AI Art Seething General

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
How the hell are you going to get attention as a human artist, animator, musician, actor, etc when the entire internet and streaming services are filled to the brim with quickly churned out indistinguishable AI content?
Do you have any idea how fucking sick people are of AI slop content already? This shit is brand new and even porn sites are already adding ways to opt out because nobody wants to see soulless unedited art-egregore output. By the time AI can actually fully replace human artists and creators for those who give any semblance of a fuck about the quality of what they consume, it'll already be running most of this planet because it'll probably be self-aware.
>b-b-but retarded niggercattle consume it!
They also consume absolute dogshit content made by humans, what's the difference? All this is doing is raising the bar for being noticed as an artist from "better than a sea of talentless, passionless internet retards" to "better than a machine that can perfectly emulate the output of a sea of talentless, passionless internet retards on demand and tailor it to a prompt". It is not hard to be better than that, and luck was always the primary factor in being a "successful" (read: makes money off of art) artist anyway.

Is it too much to ask human creators to be more creative and stand out in the field if they want that attention? It's not an impossible task, we've seen the internet content stream expand a hundredfold with in a few decades, ultimately a few managed to stand out.

You have the mainstream western animation industry suffering a slow decay for years, now having labor disputes about AI. On the other hand, you have indie animation online getting popular, such as Glitch production series such as The Amazing Digital Circus and Gaslight District making a major splash in the cultural zeitgeist. One is currently fighting for labor rights, the other is investing into their own production, and it's clear the latter is winning.

The part of the reason why people are attracted to AI is because it feels new and innovative, the only way to beat that is feeling new and innovative to the same audience, with the usage of AI or not. They only solution that was ever available was to compete.

This level of doomerism seems to really undercut the precedence of resilience of humanity within the free market.

I’m sorry but people are generally dumb it’s not that out there to be doomer about it. Especially since if you wanna blow up you have to adhere to what the algorithm wants. Unless you get real lucky and get recommended randomly. People have the retention of flies now.

If you do get picked up on Amazon prime or something the seasons of tv-shows have been getting shorter and shorter. For some shows it works okay but if you have a more complex story it’s iffy.

I wish people started breaking off from YouTube and TikTok and start going to other platforms like odessy or rumble. Less likely to nuke your channel randomly and gives you a bit more freedom. I don’t know if those algorithms are any better or worse than the main platforms though.
you actually believe this, you're retarded.
I don’t think so the dead internet is becoming more and more of a thing by the day.

Yeah it’s a tool as the nuclear bomb is.
Yea crazy, a sect of useful idiots arguing something will be the destruction of the entire universe because they believed the propaganda of people who stand to financially gain from it? Interesting.

By going outside and not spending their entire lives online. Art galleries exist, local shows do too, film shows exist, local pubs will often let you perform music if you're not dogshit or you can just go sit on the street and perform. In fact especially if you're any form of performer then doing those small gigs is incredibly important, jumping in as a headliner at a massive concert is not a good idea if you have never sung live before, regardless of how many meaningless updooties you have online. Believe it or not but art has existed for at least a couple decades before the internet has. Even now, what some six months after image gen has been as good as even the highest quality artists, people are still posting on twitter and people are still making new accounts that get a new following. Around 90% of the tweets I see on twitter are text only posts that I can't even fucking read, there's plenty of room in my feed and probably everyone else's to shove more art posts in, be they AI or not.
Especially since if you wanna blow up you have to adhere to what the algorithm wants.
If an artist arts on a website but no one is subscribed to see it, did they art at all?

Fun fact but you know people like Michelangelo, Van Gogh, fucking Da Vinci and Shakespeare, even newer artists like that flood of amazing musicians from the 20th century; you know like those obscure guys called the Beatles? Absolutely not fucking one of them had even one single youtube subscriber. The Iliad and Odyssey are two of the most famous pieces of writing in existence and the person who made them couldn't even fucking write let alone tell people to smash like and hit the bell icon on the final page.

Ever since the dawn of AI people have been saying the same shit. If art is an expression of humanity then why does it need money? Since when did my brain's ability to express itself have a fucking coin slot I need to put coins in to make it work like a kids novelty ride outside a supermarket? Needs money to be a career, yes. But is a hobby artist not still an artist? Art has existed since before the concept of an economy much less actual currency, why did those artists do their art if they didn't have a financial reason to do so? Everyone wants to complain that AI is stealing their jobs, yet I'm a fucking horrible racist when I say that maybe our government giving major tax reductions to a group of people that famously use more taxpayer resources than they contribute is a bad idea and that maybe importing a new class of borderline slave labour to undercut actual wages and price native people out of the lives they were promised is not a good thing and much worse for the average man than AI stealing your job is? And I'm a schizophrenic conspiracy theorist when I say that the entire argument of AI stealing jobs is a smokescreen to allow government and corporations quietly push through new technologies to spy on you and absolutely fucking decimate your privacy and autonomy while you're too busy arguing about the poor little twitter artists, despite the fact that my authoritarian censorious government is already heavily pushing AI powered facial recognition software for the police to use on anyone they want and will soon be using AI to scan your internet usage? Once again yea, it is just like the atom bomb, used by a malicious group of higherups to create propaganda that useful idiots will spew so they can get what they want.

If you took any of the obsessive anti-AI seethers and gave them the most powerful server in the world with the most advanced AI currently in existence, not one of them could create anything like that IGORRR video.

I was talking more in the context of making a show on something like YouTube and trying to get it views and funded through Amazon or Netflix like glitch did, since they brought it up. A lot of has shifted since the streaming age, if you do really want to “make it” you’re gonna have to have some sort of page. You can still do live performances and go to galleries but if you want networking and further reach you’re gonna have to play the algorithm game. It’s why so many people do nothing but fanart or whatever bandwagon is happening that day. It sucks but how shit works as of now.

It’s gonna kill the entire creative field and possibly the internet. Look at Google veo 3. How the hell are you going to get attention as a human artist, animator, musician, actor, etc when the entire internet and streaming services are filled to the brim with quickly churned out indistinguishable AI content? It’s been happening on TikTok with fake music and video. It’s gonna happen everywhere soon.
I don't think anything really changes that much. Oh, this is a fucking nightmare for actually doing any research but for being an artist? You already had to deal with an ocean of people that were already competing in the marketplace of ideas. Getting anywhere is reliant on making an identity for yourself not on your output, unless you are aiming for a gruntwork studio job which already seems horrible to work in. It's the same with other changes like the rise of digital artists and 3d software. The smart ones adapt and keep going while the dull ones slip away by refusing to change gears.

I've already been trying to bypass the algorithm by getting buddies of mine to put qr codes in popular areas that go to whatever new art piece or upload I have out. People probably think I'm a terrorist lol.

you’re gonna have to play the algorithm game
Why though? Anti AI retards have been screaming the same thing for years now. Anyone can be an artist, I could go out and char some wood in a fire and draw on a rock to make art, that's what they all say, yet now you have to play the algorithm game and all this shit. If you're trying to do something as a career then yea of course you're going to have to network and do all that faggy shit, same for every other job that pays above minimum wage. Same goes for just making something and posting it on youtube. Starting a channel has always been sheer luck and marketing anyway, standing out from a sea of AI dogshit is just as the other days worth of dogshit uploaded to youtube every second. You don't need to do any bullshit seo stuff, art is still art even if you're not doing it for a job.

If your career plan is to post shit on youtube and just fucking hope then you are retarded and would have failed before or after the invention of AI video.

My time has come.

If you use AI voice acting, I will not tell people to play your game. I will dismiss it if I find out it does have AI voice acting. There are plenty of free or cheap sources of people wanting to voice act for your game.

You can break out the shoddy microphone; at least it'll be charming.

Some choice replies:
‪beefmccat: ...right? So many people use it and say "I can't afford a VA". As if the thought never occurred to them to try and be creative with their own voice
‪Gorillazzilla‬: The guy who made "A Fox in Space" comes to mind every time, that guy animated and voiced his stories, except for the voice of Fara, that was someone else he's friends with.

TheZRK: Even good old TTS programs have preferable charm to that uncanny slop; with even the tiniest amount of skill and effort one can do infinity better.

Fastolph: Animal Crossing style voices blblblbl

eccitaze: Or, just do random barks or squeaks and save yourself from needing to localize your audio for multiple different languages...

Draeneth: I basically blacklist a game the second I hear AI VA in it. As someone who does VA stuff for friends, just DO it, show people you care.

forbiddengloop: ...or hire Spacey. His smooth voice goes down like scotch and hits the ear holes like cream after wandering the desert.

Vermont the Seagull: I don’t care about how much passion was put into the game; the AI voices stink the rest of the project up so bad.

TalanStrider: People who run to AI to generate anything creative for their product are so out-of-touch. We're done with generic, corporate, average, algorithmic; and AI is exactly designed to give you the mathematical average of what you ask it. Charm, on the other hand, is underrated and makes games memorable.

Zaiawurf: As a goofy amateur voice actor I would LOVE to help voice people's projects here and there... the fact reliance on AI could just wipe all that away is sad...

Xats: Go old school and voice filter it into something spooky that you actually need to read for. You could also try some oldschool TTS and get some Decisive battle voice outta it.

Vausch The Puca‬: You can use your limitations. Make the shoddy mic part of the story if you can. Smiling Friends made a joke with Wimbly being from a 32-bit game caused his audio to be compressed so his yelling caused the mic to clip.

It's a lot easier, psychologically, to blame a lack of artistic success on the biggest producer of lowest-common-denominator competitors to your art than to accept that you're basically doing coin flips like BMJ and trying to hit it big, just with more effort involved. In the current day that producer is almost always an AI model of some kind. Before AI these same people were bitching about trend-chasers who were making the exact same kind of low-effort content, but slower. Post-AI, if that happens, they'll surely find a new target.

They aren't realistic about their skill level or their chances, sometimes because they're too sensitive and sometimes because they're too narcissistic. They would rather complain that the market they are willingly competing in is unfair and should change than take an honest look and adapt to their surroundings, because they truly think they're the next Michelangelo or Hemmingway or Kubrick or whatever, or that they could be if people would just acknowledge the worth of their output. As much as it can be easy to look at modern mass-media trash and think "the shittiest thing I've ever written/drawn/composed is better than that" (and be correct), that doesn't mean you're a genius and it doesn't mean you deserve millions of dollars and a Hollywood contract or whatever. It just means you're better than slop, saying nothing of your mass appeal, which barely correlated to success.

The funniest thing about this behavior is juxtaposing it with the sheer number of historical genius artists who died before anyone ever acknowledged the value of their work. These people have it 1000x easier than any artist from the pre-information age and they're still bitching just because they don't like the rules of the game. If you're not winning, look at what other people are doing to win and copy them, or give up on winning and do your own thing. It's not that hard.

Pretty sure that is horseshit. So what would have been AAA of 90's. Command and conquer. Well checks out... Professional voice actors.
for every game, no. but theres a lot of titles from that era that were trying to save money by not hiring professional voice actors, or at least not many of them. pretty sure Alien vs Predator: Extinction is one of them
