Amazon's Invincible - thoughts?

disappointed they didnt do the gag about oliver not wanting to eat the alien meat then next page is him stuffing it down his throat ravenously

the fake out bit at the end was funny at least

Female Tech Jacket in this show is a prime example of that Potential Man meme, where she's constantly hyped as being valuable to the Coalition for some reason when right next to her there are 3 Viltrumites, a Viltrumite half breed, a Unopan who can fight a Viltrumite on a decent level, a 10 foot tall lion man with weapons bigger than a person that was able to survive being frozen in space, and a guy with a gun that has the power of the Death Star.

Hey come on guys, Tech Jacket was able to mildly irritate a Viltrumite with her blasters this time. At this rate she might even be able to kill one by the end of season 6!

Dude, she killed an alternate-universe Invincible. Do you know how many heroes could do that? Almost all of them lol

I still think that should be enough to at least mildly hurt them, especially after how much they hyped her up. Them not flinching or even reacting at all to her shooting them in her first fight was beyond stupid.

I don't really care about this arc since it's one of the few where I read the comic version first and just reminds me of how I can go reread it (thaddeus tearing shit UP was pretty fun to watch though,), but jesus christ Fem Tech Jacket's voice is the most ear bleeding "english anime dub" delivery known to man, I had to stop by here just to complain about it because of how obnoxious it is.

The mole that they've been hyping up for seasons was literally a no-name character we've never met before the literal minute he was introduced in?

Random reddit comment:
I forgot there was another fake death. It's like a mandatory recurring gag in every episode,

I still don't get why she doesn't use her fucking forehead laser beam that she used on one of the alt Invincibles and on that electric villain this season, there were several times this episode where she was pinned down by someone and at the very least blasting that shit in their face would cause them to flinch, but instead Allen or Mark have to come in at the last second to save the day.

Oh, and since the Invincible VS beta starts today, I might as well ask what the hell is this roster that they're giving us, how the fuck do we have 6 Viltrumites, Bulletproof, and an OC in the base roster but Angstrom Levy is somehow MIA, just to name one example.

I liked this episode.
The shots of Conquest’s grave were really cool, and Omniman proves himself yet again to be the most interesting character in the whole show. He knows his species is on the way out, he’s actively working for their destruction, and the grave of his kinds greatest warrior will be a pile of rocks on an unknown and forgotten world, nobody but him will remember what it truly means. His culture, his species, everything he knows, represented by this grave.

Love it.
I also liked the actual war parts, I particularly liked the sneak attack on the capitol and how despite Thaddeus being against Viltrum he is clearly a Viltrumite and therefore has a much different perspective on warfare than his compatriots. Yeah he would rather everyone be ok, but he knows when fighting Viltrum there will be losses and the way to avenge those losses is victory.
However, I really wish we had more between Oliver and Nolan instead of a couple apologies and a montage. Oliver could be a really good character, but he’s just not given enough room to do things or expand on his alienness. And now that the whole Nukite Of Doom thing was brought up with Viltrumites fighting I can’t help but think it’s goofy when they hold up their knife hands and wait just long enough for the victim to be saved, like bro even Alan goes for chokes and we’re in the war arc watch some fucking tape and make the fights better.
Overall, still good enough to hold my interest.

it's just funny how they obviously did it for diversity but unintentionally showed the only female member of the ace team being fucking useless
Oh dear god fucking no
please
some boys on /co/ talked about them pulling some ACKSHULLY this one viltrumite is gay and has to tell Thragg shit and I can definitely see that happening

Wait a minute

It looks like this but instead of the circle it's his replacement hand with the shadows of the pillars being the lines

I thought you guys would be happier about it
About as happy as people were with Amber being turned from a white girl to an aggressive black bitch who thought she was just as if not more important than saving people because she worked in a soup kitchen.

It's amusing.
I am amused.

I actually liked this episode! One of the stronger ones this season.

Positives:
- Oliver & Nolan's bonding felt a lot more natural & expected in the show than comics. It makes sense after what Nolan said about Andressa for Oliver to be pissed and I liked how they worked through it. Oliver feelings towards humanity & his alien nature were also handled really well, too. Nolan's more disturbed & confused pause after Ollie admitting to crushing on a lobster (that he still ate) was funny. That's what you get for not being in your kids' lives, Nolan. The sibling dynamic between Oliver & Mark is really good, too. I like their banter over beards (Mark's asian genes jumped out) & them working together to blow up that ship.

- I liked the designs of the alien isopod creatures they were fighting. They were (in actuality) pretty generic, but I miss monster fights in this show where characters would just beat shit up.

- Relationship-wise: Show Talia and Allen mean more to me than Mark & Eve. Their dynamic is a good contrast to Nolan & Debbie, with the trust, transparency, and mutual respect for their roles, yet shared beliefs here. Again, Talia WAAAYYYY more useful & likeable here than in comics. Honestly, one of the best female characters this show has produced (outside of Debbie & Rae). As per usual, Invincible's side couples continuing to outmog (as the youth say) the main couple.

- Thaeddus's character is great. I'm fascinated by him. His reasons for treachery are sound, but you can tell he is still all Viltrumite. It's true that sacrafices are expected in war, but he is cold in his delivery. So efficient, so driven. I also liked seeing him fight this episode. This is rare, but I think he put up a better squabble in the show than the comic (correct me if I'm wrong). He brutalized Kregg, was rocking Anissa's shit, and still was able to push the Viltrumite's ship along with the others. Those oldhead Viltrumites really do put in the work.

- Battle Beast (for the four minutes he was onscreen) is still goated. I love seeing his bloodlust and his voice actor is one of my faves. I hope his fight with Thula lasts for a bit of time next episode.

Negatives:
- Again, my biggest gripe with this show is pacing. There should be more episodes w/shorter runtimes focusing on integral details. I wanted to see more of Nolan & Oliver's training, hear about Andressa, and maybe SEE a flashback. Instead, we'll have to wait & see if that ever pops up again in future seasons (doubt it).

- Allen & his fight w/Lucan & Kradd felt lackluster. Of course, this isn't a main brawl so I don't expect the tream to go all out. Yet the punches felt lackluster, the poses stiff, and Allen hardly reacted to anything. Compare this to his Execution fight or just an episode ago & it's worse. I'm still mad none of the Viltrumite's thought to look on their ship for them and just assumed they disappeared. The last 50 of these fucks are retarded, apparently. Also, how long were they on that Viltrumite ship? If a few days, ok. But if more, then how did they survive? I'm assuming TJ's safety had snacks or something. Soeaking of TJ, she remains useless. Her beam doesn't cause any damage, she almost dies (again) because she has useless boosters, and she never uses her lazer cannon like she did that guy on Earth. It takes her bringing Space Racer out of nowhere (killing Kradd & spooking Lucan away) to actually save Allen. I refuse to believe she was Earth's best option. Weakest member of the team.

- I do not like Thragg's design. His face is too undefined (even by the show's standards), his head too small in a lot of scenes, and his big-ass Andre the giant hands piss me off. It's like they took a baby doll's head and stapled it onto a gorilla. They should have simplified his Ottley design or added detailing & keep consistent sizing to him. His voice is still taking a lot to get used to. It's fitting some scenes (such as the speech scene) then falling flat in others (going over war progress with Kregg).
- These Viltrumites are dumb as bricks. Wtaf do you mean you'll attack Talescria (capitol) to hurt your enemy, are you stupid? Most of their strongest warriors will be there as that is base camp and your people are already stretched thin and losing in the parameters. They should have regrouped and replanned with a different strategy to draw their enemies away then attack. Instead, they depend on one guy (who is convieniently in charge of major security protocols) to let them in, barely do any damage (in the grand scheme of things, and then make themselves vulnerable for attack by retreating without at least killing the mole. Now their enemies know everything & can counter easily. Same shit pissed me off in the comics, too.

Invincible has this habit of making all its good shit occur the last few episodes. At this point, it really is best to get a synopsis of each episode per season & just pick & choose what to actually watch.

One of the stronger ones this season.
This season has been pretty fucking ass. You can take away the first half and retain all the important bits of the story. At least it isn't as bad as season 2 was.
two fucking years for that

Oliver isn't useless, he's underutilized. Honestly, most of thr hero cast is.
Almost all of the hero cast have potential to do cool shit but Kirkman can only think of a "Punch brawl" most of the time when it comes to action scenes involving them. Legit eve, duplikate and rex have the best potential to come up with multitude of ways to defeat enemies and they just don't.

Duplikate can just replicate so many of her self and just be used as foot soldiers against an invading army rather than just clone herself to fight on single enemies.

Eve of course can form anything but she only does the basic solid matter shit that is easily breakable by most enemies she fought. The only time she used a part of her brain was against conquest with the water and armour trick but that's about it.

And than there is Rex who can legit just create massive explosions or cluster of small explosions if he had better stuff to use than just the rods. He has a fucking hand cannon that is used only once, once through out the entire thing. They could of showed him using it against the invincible variant (Hell I think it would of worked if he used it point blank on evil mark's face) but nah.

Fuck even Shapesmith setting himself up like a slingshot and shooting Brit into anything would be far more useful, granted Shapesmith is an idiot but you would think someone would of come up with the idea that Brit is indestructible and put two and two together.

Oh, and since the Invincible VS beta starts today, I might as well ask what the hell is this roster that they're giving us, how the fuck do we have 6 Viltrumites, Bulletproof, and an OC in the base roster but Angstrom Levy is somehow MIA, just to name one example.
To be fair, Thula uses her long braided knife hair to mix things up. But yea, most of the unique ones will be DLC for sure. The only Viltrumites that are left to go in is Kregg and Thragg. Thragg for sure is getting in, Kregg likely will be since they already did Lucan and Thula plus Kregg will still be a part of the show for a long time. The only one I don't see getting in is Thaedus.

I would find it funny if the ex killer instinct devs put in minor hero/villains with the likes of Furnace just so they can have a Cinder like character.
I can’t help but think it’s goofy when they hold up their knife hands and wait just long enough for the victim to be saved,
At this point you'd think the Knife Hands need to be charged before they can use them.
I refuse to believe she was Earth's best option. Weakest member of the team.
I feel like it's less she was the best option because of her prowess but because she was the only few heroes that can fight in space and have a chance.

Immortal isn't going to help because of Nolan and even if he did help, he would only end up similar to oliver in being out matched by a viltramite on his own. He couldn't defeat a invincible variant which while each variant has diffirent power scaling and he was able to last a while, it was also pretty clear that variant was holding back just to savour the moment. He would have to work with others like he did with War Woman to stand a chance which is possibly with oliver amusingly enough.

Bulletproof can't breathe in space and it would take a single hit from a viltramite to anything that keeps him breathing to render him dead just like how Tech Jacket's helmet getting dented made her unable to see. Plus he's just like or even weaker than Immortal so again not useful.

Brit is completely invulnerable which makes him a perfect fit against a viltramite. One problem with that is he's just an slightly enhanced human otherwise, so he will just be knocked around and be unable to do anything. I imagine he can breathe in space since he can survive nuclear explosions and walk in magma without any issue. He would need a jet like Battle Beast gets and become some sort of massive "suicide" but not "suicide" bomber to deal with a viltramite or a viltramite ship.

Actually the funny thing is that Brit can absoutely be used as a mace since he did the same thing with his baby son (who is also invulnerable) in his own comic. So someone with great strength like Mark, Oliver, Nolan, Allan, Immortal or even Bulletproof can swing him around at a viltramite and he will be completely fine.

Robot would of been helpful but he is gone along with Monster Girl so they are not an option.

So yea, she is sort of the best option if you consider space to be an issue that renders most heroes in Earth useless.
