I watched Season 1.

I feel like if I had seen it as a teen, I would have liked it more, but now, I'm sick of superheroes and I'm REALLY sick of the trope of the Superman character being a murdering psychopath.

Over-saturation's definitely something the original comic didn't have to worry about at the time. Hell, it launched just one year after the first Raimi Spider-Man film.

It's a slow start for sure.
I will say that though I initially thought it was going to be more woke than season one I was pleasantly surprised with how they doubled back and made the black guy a villain by the end of the first episode in season two. So while overall I thought the episode was a step down from prior installments I wouldn’t say it was terrible.

It's even more shallow as it gets on. Omni-Man wasn't evil; he was just scared that his people might destroy his new home, so he wants to get Mark to help him force mankind to join the Viltrum Empire willingly, so that Viltrum would treat them with kid gloves and not annihilate the planet.

Is the negro ubermensch a long running character? Cause I have no interest watching Nigger Rick Sanchez for more than that first episode.

Don't worry, he's only there for most of the story. At least in the comics, sho knows what they're gonna do here. On the other hand if you don't like the character, you should at least enjoy how his story ends. Too bad it's real far away (again, going by the comics).

Silver lining. Apparently someone at Amazon saw all the memes about what a bitch Amber is, and dialed that way the hell down.

So I just finished the second episode of season two and I really loved it. Still not quite as good as season one but it’s leagues better than the last episode. It felt like it was setting up a lot but not doing much at the same time if that makes sense, as though they had too much they had to fit in and as a result this episode felt particularly directionless. I’m spite of that I found it to be mostly very charming.

Even Amber is I dare say downright likeable now if you can get past her season one portrayal. I personally find her back and forth with Mark in this episode to be pretty cute. Though it is all a bit whiplash enducing and I think they may have gone a little bit too far in making her this charity and activist obsessive person. Seems like a knee jerk reaction to the backlash. It’s not too noticeable or even that bad I guess, just something that slightly rubbed me the wrong way.

On that note I feel like the namesake of the episode being the Atlantian plot was kinda the worst of the bunch. It really only serves to feed you season one member berries, which a lot of the plots in this episode do, but ultimately it just doesn’t go anywhere and the resolution is off screen. In short you get half a fight and they cuck you on its conclusion. I guess you could say it kind of sets the government’s continued distrust of Mark and his willingness to disobey orders but we’ve already been building that up anyways and this just, really wasn’t needed. It must be a serious plot relevant thing from the comic related to that sound and the government making a super weapon. Overall I think this should have had a lot more depth and time devoted to it if it’s going to be relevant later and in conclusion I found that it felt like filler.

I fully expect Kirkman to change one plot point from the comics. One that I was surprised he held back on in spite of his penchant for cuckery, open relationships and sharing. I'm sure Bulletproof will BLACK Eve in this version. Thereby making the Amazon-approved interracial sex quota.
I wonder if they keep the part where Anissa rapes Mark and names their rape-baby after him.

I half expect them to change it to consensual sex to add some more drama. Kirkman has a huge cheating/NTR/swinging thing (Seems really common among indie comic creators), so I really am amazed he held back as much in Invincible compared to, say, Tech Jacket.

I have also watch the two episodes and I agree with that Amber is less of a cunt.
I also saw the special about Eve and god, why did they make her Dad such a fucking asshole?
I would have liked if he was more concern, but he is always in rage mode.

"You should never apologize for saving lives, Mark." Well, it's nice Amber learned her lesson, but it would have been even nicer for her to have been called out for it on-screen.

Also, the weakness of the animation outside of fight scenes really shines during the emotional moments. Debbie's breakdown as she admits to one of the guardians' husband that she was Omni-Man's wife feels like it's lagging way behind the VA's performance.
