You are correct. A collapsed lung (pneumothorax) is treated with a chest tube, which like it's name is a tube that is inserted directly in to your lung via an incision in the skin. It's an emergency procedure usually done either in the ER or ICU. She would definitely have been admitted to the ICU had she had a chest tube. She's full of shit.

I've seen this first hand.

It's traumatizing enough to witness ... The hospitals give patients drugs so that they forget getting literally stabbed in the side and have a tube inserted into the hole. Collapsed lungs are such an immediate emergency that there's no time and too big of a risk for anesthesia, so the patients most of the time are very much awake and feel what is being done to them.

And some people even need to be put on ventilators on top of that.

Seriously though: If one of Amber's lungs collapses, she's done for. If she can't walk for long when her lungs are "good," then there's no way in hell she'd be able to walk around with a collapsed lung. She'd need tons of help to get her out of her apartment, and if she somehow made it to the hospital alive, the emergency procedure would be complicated due to her size.

I think because in her hick fat brain a heart attack is what’s gonna take her out.
It probably is but my running theory is that’s why chest pain gives her what seems to be at least slight genuine fear, whereas literal cancer is fine cos she can just like, get it cut out you guise.
