So I just finished the second episode of season two and I really loved it. Still not quite as good as season one but it’s leagues better than the last episode. It felt like it was setting up a lot but not doing much at the same time if that makes sense, as though they had too much they had to fit in and as a result this episode felt particularly directionless. I’m spite of that I found it to be mostly very charming.
Even Amber is I dare say downright likeable now if you can get past her season one portrayal. I personally find her back and forth with Mark in this episode to be pretty cute. Though it is all a bit whiplash enducing and I think they may have gone a little bit too far in making her this charity and activist obsessive person. Seems like a knee jerk reaction to the backlash. It’s not too noticeable or even that bad I guess, just something that slightly rubbed me the wrong way.
On that note I feel like the namesake of the episode being the Atlantian plot was kinda the worst of the bunch. It really only serves to feed you season one member berries, which a lot of the plots in this episode do, but ultimately it just doesn’t go anywhere and the resolution is off screen. In short you get half a fight and they cuck you on its conclusion. I guess you could say it kind of sets the government’s continued distrust of Mark and his willingness to disobey orders but we’ve already been building that up anyways and this just, really wasn’t needed. It must be a serious plot relevant thing from the comic related to that sound and the government making a super weapon. Overall I think this should have had a lot more depth and time devoted to it if it’s going to be relevant later and in conclusion I found that it felt like filler.
