If Torba has decided to call law enforcement, then it's highly likely that the FBI and whatever other law enforcement agency involved is keeping the whole thing under wraps. The last thing that any self-respecting LEA wants is for a crime to escalate or disappear entirely once the perpetrator finds out what's going on.

Even Google ended up paying out billions in fines to France because they thought the same thing; Why? Because despite being an American company it still offered services to Europeans, making them automatically liable for GDPR violations. Of course, I fully expect Torba to do what you say and get further assfucked for this (it is even more funny because he could have just blocked European users and avoided this whole potential problem).

This is true for serious companies which need to operate as a business in those countries. Google has entities in Ireland, which technically have to comply with GDPR They have server farms all over Europe. And they want to be able to take money from people in Europe.

Torba can't do anything in Europe. He can't run credit cards anywhere in the world. His only concern from GDPR would be if he wanted to take a European holiday.

This is why I believe all alt-tech platforms will eventually fail. My favorite example of this is Bitchute, an alt-tech site that I do actually like. The kind of repetitive content you will find on Bitchute when first coming on to it is going to be one of many things.

I think this is an overly rosy picture of the early web 2.0 internet. When youtube was small the content was dogshit. I would argue it was worse than BitChute is now. It might be harder now for new websites and new services to get past the midpoint from being dogshit to being full of varied and interesting content, but they'll still do it eventually if they last.
