Well, if you're curious, AI Dungeon is basically dead now.
It's certainly dead on Reddit, with only 60-someodd users. The sex abuse scandal-- oh wait, sorry, the VERY PUBLIC RESPONSE TO IT THAT SUSPICIOUSLY OFFENDED ALL OF REDDIT AND DISCORD-- is what killed it.
There's hardly any user content that actually gets visible. On the one hand, virtually all of the sex/furry stuff is now filtered out and will never see human eyes. On the other hand, no one with actual talent or care, and hardly anyone with imagination, uses the site.
AI Dungeon has steadily monetized to offset this, using an Energy system similar to what was found in the likes of Triple Town (and what is still sorta found in Writing.com for the Interactives/Choose-Your-Own-Adventures/Cancer-Inducing-Porn), but they've recently decided on what amounts to giving up: starting on June 30th, they're going to let people buy the monetization-less format, with unlimited uses, on Steam.
This is kind of unfortunate, since the new AI they were developing for the paid format is pretty neat, and I can't imagine they've made their money back in any sense of the phrase.
