Can this be considered exploitative? How long until this retard deletes everything?

While I'm working on the UrbanSPOOK thread should I call UrbanSPOOK's haters detractors?
May be the most official way to say it. Either way people will know what you are talking about.

Dedicated to @Doctor of Autism, who warned us yet we didn't listen.

Fuck it, we ball. Is as good of a time as any to make fun of the DC Analog horror guy. I already made fun of the Batman part in particular and of a guy that made a video essay about it but we get to be meaner today.

To spoil this concept, is basically what would happen if Zack Snyder decided to adapt comics made by Scott Snyder and had no budget. The titular Batman of this story is one spiked visor away from being the Batman Who Laughs, every DC hero is a malignant or apathetic sociopath while the villains are even edgier. I want to remind people that this is supposed to be a good example of analog horror.
1725745905020.png

Every video so far is set up in the 60s, yet they use shitty video filters associated with VHS (the kind you expect from TikTok) a format that is a decade away in universe from existing and lists stuff as .MOV files, a format that doesn't show until the fucking nineties. Shit like this is what I meant when I wrote not understanding analogue media is kind of the point of analog horror.

Getting into actually making fun of the story, we start at The Bat Incident (1959), which is no longer canonical and I want to assume it isn't because it shows the creator has the writing prowess of a Year 4 student.
1725745653669.png
1725745705991.png
I'm not sure if left is supposed to be that Batman had been hidden from the sunlight, read underground in a very wonky way, or if he literally left the planet. Right was actually discussed here before. ESL or just illiteracy? You decide.

Second instalment, JimGordonAudioLoglive.mp4 (1960) *CORUPTED*, is basically the Bat Incident but dropping lore about how Supes and Flash are also bad now. The title makes no sense, has no relation to what happens in the video and the orthographic error isn't mine. GCPD Instructional Presentation 1 (1962) is just the cop video from the Mandela Catalogue.
1725746554371.png
Reminder, there are zoomers who say this is terrifying.

The Truth (1962) is just reiteration of Bruce Wayne being Batman, this time including an audio admission by Batsy who I assume uses a chain smoker Darth Vader voice filter to hide his identity in this universe.

1726984740472.png
Holy mother of ESL Batman!
So Names (1962) is when this truly became retarded. From this point (at least explicitly) our POV is Tim Drake, who treats VHS tapes like diaries and snuck into Wayne Manor to investigate. He knows he shouldn't be there, admits so, yet documents he was there. Genius.

So Bats is there and many members of the Bat Family too, except they cry blood or some other gay shit. They let Tim walk and then this happens.
1726985166002.png
Why? Why would they want to cover it up if the chiefs daughter is one of the missing? Why? For what reason Jim Gordon would want to hide Barbara is missing and presumably is in cahoots with Batsy. The police is telling people Bats is dead and crime comes back up.

Then Tim announces his plans to skip town.
1726985385162.png
Comedy gold.

Who the fuck makes these tapes? This one has effects that either someone has access to in the early 60's or someone bothered to edit into 60's tapes and it ends with this spoopy warning.
1726985554930.png

So the video right after this one is from the perspective of Jason Todd, despite the fact he was also a prisoner of Bats. He tells us his life story, that he is fatherless and his mum was a druggie so he had to resort to stealing "car parts and wheels" to provide for them. Something I haven't bitched about yet is how despite it being the 60's normal people can take photos of random stuff that just happens to be important for the story, y'know, like if you had a smartphone in modern day. I know that the DC Universe is slightly more advanced because of heroes sharing their patents but yeah, probably it was a teenager being too retarded to imagine a world where people can't conveniently take photos or communicate over long distances.

1726986103332.png
This right here is the convoluted writing of an inexperienced novice. Your character knows too much to know too little. Batsy pumps Robins with this shit while Catwoman watches. Before pumping Jason, Batsy STARTS MONOLOGUING about how Alfred died and that turned him for the worst. That's the reason Bats is the way he is in this universe. So Jason calls him out, Bats uses the fear toxin (which Jason also knows about for some reason), Jason escapes.
1726986558092.png
Blud, just tell me a DC intern was asked to make this while on lunch break and this is Warner's attempt at reaching a younger audience. The cops asked this teenager to draw and he gives them his portfolio.

The Batman Analog Horror series is so bad that it made me revisit Gotham: 1919-1939. Not because it's horror or anything, but because it's fun and interesting. I mean come on, this is hilarious and endearing at the same time.
1727328292917.png
Imagine if any of these analog horror creators had an ounce of creativity like this. I'd be less hostile towards the genre as a whole. Compare this to what you see in the analog series. It's just another shitty drawing, with the same soy ridden face.

I doubt there will ever be a good analog horror besides what Kane Pixel's doing. But the fact that this is even considered halfway decent is a travesty,

Funny enough the main channel that hosts 1919-1939 also has their own analog horror series about Batman too

Like it also follows analog horror tropes but the person who makes these clearly is just doing it because they're a batman fan since these videos don't get that many views, and have more effort put into them compared to "DA BAT INCIDENT" which in comparison comes across as insincere and repeats every trope without doing anything new.

It's a clear case that sincerity can make more enjoyable content rather than just trend hopping.

You know what's the best part about the DC analog horror? I didn't actually finish the summary. I just lost it, I already watched the whole thing once but is even more incompetent than I remember.

Oblivion (the retard that made this, used to go for another gay ass name) just ripped an old Coke ad and added 14 seconds of montage at the end. The Court of Owls is sending the Talon after Batsy. That's it.

This guy lists the videos in a "timeline", each video is assigned a year and I assume that for some reason the Court of Coke shows up before a video that builds on the one where Jason Todd spills the bat-beans. Is a community warning about people disappearing and lists Dick Grayson, Barbara Gordan*, Stephanie Brown and Jason Todd. Video is corrupted and once again I find everything very funny. Either Bats had the power to corrupt a broadcast to tell people 'you are too late' or he or someone else found the time to edit it into a recording of a missing people broadcast for someone else to watch.

By 1963, Gotham Police is telling people Batman is dead and crime has risen. Despite being a complete sociopath, Batsy didn't kill the Joker.
1727330742245.png
He killed 30 people! Mainly Falcones and Bertinellis. And the homeless.
1727330825580.png
We are dealing with some major brain power here.
1727330878755.png
Oh no! He knows I said the n-word on Discord!
1727330948707.png1727331027003.png
I love how everyone in this universe has the time and talent to illustrate who is presumably one of the scariest beings you can encounter and survive. This fucker wanted to flex his portfolio (maybe just took art from someone else) that bad.
1727331088357.png
It seems that Oblivion is an absolutist of all pieces of Batman media that don't interfere with his headcannon, as he is incorporating the idea of the Joker replacing Joe Chill from the Burton movies, used a photo of Catwoman from the 60's show, realistic art for both Bruce and Alfred while Joker and Two-Face are from the Nolan movies, the last one in a gloriously MS Paint graffiti reminiscent of the Monument Mythos. It really seems like a hodgepodge to the point I was expecting that the twist at the end is a truer Batman comes and defeats this one Last Knight on Earth style.

This whole video is from the perspective of Jim Gordon, so it feels more natural as an info-dump but grammar and syntax are still shit, guy says he is going to skip town after believing his daughter dead and then dies.

To close officially the Batman analog we have an account by Azrael (I assume Jean-Paul Valley since he was among the kidnapped). Duke Thomas and Huntress were killed with a cane. The Mad Hatter and Victor Zsas were killed by the Robins. Dr. Pyg was brutalized. Batsy is gone and Dick was personally harassing Azrael.
1727332334306.png
This is the channel icon for Oblivion. This is Dick after Azrael killed him. Yes, he took a photograph. Yes, he included it in a video tape. Yes, he says Azrael is taking over.

Azrael killed Firefly and Killer Moth. He plans on taking Crazy Steve too, with the power of God on his side. Whole thing finishes with a still replicating Dark Knight Returns (that cool ass panel with Bats riding a horse) and a quote in Latin I'm sure was butchered.

So, 3 days ago Siltrics (the old name this retard used to go by) remade the Bat Incident.
1727332887957.png
I'll argue he made it worse.

First time I wrote about this thing, it was in the context of a "review" made by a YouTuber praising it for being 'better than the entire DCAU'. First time around I misread that quote and believed he was talking about the DCCU, the one that wasted Henry Cavill and not even then I agreed this was better. The DC Animated Universe has seen better days but not even at its worse is this inept.

This feels like those fanfic creepypastas about established characters where every BLANK the Killer happened to act under Slenderman and they only ever went after bullies, child beaters and paedophiles so you didn't feel bad about how everyone lost gallons of blood. Forget this guy doesn't understand analogue media, this guy doesn't get Batman or at least gets him as much as Snyder. A web-series that is in-universe how people are terrorized about Batman in the style of The Batman and the new Penguin show, done in media from when Batman as a franchise started, that could be something special. This whole thing is specially retarded and I can't believe there are people that think this is great. I blame Wendigoon and his boyfriend.

The thing that really ties everything together is that I didn't touch on everything. There are 4 other videos that are tied to the DC analog horror universe and they are even stupider and 2 on the Marvel universe that make Ruins look like high art that probably were made when this guy realized someone was trying to steal his thunder in the Funko universe. I'm saving those for special post because unlike the Batman analog, I haven't bothered watching them yet so it gets to be a very special Analog Horror General exclusive where we get to really make fun of a very tryhard worldbuilding project.

I don't remember the other ones well but he has the fucking Superman one have a super slowed down version of David Bowie's "Starman" to be scary which is utterly ridiculous.

He also is delving into fucking Marvel content for some reason and most of it is just edgy youtube poop edits of 1960s cartoons. Speaking of, for some reason whenever he includes 1960s cartoons, he just censors the eyes of the cartoon characters with a black bar.

This guy is basically the "Pooh Blood and Honey" of Analog Horror mixed with Sonic.Exe

I got no one but myself to blame for reading your comment before I got to watching them.

The first Supes video, The Blue Boy Scout turned God (1962), is the only video by Oblivion/Siltrics/Faggot I would say is interesting since Supes came as advertised and was a hero that even helped with WW2. He disappeared and a cult spawned about him like in the Snyder movies but this one destroyed regular adoration temples. He returns in 1962, but this time he is edgy. The only credit I can give to the execution is that Supes says he is sorry he has to destroy the planet, which is the only in-character action when you consider an interesting mystery could be made around why a benevolent saviour makes it his personal mission to destroy his people. Like every other video made by this retard, it was made by someone else but the evil DC hero can corrupt the broadcast/tape once he is mentioned, it legit makes the MC look like high art in comparison.

It's funny this guy used Starman because the whole point of that meme was appreciating the little acts of kindness that make heroes out of all of us, and then we get this guy that hopefully is quite young thinking he is forsaking it by using slow down + reverb + low pitch.

Then comes the video where he just takes an episode of the old Justice League cartoon from the 60's with Supes' eyes censored. Is like a third of the episode uninterrupted and then JFK (who calls himself JFK) tells us meta-humans have been outlawed unless they are with the JSA. Supes is pissed so he hijacks the broadcast to call us ungrateful bastards. Then comes the Green Lantern video, where he hijacks a UN emergency broadcast to call us ungrateful bastards and shows us art of Alan Scott and Jay Garrick with Joker faces to tell us they have been kidnapped. Both Supes and Lantern have spooky voices but with Lantern I had to activate subtitles.

1727372172627.png1727372193988.png

Mofo still doesn't check if he is writiting good.

Last video as of now is Aquaman Prevention, telling you what do to in case the men's restroom icon holding a trident comes out to get you. This Aquaman is able to give you an infection you can get by eating contaminated fish just by being near you and he is very pissy people think he is a joke as he hijacks the prevention video to show you a super-duper impressive CGI video of someone in what looks like a Minecraft boat being attached by marine sea life. Old music with semi-ironic title and morse code I'm not interested in translating even for the banter.

This just made me appreciate the Nixonverse more. It is stupid, but is is more effective at being scary and being a dark DC universe than this one, specially because there were still heroes in that universe. If this was a shitty Elseworlds story, Uncle Sam and his guys would've showed up by now. This isn't even good torture porn because it still is too scared about what could push the Justice League to being evil.

This truly is failing upwards. The Nully analog horror would be better than this.

Analog Horror has failed in part because the people into it the most were born after DVDs became a thing. They never had to deal with stuff like tapes rotting or fuzz. Their idea of corrupted media is usually just "creepy mascot character in a dark background" or blurred images of police sketches or something.

That and as can been seen in this thread, there's just too much material that is just a bunch of haunted game creepy pasta.exe 2.0 cliches and outlets for fetishes.

I got a little story for you. When I was writing the OP, I originally planned to cram as many analog rundowns as possible but the post was already too long as it was so that's why the part of 'analog horror is when you don't understand analogue media' has a bunch of linked channels and why the orbiter and AI sections have named examples.

One of the channels that I was drawing ideas from was SeedButter, a smaller player in the scene. He has covered the Batman story, I learned about both the Adult Swim one and greetningsfromatomville because of him (I quoted some comments from his review in the AI section in case you were wondering) and he also has covered Unorthodox Kitten (one of the few analogs that kiwis seem to like). I'm bringing all of this up because of this video he released a bit over a week ago.

So I click it and then I see this gem in the comments.

Oh yeah, love those crappy VHS filters over FullHD 1080p video. Not immersion-breaking at all!

And the thing is, it's really not hard to get it right, if you are just willing to put some effort into it:
1. Get a VHS and a blank VHS tape (even if you or your parents got rid of yours a long time ago, it's really not hard to get a used VHS nowadays)
2. Get one of those HDMI-AV converters and an RCAx3 cable.
3. Connect your PC with the source footage to a VHS using the HDMI-AV converter.
4. Record the footage onto a VHS tape.
5. Use a USB-DVR capture card to convert the footage back into digital format and save it on your PC.
And there you go, authentic VHS footage, right resolution and all.
That's how I made my shitpost in the Rekieta thread anyway.

Hell, if getting a VHS is not an option for you for whatever reason (or you are just feeling lazy), you can skip the VHS part altogether and connect the HDMI-AV directly to the USB-DVR dongle and save yourself some time and money. It would still look alright.

New Vita Carnis video
This one is centered around a series of experiments being done on a captured meat snake, and a captured mimic. Also, the second season is a lot more prop-based than the first one, and I wouldn't even call it horror all that much, it feels a little like the tales that the SCP Foundation has, now that I think about it, but the sound effects are rather eerie and create a good atmosphere. Better than the previous episode

I remember someone in the YT horror thread saying that covering Youtube horror was a profitable grift, with which I totally agree. Moreover, it's even more profitable that making actual horror. Case in point: Dr. B0sch Fallout New Vegas ARG unfiction. If you look up "dr b0sch" on Youtube, some of the first results are videos discussing the series, with about 4 million combined views. Meanwhile, Dr B0sch's actual channel has only about 0.5 million views.

1728566344253.png
1728566455323.png

It appears that coverage of unfiction stories doesn't directly translate into views for their creators, cause what's the point of watching the original videos if your favourite horrortuber has already shown you all the interesting parts?

It's neat that the guy who's making The Man in the Suit scored a merchandise deal, but considering how notoriously protective Toho is of their IPs (not quite to the same extent as Nintendo, but they still defend their copyright pretty fiercely), this is like sticking a neon sign on your back that says "PLEASE GIVE ME A CEASE AND DESIST!"

Another question is how Makeship (the company doing the manufacturing) would be able to put something that's not even a homage, but a straight unlicensed adaptation of an existing IP into production without having to pay royalties.
