What are the qualities/qualifications you look from a caregiver?

Do you have a trial period to see how well you guys fit/work together?

What are some red flags in caregivers I should look out for if I'm ever in need of one?

What's the biggest misconception people have about caregivers?

What care will the carer do as apposed to Noah? Balancing it etc.

Continuation of previous answer

What are the responsibilities of the caregiver?

How much care do you require a day?

Is finding a carer on Craigslist normal? She's so vulnerable, I would hate to have to be in the position to need someone around 24/7.
I can only speak for the UK but social care is a nightmare generally. you find carers where ever you can. Facebook, word of mouth. Agencies are very expensive and have little availability often only catering to the elderly. Care.com, Craigslist and social media are fairly standard places although you'd expect to ask for DBS checks here not sure what background checks the US offers.

In my part of Euroland, it's through word of mouth or agencies. There are public and private agencies, but the state can pick up the majority of the bill (depending on revenue). Nursing homes are full and there's a long wait list (1-5 years, depending on the area) for everyone except the most severe cases.
But most people want to stay home, and it usually costs less to the state to let people stay at home and pay for carers and nurses to pop in a few times a day.
Agencies have a legal obligation to run background checks, but anyone hired independently doesn't. So good luck with that.

Alex gets sick and instead of seeking proper healthcare has a mobile IV bar come out. I'm gobsmacked they are prepared to touch her. She must have signed one hell of a waiver.

????

Like actual IV meds or just IV cocktails which you just pee out? Because determining what you need would be an infusion nurse through a home health care company and involve blood work to determine what you’re low on, or orders from an md saying you need xyz through IV access.

IV cocktails are utter crock. Iv vitamins get peed out if you’re not actually low on them. Seriously, they’re scams.

I know the IV bars in my neck of the woods who come to you advertise they’ll give toradol and Benadryl in some of their “packages” along with the pee out vitamins and other random woo.
Edit: double checked, they also do zofran, reglan, b12, then on to all the woo such as NAD+, Myers cocktails, glutathione, etc

Are these licensed doctors? Zofran and Reglan are prescription only in the US. I looked one up around me and they do Myers and NAD+ as well but absolutely none do any infusions with actual medication.

Some random person giving out Benadryl and other meds with no medical oversight seems like a great lawsuit. I’m not talking about the actual iv insertion, but rather what happens if someone becomes suddenly allergic to a med or has a bad reaction or something. Or because these places don’t require you to prove your medical history, some other complication occurs. Like your meds interfering with another med, completely unaware.

In a proper medical setting, these are non issues. A reaction can be dealt with, a dr or pharm would check for drug interactions, but like at home..yikes.

Even if the person administering it is a nurse, still sounds like a terrible idea esp with no vetting system on the patients side (unless there is one?). A dr can check what meds you take and look at a chart (though people do lie), they can test to see what levels you’re at for vits if you’re complaining of a symptom ther could be caused by a vit deficiency,

Like what if a patient is pregnant and they know but the place doesn’t ask or check. Or the patient lies. Pees sticks are done all the time in hospitals for a reason.

Sorry. This just makes me so mad because I know NPs who promote this shit. How can you be educated and degreed and promote fucking IV vitamins for anyone who pays for it.
