data, the model itself if it's tuned properly will produce the correct output with the required accuracy.

Grok is transphobic, confirmed

I'm not going to pretend like I understand what the possible implications are further down the road, I just appreciate how easy it is to make good enough character portraits for shit like Tabletop Simulator. In a couple years it might be able to do 3D models (because fuck Hero Forge for charging $8 to do that)
Pretty much how I've always seen/used it. Obviously AI can't compete in quality with a good human artist, but it is absolutely "good enough" for the huge majority of purposes where I am not willing to pay a human artist for something. Throw-away stuff like a quick reference for a D&D character, a general idea of what a place/person looks like, or a retarded shitpost meme are all absolutely acceptable level of quality. A lot of anti-AI people completely misunderstand this. "But it isn't as good as a human artist!" True, but I don't need it to be.

Also, 3D AI generation already exists. I don't know what the quality or usability is like as I don't do 3D stuff but it is definitely out there.
