I just want to apologise for all this. I know its stupid and everything you guys are saying has been stuff said to me by people who know me and close to me. @NoReturn mentioned it was hyper fixation and he's right, it is.
I've been in this non stop cycle and I'm tired of it, which is why I made the thread. I just want closure and not in a way where people think I'm something im not.

Its worth noting that a lot of people who are "car enthusiasts" are actually consoomers and it doesn't enrich their life in any way. I know quite a few older guys who own what is legitimately classic car that they bought for way too much money that just sits endlessly in their garage or in some cases a storage lot because there's just so much wrong with the vehicle and they don't have the expertise, tools and/or parts required to fix it.

There's various reasons for why this happens. Some of these people are indeed just stupid boomers. Some worked on cars in their past and just didn't realize how out of practice they were, or that the vehicle required special attention they were never qualified to give it. Some didn't realize that the cost of parts has gone up significantly in the last 10-20 years since they worked on cars and that now repairing the vehicle they purchased is more than a little out of their budget. Some just don't have the time and didn't realize that; one guy was raising two kids and working a full time job with regular ten hour days while his prized muscle car sat in his garage for something in the neighborhood of 25 years. He died recently, that car was still untouched.

Some people go as far to buy these vehicles just because they always wanted to own a nice car, but know that affording a brand new or functioning one is beyond their budget or the costs would be too steep for it to be a responsible purchase, so they buy that old junker that really needs work because its the closest they'll ever get and they'd rather have a consolation prize that weighs a ton and a half and needs to be towed rather than accept nothing at all.

Obviously this doesn't make the entire hobby of restoring old cars stupid just because the majority of people who try to get into it can't make any headway, but its not an ironclad example like you seem to think it is.

I saw all the mess I made and the people who misunderstood me and such and so I wanted to set the record straight. I wanted there to a mutual understanding and a way in which all of us could end this content.

To clarify.
1. I'm on safeguarding because they were concerned for views I hold which may lead me to extremism. It seems I'll be finally seeing someone who I hoped I would see on Thursday, someone who could explain this stuff more to me.

2. I fully understand people have other opinions. I've never done this before. I've never acted this way. I've been able to look at complicated issues, but this is what got me for some reason. I see people making fun of F1 and I laugh back. That's why I feel so pathetic about this and why I made this apology.

3. I want to move on but I feel like everyone here hates me and I'm an utter lolcow. I made the thread to apologise. I wanted there to be a understanding but instead it made it worse. The threads I've made make me look like someone I'm not. I just wanted everyone here to understand that. Not to insult me or whatever, just to all understand. I don't want to be another person who's on this sites bad side, as if im some "uh KFs is bad and cyberbullying".

I'm not attention seeking, I'm not trying to validate my hobbies. I'm not a lolcow. I was just asking about a few comments or where people stand when it comes to consoomers, so I know when I'm overstepping the mark. As people have told me, this was wrong and consooming varies to person to person.
