But half-seriously: isn't that more Freddie Mercury's retardation, and other Viltrumites go with it only because he could rip them apart with his bare, bear hands?
Sort of?
Later in the show, a couple of the other Viltrumites jump him. There's only four of them & two of them (Thula & Lucan) struggled to go toe-to-toe with Nolan. Same Nolan tanked Thragg's hits way better in the show than comic, so I think show GRT is nerfed. So, I think it's less a strength thing & more of a propoganda and loyalty thing.
It likely remains an issue of Kirkman's poor writing. Writing a competent villain for his fascist, Kryptonian-knockoff society is hard, yes. It also isn't ideal for him. The mouthbreather megafans will accuse him of supporting fascism because how dare he imply that the villains can be smart? Bad people can't be smart or make smart decisions! So, we're stuck with asinine decision making on Thragg's part that literally no competent leader would make. And said mouthbreathers will say that's fine because it adds to his character, ignoring how it hinders the larger story & further lowers the stakes.

It feels melodramatic to say it's all downhill from here, but this arc was the peak of the comics, and in the show it wasn't even as good as season 1, so it's probably not looking up in terms of writing or animation quality anytime soon. I wonder if they'll put in actual effort for Anissa's scene or if they'll just slide her png up and down his cock, or even cut away like pussies.
The worst part is that fans are getting scenes and doing touch ups to the animation for free,
It's especially funny whenever fans try to use the "w-well they don't have deadlines and are more passionate" like there's any excuse for a whole studio to get mogged by some random youtubers at home.

God I miss Spectacular Spider-Man.
One of the best cartoons ever. Ever. Holy shit. Watching it as an adult and everything still being good was so nice. Some of the best pacing, characterization, writing, and action ever done in a cartoon. Ended too soon, but I hope it never comes back. Look at what happened to Young Justice. Ugh.

Shame that they only did two seasons and not an episode more. Real shame...

Hell no. But I've learned from RWBY that fans will always tell you to give the benefit of the doubt until the show is completely over, and even then they might tell you to wait even longer for continuations or sequels.

I heard that a lot from Steven Universe fans too.

They were constantly gaslightning themselves and their friends that the show would get "really good" and would "explain everything".

Then it ended, then Future happened and the cycle began again, then that silly crap ended and by then I already lost contact with those friends.

Sort of?

You know what a smart villain is? Sinister and memorable. Palpatine rise to power may have had its moments where it relayed a lot on gambits (tho honestly, who's to say he had no Plan B/C/D ?) but it was mostly a result of his cleverness and cunning manipulation of all those involved. He rarely got directly involved, why should he? He believed himself to be almost above that shit now but when he did fight, he was absolutely nightmarish. And, truly, he only lost because his incapacity to understand emotions beyond where they can used in his favor, leading to said emotions being turned against him when he least expected.

And do you know what Palpatine also is? One of the most iconic villains in fiction. Dumb villains tend to get forgotten pretty damn quick.

Also this has been bothering me for the longest time, but why are the Viltrumites established to just be holding their breaths in space instead of actually breathing when they're very CLEARLY shown opening their mouths in space a few times?

Is Thragg retarded? Immediately wipes out large swaths of Viltrumites with a self genocide before the scourge?

“There’s less than forty of us left.” How are these fuckers a threat with those numbers? Why are they even trying to even fight anyone? Why not kidnap viable species that you can mate with to repopulate?

Because this is Kirkman's half assed critique of social darwinism (odds are he doesn't even know that term...)

The animation was pretty dogshit and the Viltrum-destruction scene was so dragged out that I felt like I was watching an epsiode of One Piece.

Very

It's not like he knew the scourge was about to happen, as retarded as a self-purge was regardless.

An army of sub-40 Supermans is still enough to fuck up the whole galaxy. The issue is that they have far too many places to keep track of.
Why are they even trying to even fight anyone?
Because Viltrumites are retarded
Why not kidnap viable species that you can mate with to repopulate?
Because they might get a purple child like Oliver and BY GOD A VILTRUMITE IS BETTER OFF DEAD THAN PURPLE

I don't really agree.

We know for a fact there's plenty of things, relatively speaking, that can hurt/kill a Viltrumites. Doesn't matter if it takes billions to bring one down, there's trillions more, and only 40 of them.

Because Viltrumites are retarded
Correction, Kirman is a faggot with the intellect of a particularly slow hoodrat coon. His characters behave like idiots because he, himself, is an idiot.

To this day I still can't believe he is not Jewish.

The funniest part is that all they need to do to crush the viltrumites like grapes in setting is to give a set of Tech Jackets armor to anybody slightly stronger than a human. (The armor works on John Carter of Mars logic where the race that created it is physically megafrail, but when worn by a human you get sonebody who can fight Viltrumites, the stronger the wearer is, the stronger the result.)
Naturally because Kirkman has fat deposits in his brain he never answers the question "but why not give a set to Allen or something?"
It's just another setting that falls apart under scrutiny.

it’s very convenient there is no psychic supers in this universe either, as they would make a mockery out Viltrumites.

Hell, size shifters would be insanely useful too, not to try the whole “ant man thanos asshole” nonsense but by shrinking, being inserted inside their ears during combat (with Viltrumites being so jacked up in their adrenaline, they won’t notice) and implanting a sonic sound frequency device, jump off and activate it. Boom, no more viltrumite.
