Well, the pilot was okay. Kind of pedestrian in terms of look for something directed by Jonathan Nolan, but I wasn't hugely offended. Not hugely...

I know this is a TV show, but it just doesn't look as cinematic as it should. The cinematography, I mean. Give me Westworld season 1-levels of quality and I would be happy. But it's acceptable.

The vault stuff was pretty good. Everything looked great. I like our lead (she's gorgeous and looks like she could have walked out of a 50s ad), but I don't like the lameass pandering to the mythical female viewer who wants to see male ass but would be deeply offended by seeing tits. Give me a break. Awful lot of fat people in the vault, which doesn't make much sense if they're on a regimented diet...

The BoS stuff is really flat and doesn't have the edge it should. I blame that on Maximus's actor not giving a great performance. (It's not bad, just not great.) But the script in those sections isn't what it should be, either. The suits looked better than I expected, but they don't look great either. I don't believe for a second there would be a living they/them anywhere in the post-apocalypse, ugh... that faggot bullshit would disappear immediately when the world fell apart, and that woman would be tweezing her eyebrows and looking for a guy to take care of her.

I love Walton Goggins, and know I will like everything to do with The Ghoul. Still, they seem to be pulling punches with the gore (everything is off screen or in darkness), and I don't like that.

I giggled when I saw Johnny Pemberton in the cast... it looks like they've got a lot of comedians and comedic actors in the show, which is cool.

I dunno. I'll keep watching.

Yeah, that's about what I expected. Similar salt to reddit/4chan/twitter.
This is going to be a gift that keeps on giving, last time I saw fallout "fans" this riled up was during Frontier controversy and even that game is more lore friendly than this.

There’s more gore in the second episode for sure, lots of stuff like you’d see in the games when shooting off limbs, and there’s even some “camera is right behind the bullet” shots like in the game, if that’s your thing!

I watched the final boardroom scene because I was told that not only House was in it but also Sinclair for some reason and honestly I think this show is perfect.

If I were to put together a package that encapsulated everything wrong with modern day western society I'd just put this show in a USB stick. It's honestly incredible that everything you could think of that you hate in modern society is here, from the anti-capitalist sentiment to the obvious push for racemixing, the crazy gender shit, the Marvel era goyslop, every single bit and piece of Clown World is present in this show.

There is a scenario posited by ACE in Fallout 2 that would explain why a nuclear war no existing human faction would really benefit from could happen.

Most true AI (all developed for military purposes) either became suicidal/insane or busied themselves by "creating situations in the outside world for their amusement".

This seems to be the most likely cause (or at least a significant contributor) for a global nuclear war that various faction are preparing for but also want to avoid. These machines have almost nothing to lose or gain from this other than busying themselves with what a military AI is not only capable of, but what they were designed for.

In any case, these machines certainly don't sound like they helped matters.

The only way to watch it and enjoy it is to see it as a different timeline then the games or just in a different state entirely. Otherwise you'll want to avoid it/ rage about it. I got up to episode 5 as of this post.
 
Been 5 episodes in and i don't think its terrible, its decent except when it comes to Maximus... that nigger is written so poorly and unredeemable. Maybe thats the point, make him the villain in the long run?

But every scene with him is a waste of time and if i ever rewatch the series i know what i am gonna skip.

I liked the show. I thought it was one of the better video game adaptations out there, which is a very very very low bar.

I’ve found the salt to be far more entertaining. Especially by NCR fanboys.

I knew in that regard it was going to be salty from what I could see in the trailers. There’s a whole fan fic about Todd Howard hating the NCR and NV that’s spreading through the spergiest fans like wildfire. As someone who preferred the other factions besides the NCR I find it absolutely hilarious. It was very clear in NV that without the active assistance from the courier that the NCR was fucked. They already lost the long nine, which is where I think someone in the props department mixed up, and if they got hit again on the trade route to NV they’d be doubly fucked. If that happened and Shady Sands got bombed, I would fully expect the NCR to be in this sad sorry state. They clearly were still acting out of the capital building so I don’t think the NCR is completely dead just very very weak. But the tears from NCR trannies have been absolutely delicious.

Part of what makes it funny to me is that there’s a clear disconnect between the most extreme autists and everyone else. Somehow though the funniest sperging isn’t from Twitter bios with pronouns crying about the NCR falling. No it’s from arch and his most autistic fans. I couldn’t help myself by laughing my ass off at him and some of the other groups online that are acting like it’s worse than Halo. With some of the content creators I assume they’re grifting but I think Arch and many of his fans are genuinely having meltdowns.

What I find funny is that the messaging is anti-woke and specifically ‘anti-end of the world’ fear mongering.

What I mean by this is that vault tech is about the end of the world as a product. Not so unlike a lot of environmentalist groups and specifically green corporations. Part of their problem in the pre-bomb period is that the war might end. Which would be an end to the grift. More importantly it means an undercutting of their narrative that resources are finite. If suddenly energy production was increased in a cost effective and minimally damaging manner, it’d fuck their entire plans. The whole plot is about them trying to prevent nuclear power specifically cold fusion technology from reaching the masses. Irl who is opposed to the adoption of nuclear energy tech to alleviate the strain on limited resources?

Vault tech also wants to wipe out all of humanity to reduce its numbers and start fresh. Which is something some rich progressives have unironically supported. Furthermore, the guy who tells them that the whole idea is retarded is Mr House who also mocks some of the other guys for not being able to turn a profit.

More importantly the most evil character in the show is a black woman. Do you think that would normally fly in most Hollywood productions? That the character with more blood on her hands than Hitler would be a PoC? And that the guy who tells her plan is retarded is a cis white billionaire?

The one tranny character that’s in the show, probably by mandate, hurts herself like a bitch to get out of the front lines. Not exactly something that a strong Wahmen of color and queerness would ordinarily do in a SJW film. Normally she’d be upstaging everyone and telling them to keep their privilege in check. The fact she wussed out like a total bitch was a complete surprise to me.

It’s also very clear that anyone who wasn’t with the system/vault tech was labeled a communist, not unlike how everyone who disagrees is called a fascist irl.

Also the whole chalkboard thing is funny to me as well because a lot of autists are fixated on that one prop instead of when the show is said to take place which is 2296. So if the bombs hit shady sands in 2277 that’d be 19 years in the past which would make Maximus way too old. If he was 10 it’d make him at least 29 or 30.

They do make some genuine mistakes/retcons specifically the title of squire which was given to children. And in general I felt that they could’ve shown more of the BoS outside the paladins. I would’ve liked to see more of the scribes. They made them a bit more religious than I thought they were but the BoS already changed a few times throughout the games.

And in regards to Maximus he’s kinda an asshole. He’s not as likable as Lucy and he genuinely makes several selfish decisions. This would not normally fly in most Hollywood or even video game studios today because he’s black. Nor did they mention race, gender, or oppression once. I do think he was the weakest character but I didn’t hate him like how I hate most of the halo characters.

My guess is that independent Vegas is the ending they’re going with. Personally I’d rather House won because I’d like to see more of him in the show and in future games potentially.

Anyways that’s my 2 cents. I’m going to go back and laugh at Arch sperging out over mole hills and trannies crying about the NCR rising again.

So, I just remembered that Schizo Elijah posted his reaction to the trailer for this thing 4 months ago. Now that the dust has settled, feel free to check how accurate his predictions were
Speaking of which, apparently that guy actually was a schizo and now quit his channel to find god? Fallout community is a crazy place, if you enjoyed his vids I would archive them right now while you can.

Edit: He made a little machinima right after that video and it's actually better than the "Brotherhood Conflict" in the show
Seriously, when the NCR and Brotherhood actually throw down in the show, it looks like a bum fight. You're telling me we went from Helios One to this? Even Frontier got the scale and vibe of the big Brotherhood-NCR war better.

Oh, Frontier got plenty of laughs out of me, just unintentionally. See, Frontier does have an entertainment value, despite it's many, many flaws. I cannot see any value in this show unless you literally never heard of Fallout before.

So apparently the entire premise of the story is to take a big, fat, petty, "The past must die, kill it if you have too" to the entire story of Fallouts 1, 2 and New Vegas. So glad I didn't bother even caring about it.

Also, LOL at retconning the USA being nuked by the Chinese and just saying it was Vault Tec that did it. Commies deserve the rope.
