oooh yeah. It's the stylists job to blow dry it out and make it look smooth and healthy. A week... month... knowing AL and how she doesn't take care of her hair plus if she uses the flat iron trying to recreate the look.

I guess hairdressers have to do what their clients want. Tbh, the all-over blonde, whoever it may be, looks to be in pretty awful condition tho that could just be the lighting, but if the stylist suggests cutting it and the client won't have it, what do you do? I wouldn't risk AL having a "blackout" (ie. no-self-control tantrum) in my salon.

Someone more girly than me help me out here - why would a stylist bleach and dry hair as in pic 1 only to then go through the whole process to darken the top again? I get you can't do both processes at once, but I don't understand this, especially drying it only to rewash it for the next colour. Is that how ballywhatevering is done? Wouldn't the least damaging route be to only bleach/blondify the bits you want blonde?

Scuse for Dumb. My girly genes are weak and pitiful.

In my experience a baylage starts off with your natural color, which goes down to the mid-shaft of the hair, and only the ends are lightened. If someone is starting bleach blonde and wants to grow out their natural hair color, then it would essentially be reversed. However, it is supposed to be much more blended and not have those 90s-esque stripes in it, and those ends also need to be toned. I have the feeling it was super bright salon lighting in the 1st pic (also it looks like the brightness/contast has been tweaked in phone editing mode) and the 2nd pic the roots are her actual, natural color in normal daylight, and the brassy orange stripes are the dye the "hairdresser" applied.

I have bleach blonde hair and I concur.

Thanks peeps. That makes much more sense - it's how I'd assumed it was done; I couldn't make sense of what I was seeing.

She's truly a fucking idiot (like that was ever in doubt) if she's had the ends bleached. Her hair was fucked in the first place, the bleached parts are just going to break. Dunno whether to feel sorry for the hairdresser or not - she may have truly had good intentions but Big AL always knows best and demanded the KK-clone stylee she seems to think she truly is. I don't like the colour but it may have been the best she could do and she gets props if it IS Big Al just for managing to do it and get it looking smooth. Even if it does all fall out next week!

The blonde really shows how damage AL hair is. What stylist bleaches somebody's damaged hair prior to cutting off all the damaged hair. Doubtful AL will use the proper shampoo to maintain the color. *sigh*
$10 says the hairdresser warned her about bleaching hair with as much damage as she has, but in BFE Kentucky I guess Hambers money talked over common sense, and she wanted that baylage gorl!
She is going to have some nasty, brassy ends that feel like chewing gum when they're wet. She needs to chop it and start over, getting regular trims every few weeks.

See what the girls said a couple above. I think they're right, it's blown out lighting making it look blonder. And I think her natural colour looks darker to us usually cos it's always greasy and sweaty.

I agree tho. Past about chin-length it's ruined.

Btw, @LightEmittingDiode , I just looked again and see what you mean about the stripes. I thought it was just the colour, but they're evenly-placed vertical stripes that run all the way to the roots. Even my dumb self knows that's not ombre!

It looks like bad 90s highlights that she has been trying to grow out
Except she paid good money for someone to do that to her hair

Just to chime in, I just had my hair done similar to what she wanted - we started with babylights similar (but 1-2 shades lighter) to my natural hair color and concentrated around the top of my head but left plenty of room for my natural color along the roots because I'm a lazy fuck and don't plan on getting my roots touched up. I came back a week later for the 'actual' balayage and my stylist lightened my hair but stayed away from what she already colored and focused primarily on the bottom half of my hair.

This stylist, much like AL, has no idea what she's doing and never should've bleached her entire head. What a mess. Her poor hair was already thirsty and broken to begin with.

Would it be possible to do a much better job on already-wrecked hair, tho? Assuming it was Al's choice, I'm wondering if the stylist went for the nearest, least damaging option.

Don't really know why I care. Just....if this was intended, the world is just that bit more of a gloomy place. Instead of Fat Al, we now have Fat Tigger :-(

Not bleaching her entire head would've been infinitely less damaging. She could've tried to reason with AL (lol) and encouraged her to opt for a copper or something similar (depending on her skintone IRL) which likely would've a.) looked nice and b.) not required full blown bleach.

I think the girls are right, that maybe the first pic ISN'T her entire head bleached but a really blown-out photo of before they started. Which is horrifying enough.

But I totally agree with you - even with my very limited knowledge (I'm allergic to hair dye, hence the complete ignorance) I know there are far better, warmer options that aren't as damaging. That's why I wonder if AL insisted, though from what you and others have said, even if she was determined on a balayage, it's not been done carefully and properly.

My folks and my partner's live in super rural areas, and all the middle aged women still get chunks like that. Tres Glamour Shots part-time at Casey's General Store chic.
I was actually about to say this - my grandma goes to a woman's house and her hair always looks so awful afterwards. This doesn't look professionally done at all it looks like it was done in someone's house for half the price.
What is it with fat people and making their pets fat? I know two obese people who both have at least one fucking enormous cat.
When I was still in school a classmate of mine did their dissertation interviewing overweight people with overweight animals. TL;DR obviously needs further research but he concluded it comes down to willpower, self discipline and waypower. If you've got someone who doesn't give a shit about themselves, doesn't work, doesn't have at least an inkling of "it's a nice day we should go for a walk/to the park" then they won't take care of their animal either. They'll overfeed, not exercise, not prioritize their money for accidents surrounding the animal, just generally be irresponsible. The overweight people he talked to that had at least a part-time job, went outside twice a week or that had activities outside of the house they did weekly had pets who were at least 5 pounds lighter than the people who didn't have jobs and didn't go outside. He basically wrote about fat people being fat and lazy but idk I found it pretty interesting.
