I actually worked as a guard at the concentration camps and I can attest that 6 million Jews really did die in the holocaust. However… the way they died is not the same as it is in the history books. You see, there wasn’t a whole lot of supervision at the camps and the guards could pretty much do whatever they wanted to the prisoners. While my coworkers behaved themselves fairly well, I would routinely take a group of prisoners into what is now known as the gas chambers (which were really mortuaries, but I used them as a makeshift sex dungeon). Long story short, I somehow ended up raping six million Jewish prisoners and all of them killed themselves after their traumatic experiences. My superiors were horrified when they saw what I had done and made up the whole gas chamber thing because it’s far less disturbing.

Problem with that is a newborn doesn't have "consciousness" (definition: the state of being awake and aware of one's surroundings), their brain is not developed enough for that. Then there's the elderly whose brain has been impaired due to age-related disease, resulting in debilitating effects on their consciousness.

To be consistent, one would have to be okay with killing them too (which some are, mind you). Society will either value innocent human life due to its intrinsic value, or just arbitrary criteria like consciousness or viability.

It's also obviously just an excuse to end an inconvenient life. If people actually cared about consciousness then they'd let that develop instead of swooping in and nipping it in the bud before it develops. Consciousness is just an excuse, they don't actually value it because you don't prevent things you value from occurring.

I agree, but both parties need to argue in good faith, and I think an impartial observer would conclude that one party wasn't. For my part, I always do my best to do so. I'm open to the facts and any compelling moral argument a person can make, I just genuinely have never seen one that holds up to scrutiny.

What's wrong with acknowledging the connection between pedophiles and porn depicting the (fictional) sexual abuse of children? What are you afraid of? It's not like anyone here has the power to criminalize drawings of the fictional sexual abuse of children.

Because it's rude as hell to basically say a gross cartoon is the exact same as horrific abuse of a real child that will effect them for the rest of their life. Just like it's shitty to use the term gaslighting for anything other than an abuse tactic that happens within the context of a close relationship (like an abusive parent or romantic partner).
