Angry Joe / Joe Vargas / Jose Antonio Vargas / AngryJoeShow - Streamer, formerly made ANGRY REVIEWS, hates his fans

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I've never watched this guy, but given how many kiwis think he used to be entertaining I kinda feel like I missed out.

That's not a compliment, I'm extremely easily amused. I've met 8 years old who have more refined tastes than me. You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

Oh, that reminds me. If anyone wants to see true cringe and unprofessionalism, just watch pretty much any "interview" he conducted at cons. He fidgets anxiously and barely knows (or remembers) what questions he should ask and it's just awkward. You can tell the people are like WTF.

(Coming out of lurking for this)
On that note, not to :powerlevel: too much, but I've staffed at staffed at a con where he was a guest on multiple occasions. The last time he was there I can %100 confirm he was a hot drunken mess during his panels, and the weekend.

Common trend on reviewers now

maxresdefault.jpg
First off, how dare you make me have to see seeing as vomit inducing as digibro face, but really I am kind of shock if digibro and his clique of autistic assholes don't have a thread here. (Not anime reviewers mind you but him and the rest of "the The Pro Crastinators")

But on the topic of Angry joe bizarre bitch fit part IV: reviews are not crashed, he been in a lot of shit that people just don't care enough to look into for good reason he not that interesting, he pretty much blandest of bland reviewers. Personally I don't like him because he is fucking cringe, like the fucking away he wants to be treated as serious critic and journalist but dose stuff like have every publisher and dev be a super villain in his videos is just childish. The fact he call his fan base "the angry army" and act like he so important.

But still this is not the first time he thrown a fit like this, most still know the mario party thing but I am shocked it has not come up yet, his little spat with the bro team pill. Bro team is as far as I know streamers who took angery joe channel down. Why? well in his end of year video for the top 1o gaming controversies, he brought up the gamer gate, now I don't know or care about gamer gate but in his bit he showed their logo. Now bro team didn't like the fact he made them look like their a part of the whole thing when they at the time were staying away from it, so scared of being attack by ether or both sides they had it taken down for using their logo without permission. In short he freak the fuck out and sent emails attacking them, they got tired and just let it go. Most of it is document here by bro team pill.

I know I may gotten some things wrong or too simple but that really as much as I care to look into now.

I will never understand how TGWTG people ever got so popular.
You gotta remember when Channel Awesome first started they were ripping off the Angry Videogame Nerd, Doug was AVGN but movies, Linkara was AVGN but comics etc. They kinda of had a monopoly on internet reviewers for a few years, since Doug's website let people network like crazy. The problem is that as a whole, the people from CA's heyday are incapable of evolving as a creator and their community is one giant hugbox.

That reminds me... what is Joe's relationship with Spoony? I was watching some old Angry Joe videos, and Spoony made a cameo appearance in the Aliens: Colonial Marines one. But I've never heard anyone talk about whether they're friends or whatever.
When Spoony was moving to Illinois he stayed with Joe for a few days and the two went to Richard Garrot's place so Spoony could interview him about Shroud of the Avatar. This otherwise very good interview was ruined by Joe running around in his Corporate Commander costume acting like a cunt while programmers were trying to work.

so the only reason why this guy is a cow is because he's kind of a dick? lol

I think he's not just being kind of a dick, he seems to be losing his shit... over youtube comments. I read that his Swedish GF (that was on his streams and generally found to be annoying) dumped him at some point recently, as well. Not sure if it might be causing some issues, or it it was caused BY his issues (or unrelated).

I think at this point he probably doesn't want to do the content most fans want because he'd rather spite them, in addition to the 'other' content being easier.

And him deactivating comments and ratings is funny...

It is truly sad that Angry Joe is starting to fall apart at the seams because he was genuinely entertaining and at times informative when he dealt with his stuff. Though looking back I have to wonder if some of his views were genuine because he did get a vacation package from the folks who did Witcher 3 and he gave it a 10/10, which to be fair was a great game, but still that sense of something not right is always there. It seemed after 2015 when his content really started to stop with barely making any game reviews and was disappointed he didn't review Total Warhammer since he loves both series of games.

It is stuff like this which makes me wonder if going TGWTG is the internet equivalent of desecrating an Indian burial mound?
These Let's Players like DSP, Boogie,Spoonie and Angry Joe eventually let the attention go to their heads and live in another form of reality. They think the world circles around them and surround themselves with yes men and dick suckers. Warps their sense of reality and they eventually wind up having people turning on them as they become more shut off from critiques. They get their heads shoved up their own asses so far they can't see anything besides themselves. The very fans they relied on they turn on and lash out.

He's a lolcow because he's acting like a little bitch because people are not liking his new stuff.
I love how these Let's Players act like they don't need sub/views when they get a huge head after a while. They really start to think what they do is useful. It's hilarious, just wait for the tearful video he makes after Jim posts his video on him in a week.

Isnt that illegal unless he discloses it?

Absolutely not. There is no law against private individuals giving products good reviews in exchange for kickbacks.

With that said, it's definitely considered a major ethical issue for serious reviewers.

Indeed. While it's totally legal, it's a massive deal on youtube, and a lot of guys I follow usually clearly state their relationship with the company behind the product they're reviewing before going on with the rest of the video. I've even seen some people bring in actual lawyers to discuss this stuff on youtube. Just because it's legal doesn't mean it isn't completely immoral. And nowadays, if you do good reviews for a nice scratch on the back, you're probably gonna get found out and get massive shit for it.

Indeed. Minor powerlevel, but I used to write arts and entertainment reviews for a few publications, so I'm pretty well-versed in this. It's not just a big deal in the world of youtube, but for anyone who is professionally involved in criticism.

I should mention that a lot of the time these things are not presented as explicit quid pro quos, but instead often companies will offer some pretty substantial goodies to reviewers along with the product to review, and even if there are no explicit expectations stated it is still considered a big deal for something like that to enter into the equation at all. Basically, getting a vacation or a couple hundred or thousands of dollars worth of unrelated swag along with a product really undermines a critic's ability to remain objective.

Some major examples I was privy to were a high-end gaming laptop being mailed (unsolicited) to our office along with a game to review (we returned the laptop) and a critic being flown out to a resort to party for a full weekend with stars of a new movie that they were reviewing (which they actually did, because in fairness it was an opportunity to interview the cast in a really in-depth way, but there were a lot of reservations and concerns about it).

You're spot on about the potential for these sketchy arrangements to really bite reviewers and publications in the ass and ruin their credibility. For some random youtuber it should be pretty easy to stay clean (although it seems Joe failed to do so). But it's even worse for publications that rely on advertising revenue and often run paid advertisements for the same stuff they are publishing reviews of. Even though it happened 10 years ago, GameSpot will forever be inexorably linked to the controversy over them firing the editor who gave Kane & Lynch a mediocre review due to pressure from the developer.

Again, I have no investment in this specific guy either way, but I'm just seeing a sense of entitlement about what content creators should do.
Do you know where you are?

The entitlement and bitch fitting is coming from Joe. That is what makes him a cow. Not changing up content overnight out of a false sense of superiority over the content that made you famous is something any YouTuber worth a shit knows. YouTube 101. That he's doing it is the beginning stages of the mad cow. The hiv has flipped as soon as he started going public and dramatic and that pepe is fucked.

If you're just confused that's fine.

If you have a dull palette for the cuts of beef then stop posting until you learn it.

If you're finding yourself emotionally invested in this guy and that's why you're defending him, then Reddit is that way.

Regardless. If you read just the text in the screens in the thread and don't bust out popcorn and some McCormick you might want to step back and try again

The test of it someone is a cow or not is if the thread dies. If the thread dies it's not a cow. It's not interesting.

You shouldn't read emotion into other people's posts.

Wanted it to be very clear as white knighting is my pet peeve here. Maybe I'm spoiled by the dsp thread and crew but the point here is to point and laugh and savor the flavor. Anything else go to Reddit.

If you actually bothered reading the posts you were rating, you'd see that I had a perfectly civil conversation with the @The Fool about this. Two people can disagree about whether someone qualifies as a lolcow without one a-logging or the other white knighting.

My pet peeve is when people can't distinguish someone disagreeing with them from someone chimping out, which unfortunately is a point of confusion that crops up pretty much whenever lolcow status is a matter of debate in any thread. And I know you are trying to project yourself as an authority and arbitrator of what defines a lolcow, white knighting, etc, but once you hang around a bit longer than a month you might notice that some active threads are still subject to debate about whether the subject is a lolcow and whether they should be locked, because even if they are active there is an argument to be made that they become low-effort circlejerks (see Carl Benjamin/Sargon of Akkad). In general, I do agree with you that actively signals interest and that threads should be kept open, but that actually isn't how things are always determined.
