Amazon Studios to develop series based on Fallout

I don't know any of the context of how this scene began but it's still really weird and doesn't help sell the show.
The guy is like some random radio operator who had a shoot out outside his radio station. He doesn't know either character.

Got 4 episodes in before the "comedy" made me quit. I was hoping for something not so... childish?

The Marvelfication of shows and movies has been atrocious, everyone has to be some witty smart ass at all times and serious moments will often get played off with some goofy one-liner, not matter the genre or setting.

God it's so tiresome, I really want something serious but when almost every b-plot is about manchildren the whole world is cheaper. The whole Brotherhood of Steel is a joke that can't be taken seriously now because the writers wanted some cheap lols

Well, I thought I may as well mosey on back to the thread I created to give my two cents.

For some reason, not related to the then upcoming show but actually some youtube compilation of old timey vidya, I found myself playing fallout 1 and fallout 2 for the first time in my life a week ago.

Took me a while to get used to it....a long while....a real long while.....fucking christ the inventory system makes me want to commit hate crimes....but eventually it clicked and I was busy running around and unironically enjoying the games and despite its age I started to realise why this shit has been so beloved for decades. Moreover while I loved fallout 3 back when it came out and still do now....albeit with my current autistic modset, I really began to comprehend the critiques I heard of the game way back when from the tone to the aesthetic and bethesda's ever more overt obsession with crowbarring scuffed 1950s schtick atop scuffed mad max schtick into every square inch of the setting solely because MUH AESTHETIC.

In some cosmic irony I had begun a replay of Fallout 1 and was about to head out of Shady Sands when the spoiler tsunami hit. An hour or two of doomscrolling later and it became apparent that whatever their initial concept may have been in the late 00s, all that exists now in bethesda's creative mindset is a beige perpetual wasteland mush wherin the only groups that exist beyond endless megaton clones are their dime store knockoff imperium (the brotherhood of steel), their ever more tedious CAPITALISM EVIL GUIZ now buy our shit strawman (vault-tec), and the predictable MURICA BAD incarnate that is the Enclave. Ironically none of which were their own creation, and of their own OCs the only one with any vague popularity has been the Children of Atom with the "serious" factions all being either non entities or memetic clusterfucks.

I may have not been as much a super fan of New Vegas as others even if I liked it more than 3 and 4, and I have probably sperged at length elsewhere about how shallow I find shit like Caesar's Legion and the NCR in that game, but atleast the story in that game was more than just "anarchic junkyard wasteland featuring the not-in-space marines" and made some attempt at showing there was more shit going on in the world than the protagonist and main hero faction and villain faction. But I guess that clashed with muhaesthetic so better to just wipe away all the worldbuilding and storylines from 1/2/new vegas instead of setting the show on the east coast or I dunno fucking texas or somewhere.

So yeah, I was never going to watch this series even before LAWD DEM RAAAAANGZ made watching an amazon prime series about as tempting as watching flies fuck, but after hearing the aftermath I am pretty sure we can add one more franchise to the pyre unless they pull some "actchully it was just an adaptation and its own continuity guiz" shit

No, even the isolated vault with only the best pure genes looks like this now

Enter the Vault, if you dare...

2 days ago his community post was shilling for the TV show, Broken Roads and subtly for fallout:london. Sorting remaining comments by new.

Yeah the post came right after that one. And he deleted it like a bitch.

I can't fathom why people would be defending it. The only place I saw large scale defense for it was on the Fallout subreddit but I don't take reddit seriously.

Edit: YongYea has recieved the Amazon check and is telling us, the public, how good the show is and how it "gets" Fallout and how cool it is.

I hate how Lucy was a Retarded Vault Dweller through the entire show, even after all the shit she saw. You'd think she would have had a big moment when she comes out of the Superduper Mart and stop being a idiot, but no! She's still as retarded as before but she has a gun now!
Lucy isn't even just retarded, if she's a stand-in for someone's Player Character OC, she's basically a coomer's vault meat character that someone made only to see her fuck. I mean, she almost gets raped by a raider in the first episode(wanted to willingly fuck him before she found out who he is), keeps talking about breeding constantly, canonically incestual, really wants to fuck the nigger badly(bestiality) and there is pregnancy/gulper impregnation meaning that the player has installed pregnancy mods as well.
Lovers Lab is the canon way to play Fallout now, according to the people behind the Prime show. The fact that she's always stupid and naive is not a bug, it's a feature, makes for more sexy time when she gets captured by some wastelander, raider or creature. Honestly, I'm surprised she didn't fuck the dog or the ghoul too.

My big beef is how they handled the catalyst for the initial plot, the capture of Hank McLean by the commie witch whose name escapes me.

The purported villainess that captures Lucy's dad seemed like an interesting antagonist whose motivations were, at the same time, noble and selfish, but whose methods were definitely not ideal. The kind of character you want to see on the receiving end of some kind of deserved comeuppance. Then all the nuance is thrown away when it's revealed she was a gud girl who dindu nuffin and was totally justified in killing vault dwellers. Plus, the solution she and her company had for the greater good was bought by le ebil capitalists back in 2077 because it was not profitable. Also, the dad was evil all along. By the middle of the third or fourth episode, I was already predicting they would twist Lucy's search and Hank's character, and I was not at all surprised they went with that path.

Is it even explained how the commie witch lived that long without being ghoulified? Was she also inside one of those fancy hibernation capsules?

Oh yes, when called out by the future Ghoul on her hypocrisy, she just brushes it off with "so what, you're also hypocrites, also commies are good actually, you're the ones who don't get it."

To top it off, she dies after fending off the invading BoS in vain, but having "accomplished" the dream of an endless energy source for da peeps. Wonderful. Had she survived and taken over the whole thing, this could have been salvaged. A good thing that benefits everyone, but mad with power and grief, she decides to take the worst possible path and uses it for her own benefit instead. Now the writers' hackneyed idea of a Brotherhood of Steel get to reap the glory of this unsung heroine.

And of course, it was chock-full of tiny little member-berries for the fans. Pip-Boys galore, raiders, characters saying "War Never Changes," Sunset Sarsaparilla outdoor ads, Cram and Sugar Bombs being visibly eaten, the occasional Vault Boy bobblehead... My brother and I clapped when we saw them all!
Speaking of which, my brother was the more excited of the two to watch this, since he's actually played every single Fallout game there is, and he was quite happy to keep me up to date on Fallout lore and tidbits as we watched. By the time we finished marathoning it, none of us spoke of it for the rest of the day. Something tells me he didn't enjoy these particular twists and retcons.

So yeah, I think my household contributed to this travesty getting a second season. This ain't getting better, I just know it.

So, that whole storyline with Vault 4 was basically filler, right? Like, the whole point of it is that they build up that something is wrong with the vault only to reveal that there's nothing going on at all, nothing bad was ever going to happen, the protag just gets told to do what they were already planning to do, and this all only happened because everyone was being needlessly secretive about the mutated vault dwellers being mutated because the vault experimented on them. At best you could argue that it cements the main characters' relationship... After both characters have basically just met and have had no actual interaction since they spent most of this storyline apart.
she almost gets raped by a raider in the first episode(wanted to willingly fuck him before she found out who he is)
I mean, I'm pretty sure they DID fuck. That's why he's wiping his dick on the curtains when he gets up to get a drink after they lie back and rest. On that note, nobody among the vault dwellers who've never interreacted with radiation seem concerned at all that Lucy might have been impregnated with radioactive sperm, or that they now have a bunch of irradiated raiders in their vault.

My big beef is how they handled the catalyst for the initial plot, the capture of Hank McLean by the commie witch whose name escapes me.
It's more than just a capture of one person. She also murders a bunch of people from Vault 33 including maiming and killing of pregnant women. And sets up an innocent girl to be raped and murdered when she think that she's getting married. She could have taken Hank without lifting a finger as he'd likely have gone with her willingly to spare his daughter and rest of the Vault 33 inhabitants. Instead a bunch of people are needlessly murdered and raped by Jet addicts.

If this is how people behave on the surface then Hank was absolutely justified in wiping them out with a nuke and starting all over.

Her motivations make zero sense. She has an infinite power source. Instead she's busy organizing mass murders and mass rapes. As if that won't result in her getting revenge killed or making the overall wasteland far more dangerous because vigilante justice is encouraged. She's literally just as bad as a corporate criminal as anyone on the show. Willing to murder and rape to "make the world a better place".

Hank's nuking of the surface makes sense if the surface was too dangerous to get a cold fusion project up and running. If it means creating a stable power source for the entire wasteland but having to wipe out the raider groups it would be worth it easily.
Is it even explained how the commie witch lived that long without being ghoulified? Was she also inside one of those fancy hibernation capsules?
She invented the pods. They made it pretty clear that a nigger woman, her character, invented every single thing on the show. The robots, the vaults, cold fusion, and so on. She's the next Tesla or Marconi.

100%. Basically a monster of the week xfiles episode so someone get insert their vorebreeding fetish.

Its really fucked up when you think about it. She knew hank had a daughter and purposely set her up to be "raped" and then murdered. Then goes on about how much she cares about her mother at the very end.

I've seen some people say the show is good or ok if you never played a Fallout game. On the bright side since this is an adaptation (they say this alot in interviews) 1,2 and New Vegas is still canon in the games... unless Todd fucks it all in Fallout 5. Here's an idea since Microsoft owns Bethsaida and InXile then why not have InXile make a good Fallout game.

If you never played a Fallout game you are going to get confused about half the shit in this tv show. The other half was done much better elsewhere, no this is a piece of media aimed almost exclusively for the fans...except the writers hate the fans and took a shit in their mouth, making it a question who would actually unironically want second season of this(except for maybe bethesda fans, the human equivalent of a free bingo card spot when it comes to sales).

InXile is already working on their game right now, an RPG that looks like a mix of Outer Worlds and Bioshock Infinite so I am definitely signed up for that already. Even if they weren't, I doubt Microsoft would care enough to give Bethesda's IP to someone else, remember this is the same company that didn't care when their flagship Xbox franchise(Halo) was being raped in the closet for over 10 years straight.

The Fallout discord is drowning on the cooping up. I could legit posts some of the most deranged posts if anyone wants to check it out and not have the displeasure of being in that server (I do it so you dont have to).
If the milk is good, post it here or in the Fallout thread over on the gaming subforum. I am certainly not going to any discord.

The virgin Amazon Fallout dialogue
Gets even more bizarre. Can't have a romance between these incredibly awkward characters without strange cuck themes. I don't know any of the context of how this scene began but it's still really weird and doesn't help sell the show.
Holy shit thank God I didn't watch past the second episode.

What gets me about the "comedy" they are trying to portray is that it would work if they didn't try it so often. In the end, every line in every conversation is like they are constantly choosing the FO4 "sarcastic" option. The part where the turret rises up with the sign that says "PLEASE STAY CALM" was the closest thing I saw to a good comedy bit that and the BoS Paladin handing the black guy his Power Armor groin piece and yelling at him to clean it to get him to shut up.

I think this all culminated in this one moment for me:

e.png

Why the fuck is he wearing that? What could that possibly protect him against? Why does no one care that everyone inside "Filly" is getting shot? And the same old questions that could be ported over from FO4. Why the fuck do people still act like the bombs dropped yesterday? Compare the each centutry of the Earth to its previous one and the differences are massive. 200 years is a shitload of time.

Being a ghoul should be near torment, instead the cowboy ghoul is a superhuman. Other than "going feral" every aspect of being a ghoul is better than being a human, why isn't everyone just eating radioactive barrels?

How the fuck is ONE guy taking out a whole fucking town? It isn't like he had a plan, he just stands in the middle and autoaims while no one thinks of shooting him in the head. No one outside seems to hear the gunshots either.

The part where the turret rises up and shoots the scientist is retarded, makes me think that the whole point of the scene was to put that "PLEASE STAY CALM" sign on the turret because they REALLY thought it was funny, which it was, but the scene itself was retarded.

Of course the pooner and the black guy are the only good people in that base. Every white guy outside of the overseer is literally a disgusting creep.

Of course, the white guy is evil and the white girl just falls in love instantly with the black guy.

Everyone in the vault speaks normally for the most part but the moment the girl leaves the vault all of her dialog becomes autistic. I get that she thinks she is speaking to low IQ people but she can clearly get that talking like a lunatic will not work.

Like someone said before, this is literally someone's OC vault-meat character from FO4 playthrough with all the sex mods installed.

In 2 episodes I also saw 3-4 male buttshots. Whoever made this is the gayest nigga alive.

Even the XFiles would use that set up to have the misunderstanding cause a conflict to resolve. In this the misunderstanding just results in them getting thrown out of the vault they were already planning to leave with extra supplies.
