They got buttfucked by a huge DMCA thing not too long ago so they're probably trying to go legit.

I've had better luck with a website called Weebcentral lately for manga chapters.
The fact that they still haven't even updated their "transparency" canary over a year after axing 1/3 of their library is crazy.
Weebcentral/MangaSee is good, but keep in mind it's an aggregator/mirror so it's still dependent on MD & co to source from. Weebdex is thrown around as a replacement hub for uploaders, but I've never used it myself. If Mangadex wasn't the only group-friendly place that served uncompressed images I would've moved to something else long ago.

Don't forget Nami and Dex are (supposed to be) separate legal entities, so any attempts to go legit will be under the Nami brand, either a takeover or another "partnership".

We are on our fourth consecutive chapter of Yujiro glaze, the CTE may have tightened it’s hold on Itagaki.
Inb4 the next chapter is Yujiro stroking his shit for twenty pages straight.

I just finished the first season of the Space Battleship Yamato/Star Blazers remake, and it's easily one of the best animes I've seen. No retarded shit, just a straight sci-fi military space opera. I never saw the original, but it was heavily referenced throughout the decades (Nadesico etc). The second season kinda sucks though, and I think there's five or so total. Hopefully it picks back up

ItNot really newsworthy but it looks like Mangadex pushed a new update to the site. In the side banner there's now a list of payment processors they use for their support scheme:
Screenshot_2026-03-25-06-28-27-169-edit_com.android.chrome.jpg
There's no official statement I could find about it, but EtherealNeko (the head admin) talked about it in the forums, which seems to have flown under most people's radars.

We will provide development and roadmap updates going forward. We will try to do it once a month, but if not enough has changed, we will skip the update until the month after. We don't have an ETA on these yet, we will try to add them when possible.

UI:

  1. Considering adding a page selector to the top of the uploads list on the title page
  2. Title and chapter comments on the platform for supporters (currently, forum threads)
    1. We will look at importing comments from the forum into the new system
  3. Expand social and comments on the platform to group 2
    1. Group 1: Dex-chan supporters (already has access)
    2. Group 2: Data contributors (getting access next)
    3. Group 3: Users (will get access after spam prevention is set up)
  4. Payment icons (see NamiComi footer for an example) and other compliance information
  5. More tooling for platform moderators to help resolve user reports
  6. DMCAs from March 2025 to be added to the transparency report. First batch will be the ones that used the system, second batch will be the ones from CODA and COA, also known colloquially as "the massacre"
System:

  1. PIR endpoint (retrieves account data, thanks Bartolumiu!) to join the account deletion endpoint
  2. API abuse enforcement for systemic retrieval that doesn't conform to ToS or the API guidelines
    1. The access issues of the last couple of weeks, where MangaDex was degraded, were due to this
  3. Android and iOS app release preparations
  4. Reading tracking preparations
  5. Platform notifications on Web
A big thank you to our Dex-chan supporters and contributors!

God bless Dex-chan.
I'm not sure why they're hellbent on this "social platform" nobody asked for, my guess is to make them look better in license talks. I noticed that what they're doing with NamiComi is the exact same playbook Fakku and Crunchyroll used before going legit themselves, except they are smarter by keeping it a third party to avoid backlash. I give it a year tops before Nami strikes some deal with some publisher, "buys out" MD since they are separate legal entities, and then purges it immediately after.
Regardless it's pretty funny that Null is blacklisted from basically every payment processor but somehow a literal piracy site (for the time being) gets the go-ahead.
A little Timeline & Lore for what the fuck is exactly going on with MangaDex situation, because the drama is honestly pretty funny:

The writing was on the wall with the hand-off to NamiComi, which was all kinds of stupid to begin with. However, if anyone wanted a textbook example of how flawed & oxymoronic the concept of centralized aggregators are, recent state of MangaDex is the best example.

For a very brief crash course of what happened around 10 months ago from now:
> Mangadex admin decides to monetize his position.

> Creates NamiComi, a legitimate company based in the USA with all the requisite legal information (eg. names).

> Starts using MangaDex to drive traffic to NamiComi.

> Copyright owners see the blatant stupidity for what it is, a mass DMCA opportunity that can be enforced with an iron fist since they finally have a name to work with.

> Oopsie Daisie, Mangadex is suddenly in legal trouble, better hand it off to the legitimate company NamiComi.

> A massive DMCA purge happened taking 7000 titles (according to MD's own team) with it.
A little infodump on the DMCA purge before going into how retarded the situation is.
On 16th May 2025, a massive purge of manga happened through a DMCA claim, taking with it around 25% of the site, with more than 7000 titles, & 660K+ chapters. This approximate is an official estimate confirmed by MangaDex itself [A]
Mangadex gets hit by DMCA - more than 25% of chapters gone | staff FAQ update.

UPDATE (as of 19th May 0:40 UTC)
Staff have provided more information regarding the whole situation in a
FAQ
Mangadex was hit by quite the sizeable DMCA takedown, resulting in chapter numbers going down by more than 25% (that is, over 660k chapters) - and no, we're unfortunately not talking about Trump coming up with new tariffs.
Since this has led to a lot of confusion and off-topic discussions in the bugs, support and announcement threads and no real official announcement has been made yet, I'm making an unofficial one for the time being.

Q: Where are the chapters of the titles I was reading just yesterday? / What happened to my uploads?
Mangadex got a joint DMCA takedown notice, presumably on behalf of major publishers both Japanese and Korean.

Q: Is there a list of that titles were affected?
No such list has been provided by Mangadex staff yet, but you'll find community-compiled lists in a lot of places like this reddit thread [A]. Therefore, please don't spam this thread with affected titles.

Q: Is this the end of Mangadex? Will Mangadex shut down?
There are no plans or indications of Mangadex shutting down (that I'm aware of). There was a change of site ownership but that seems mainly organisational. Mangadex is a popular site, more so than many readers are aware of. It's more surprising MD got this far solely on the backs of very few volunteers, than seeing them expanding the collaboration with Namicomi now imo.
Obviously, this means Mangadex will have to comply with (legitimate) DMCAs in the future, so many uploads are/will be at risk of being taken down. Therefore, it really comes down to whether more publishers will be as short-sighted to target the least evil of manga piracy sites and send further DMCAs waves now... Additionally, there might be further rule changes regarding what is allowed to be uploaded to which title but so far that hasn't happened.
As things stand, uploading on Mangadex at the very least is still one of the best (and most convenient) ways to get your stuff on a majority of aggregators out there.

Q: What's next? / What about my read markers and comments?
An old v3 feature, allowing to show chapter metadata only without being able to actually read a chapter/access its images, is planned to re-release ASAP [A]. This will include your read markers as well as comment threads.
This also means that, even if a reading progress/library exporter existed, it won't work until then. And no, before you ask I can't recommend one (feel free to recommend something to put here), but it looks like T10_ considers making one [A].

Q: Is the removal of chapters permanent? / Can I appeal the removal of my chapter(s)?
As things stand, Mangadex staying compliant with the DMCA notice is the most likely outcome. However, there are plans to show who took down a chapter and when. This means you will be able to file a DMCA counter notice to challenge the takedown if you so wish (good luck with that).
Additionally, if you believe (and can prove) chapters that aren't licensed by a publisher were removed incorrectly, you can report those on MD's end.

Q: Why are there sometimes chapters left?
Because of the nature of a DMCA takedown request, only chapters available at/before the time when the takedown request was issued were removed. It seems like the plan for chapters uploaded after the creation of this snapshot is to still be removed, probably to avoid further DMCAs [A].

Q: Can we still upload new chapters to titles that were affected by the DMCA? / What about reuploading removed chapters?
While this is just my speculation as an official statement has yet to be made, I would strongly discourage doing so. Unless publishers suddenly have a change of mind, this would just be asking for more trouble and DMCA takedown requests for Mangadex. Therefore, I wouldn't be surprised if uploads to affected titles get deleted precautionary. This has also been the case for previous DMCAs (although those were on a completely different scale and applied to English chapters only...).
TLDR: No and no, please and thank you.

Q: Why is there no official announcement?

There is (at least somewhat)! See the official FAQ.
I wouldn't be making this one if there was. They'll make one when/if they can share more details. I imagine getting flooded with DMCAs isn't the most comfortable situation to be in, let's give them some time. Meanwhile, I'm pretty sure they're all aware of the situation, so there's no need to reach out to individual staff members...
That being said, I'm sure they are just as unhappy with the situation as you are, so there's no need to vent your frustration at staff. Keep in mind Mangadex is being run by unpaid volunteers...

With that, I think I got the most important bits covered. I might or might not update this, depending on how this whole mess unfolds.
Looks like there are rough times ahead, so let's hope for the best for all of us and the site...
Seems like the moral of the story was to read Manhua all along, didn't think I'd ever say that
There's an official Google Doccy [A <— This archive is broken, I'll just attach a PDF] just listing how many titles got removed & they just gave up after No. 2112.

Funnily enough, around a week before this, people got on MD's ass for trannyfying femboys & crossdressers. This was also MangaDex's fault too.
This is too autistic to get into, so I'll just post link archives:

2 : https://archive.ph/cASyi
3 : https://archive.ph/zQvpL

Follow the links in the exact order to see the whole retardation unfold.

TL;DR - MD labeled an otokonoko manga as "her" & people called them out on it.

Basically, the reverse version of this Tomboy Eradication image:
1000087423.png
Now apparently a few months later, it turns out the piracy site moderator is suddenly following the retarded & hypocritical (anybody who has the most basic knowledge of the absolute state of the country of cUcK knows what I'm talking about here) UK law of all things. The message below is from an admin:
1000087346.webp
(I want you to remember this admin for the future, it's for extremely funny reasons).

Here's the thing, even putting aside the hypocrisy & double-standards of the people & place this rule is a part of, apparently as per the readerbase itself, 95% weren't actually as such to begin with. Hell, some of the mangas didn't even had children, it was macho-man stuff from the 80s & 90s resembling Fist of the North Star more than anything.

Hell, I personally know one of the titles (Kimi wa 008) which barely didn't have any translations to begin with.

Anyone with a brain can tell this was a bullshit excuse (which will turn real in the future) just to let a mass DMCA happen. However, this isn't that far from the future either, as we'll learn in the later parts.

Also, so many titles that weren't even licensed outside of Japan got nuked, it's absolutely ridiculous. Now, unless they were picked up by aggregators, some of these are just now gone completely & these are things that would never be read outside of Japan by & large. Licensed manga also has a nasty habit of disappearing if sales are bad before finishing. Let alone if you're not in like the three places, it's generally published.

But here's the good news, as per this reddit post, a lot of it is archived by the guys at the Dekai Manga Archive.
Some good news about the DMCA loss.
submitted 10 months ago by Pos3idon13

From what I can figure out about 660k chapters were lost in the DMCA takedown. I have contact the people behind Dekai Manga Archive, which back in 2020 archived the entirety of Mangadex up until 2020, although only English releases. From what they have said at the time of the DMCA they were about 92% done with their next archival, and they have estimated they lost about 30-40k chapters. While that is still a lot of chapters, it is nowhere near the 660k. I just thought it would be nice to hear a little bit of good news.
Now this is very nice for English speakers... Except, it's through a torrent that somebody has to reupload onto other websites & nobody will know exactly what the last couple thousand deleted chapters were. It's absolutely better than nothing & unarguably still preserved, but I don't believe for a second any of that will make it's way to a readable format outside of the torrent so it's effectively a locked box. You're better of just praying to Nyaa.si had the shit you're looking for uploaded to it, or just trying for an aggregator site (which actually has a higher chance of working).

Doubly so because, y'know, it's going to be like 10 TB & thus only have maybe a couple thousand complete archives, & I think we all know that sneedboxes aren't eternal.
Before we get into the enshitification after the buy-out, let's get into who bought Manga Dex to begin with. NamiComi.
NamiComi is a for-profit licensed manga hosting site that took over MD management a while back after the 2nd big round of DMCA takedowns.
1000087431.png
The admins on site or reddit mods have not been transparent regarding how this happened, to the point that it seems like they're intentionally misleading the community about it, & while they have insisted multiple times that "nothing will change because of NamiComi's takeover" (LOL, LMAO even), all indications continue to prove otherwise.

The CEO of NamiComi is Henry Hanxuan Lin,
aka Holo,
aka Owner & Founder of Doki Fansubs,
aka Owner & Founder of MangaDex,
aka Founder & CEO of Namicomi.

The UK Companies House filings have him as 'Dr.'
1000087354.jpg
What's his doctorate?
Dr Henry Lin PhD University of Cambridge in Biotechnology (2017) & (ironically) a PGCert Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary University of London (2020)

As you can tell, he's Britoid, & more precisely, from Londonistan, & so is NamiComi. As such, if you remember this faggotry from before in this post:
1000087358.jpg
Before going further, a little fun fact about EtherealNeko here
1000087356.png
This "female" has just joined in 20th August 2024. This creature is a NamiComi company-plant who most likely is a troon. Yes, MD is being jannied by a (possibly) trooned-out, tourist with admin-powers. It being a troon may not even be surprising cause I personally remember one of the MD mods was an ESL troon who was on record supporting Keffals, & even had a dox on this very site once.

Another reason of why I think it might be a looney-troon is due to this.
1000087357.jpg
They actually have to follow this. But what makes it funny is that Mangadex staff have previously said they don't need to follow the UK Online Safety Act because their terms & conditions say they're under Delaware &, which isn't how that works. Its funny and sort of predictable that as it turns out the 11 payrolled staff of the:
> Former Tutor CEO.
> 1 Programming Socks Wearer.
> 10 "graphics design is my passion"ates.
And hundreds of people working as jannies for free (some of them being lolcows, with a few even mentioned on this very site) don't understand the law & have no grasp on the systems they need to actually implement.

In other words, due to them being in the Sharia State of cUcK, someone can charge an Ofcom with complaints that they host child porn & violate the UK Online Safety Act. If Ofcom will sue Reddit for £14 million & take this website to court imagine what they'll do to MangaDex.
1000087355.png
With this treasure, someone can summon the Sharty to rape that website.

Now Henry didn't make this plan immediately, this was planned as a dream since 2019.
1000087429.jpg
This was but a passing statement, but it's known now that the noose was always there to hang this nigger.

Another reason which makes the handover worse is that NamiComi is registered in Britain because the CEO Henry Lin, is British. This is also why the admin all of a sudden care about following British & Australian law.

Now, I would like to clear one thing here, it's not JUST Henry himself that's the problem. He has another partner in crime, his co-conspirator Tristan Deloche, Co-Founder & CIO of NamiComi aka Tristan9 the dev of MangaDex v5.
1000087353.png
The worst part is that the mods don't "own" MD to begin with. It's a community project that thousands have donated time, money, servers, & effort to, just to have a chosen few give it away to a for-profit company on our behalf, but without considering what we think about the matter. However, the thing that gets lost here is that NamiComi is created, owned, & operated by an MD admin who wanted to monetize his position, & that dumbassery is why we're here.

To put into perspective just how community driven MangaDex originally is,
1000087352.jpg
A large chunk of mangadex library were uploaded by /a/ anonymous, FOR FREE. Is he expecting to give compensation to each & every one of them?

As for having "millions of users per week, let alone month".... Those millions of users that are only using it specifically because its free cause normalfags usually don't read manga, they watch anime, & considering this faggot's been planning to go legit, surely he's thought of a plan if this blows up in his face.

As for "having monopoly in the scanlation scene" he has as the "boss of scanlation"... Yeah, for those who have no idea, the closest thing Henry & scanlation have with each other is that his fansubbing group mainly translated yuri hentai doujins & never even scanlated any battle shonen manga, much less seinen manga. Does a hentai translator / anime fansubber who only translates animated lesbian porn, should really have the balls to call himself the boss of the scanlation scene?

Frankly, I didn't retain the specifics but this was all flying around during last year's purge. People were connecting the dots & I "suspect" the mods/admins were stamping out those posts/comments which made it more difficult to get the information laid out. It would also explain how evasive the mods on the subreddit & forum are anytime their relationship with NamiComi is brought up (you can actually get perma-banned for mentioning "Henry Lin"), but I haven't seen any credible evidence proving it.
If you have read all that, what MangaDex is trying to do exactly what Crunchyroll & Fakku did, which is to charge for pirated content, & tell major publishers that if they sign a contract with a high-traffic website then the biggest source of manga piracy disappears overnight, charge for legal content. Especially when it comes to white-collar crime, whether it's "legal" or not only matters if you end up in court. Businesses break laws every single day, & sometimes the victims recognize that what they're being strong-armed into might be more to their benefit than what they can accomplish using the legal system.

That, or going by this:
1000087430.png
They might go the MangaRock/Webtoons route where the irony is that said niche is already filled, nobody wants another place to post their own original content, ironically due to the same centralization set by Webtoons to begin with, same with MangaDex.

Now, with the corporatization all but confirmed, site is already getting worse apart from the usual speed & UI bullshittery. Here are some examples:
Now, after this acquisition, the enshitification started showing minimally yet blatantly.
Apparently there came a point where the series titles were romanized, & they're an affront to not only Kanzenshuu tiers of faggyness, but even an affront to the Japanese language.
1000087427.jpg
>Hasauei.
They engrish'd an English name.
1000087426.jpg
>Gauruzu Zonbi Pauti.
This is basic Katakana shit here, for those who are too Dekinai & don't speak the moon rune language of Japanese, Katakana is usually used for borrowed words. This isn't a translation as much a transliteration, aka Engrish.
1000087425.jpg

Here, they used actual Katakana... When even the cover page uses KILLER'S FAMILIA in fucking English.

And here's my personal favourite:

They want to be so corporate that the well-known title - Claymore - is now this romanized shit. Eventhough, once again, it's ij Latin alphabet on the very original cover.
1000087424.jpg
This makes me wanna Kurei Moa.
The about us page is the most blatant example of the corporatization of the site.

Here's what it looked like in 2024:
1000087351.png
Here's what it looks like in 2026:
1000087349.png
Now, from what I've read, they removed the staff list back in 2025, one of the reasons being literal threats to multiple staff members.

Now even if this is true, that's not the crux of the issue here. If you would notice, suddenly, the whole thing changed from:
"MangaDex is an online manga reader that caters to all languages. MangaDex is made by scanlators, for scanlators, and gives active scanlation groups complete control over their releases. All of the content on our site is uploaded either by users, scanlation groups, and in some instances the publishers themselves."
To:
"MangaDex is an online community for the discovery, tracking, and reading of manga and comics that caters to all languages. MangaDex is made for content creators like mangaka and comic creators, translators, rightsholders, and more, providing complete control over their content."
Screams more "official" than "piracy" honestly.
And now we're here & it's only going to get worse. If you haven't found a new site yet then you're behind the curve because MD is circling the drain. All that hard work to get your website back from a hacker only to get purged again by the people you trusted to manage.

Honestly, the pattern recognizing nooticer in me is even saying that the "hack" was not a real hack at all but a strategy time for the former owners & devs to handover the site, but what do I know, I could just be schizoing out here.

TL;DR: They're facing the curse of banning /ourgoy/ Rapeman.

Been watching the classic Bubblegum OVAs, awesome cyberpunk action leagues better than most anime today.

However, the OVAs made me think of another OVA I barely recall, which maybe you guys can recognize. I know the bad guy was possibly an old man who used a bathroom with hidden buttons that descended to his secret, hi-tech base (the stall being a literal throne). I believe the heroines used portable chips of some sort to transform into different power armors, and I recall at one point of said girls (or maybe an enemy), is cut in half. Ideas? It's likely from the 90s.
Found this OVA! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moldiver

I recall watching it a long time ago. It stands out for its sci-fi setting that's quite upbeat and positive, a novelty nowadays. Nothing world-changing, though.
But, right in the second-to-last episode, the mooks of the bad guy, the Mecha Girls (aka hot robot women), are defeated, but one still manages to sabotage an ongoing space launch, even though it takes their lives. The thing is that that scene was surprisingly graphic and violent, and comes out of nowhere, with the bleeding torso of the remaining villain dragging herself to the detonator. It felt jarring back then, and it is now. Moreover, the ending shows these girls reconstructed fine and dandy, so I dunno why there was such a gory scene.

Honestly, the pattern recognizing nooticer in me is even saying that the "hack" was not a real hack at all but a strategy time for the former owners & devs to handover the site, but what do I know, I could just be schizoing out here.
I believe it wasn't long after the Hombre incident (when everyone saw that the backend which was somehow worse than 4chan's) or the move to v3 that Holo stepped down and supposedly fucked off into the sunset. Glad to know everyone's a faggot I guess.
Overall good writeup. I had no clue that Holo openly intended to go legit since I only access MD via my scraper. I don't know if it's a case of troll's remorse or he's just greedy but it's a constant problem in this space. Regardless it confirms my theory that NamiComi's in the process of pulling a HH+Fakku and is one contract away from nuking it all.

There's a few things I wanted to add (spoilering to not clutter the thread):

From what I remember the tracker spreadsheet was started by someone from the community so it's not "official". They've been very silent about it but supposedly the list of what got nuked will be added to their canary later this month.
1774549817.webp

You mentioned it earlier but NamiComi is not a UK-based company, but that's not the end of the story. The listing also says on the page their jurisdiction is in the US, according to both the U.K's Find/Update Company registrar and Delaware's Division of Corporations search. Additionally, Henry/Holo isn't a PSC of Nami but he's still a director. I know jack shit about UK corpo law but according to this article it means he's liable if shit hits the fan. Whether or not this counts as Nami doing business in the UK is also beyond my knowledge. In case anyone wants to check, NamiComi's DE filing no. is 6832837.
1774542028.webp1774542127.webp1774543307.webp

I saw someone on /a/ say that there's an SEC filing stating they are NYC-based and tracked down their filings myself to verify. They didn't claim to be NYC-based but it turns out their Place of Business is in NYC which is still odd for a Delaware company. I'm not a US corporate law expert either so someone will have to ELI5 the discrepancy.
1774542463.webp

Mangadex also has a US division, which is also in Delaware. Founded MARCH 2nd, 2026, filing no. 10530837.
1774542952.webp
Neither the US or UK divisions have filed any statements, I have no idea who owns what and if they have the rights to Mangadex in the first place. This is more important for MDUK because if they aren't legimiately (lol) representing Mangadex in the UK then the OSA might not apply depending on how the lawsuit by :null: goes.
By the way, "MangaDex" is not a registered trademark, wordmark, or copyright. In theory anybody can register MD and fuck over the whole operation as they don't even own the copyright to their illegitimate business.

One of the MD staff uploads loli/shota despite them grandstanding on how bad it is and purging it back in Feb. Normally I wouldn't care but it's funny when you make a big stink about it while your own staff actively contributes to the same thing.
1774544964.webp1774544889.webp

Holo founded Doki
Why am I not surprised? Doki is part of the Nyaa.si Cartel (along with SubsPlease/HorribleSubs/ASW/MTBB and others) which has been slowly killing Nyaa since the .se split and registrations were closed. These were the same guys that threatened to revoke upload perms to anyone using Nyaa.pantsu.cat (the community's successor to Nyaa.si) which ultimately killed it. Allegedly they are charging $500 for new regs but I can't confirm that.

There's some sort of rivalry between Weebcentral and Mangadex. It's not important but I found it funny.
1774545919.webp1774545913.webp
If I had to guess it's probably because Nepnep openly doesn't give a fuck about DMCAs like a proper piracy site and it poses a threat to Mangadex trying to get those juicy Kadokawa contracts. Or AnonymousContributor just a schizo.
1747291726645.webp

Now that I think about it, it's fishy that MD continues to operate as a literal corporation with no OPSEC whatsoever but alternatives like Comick (also with poor OPSEC) get canned almost immediately. Obviously bad OPSEC when running a site like this is asking for it, but when comparing like-for-like there's definitely something going on behind the scenes.

It also turns out Mangadex updated their privacy policy during the rollout on the 24th. I read it for the first time in forever and it's a lot more invasive (see section 4) than I remember last I checked (and there's no Short/Long version either). They seem to block scrapers as neither Wayback or archive.today have anything recent so I'm copying it here:

You can opt out of allowing us to collect this information either by refusing access to the information or by disabling your Location setting on your device. However, if you choose to opt out, you may not be able to use certain aspects of the Services.

    1. For EU or UK users. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR require us to explain the valid legal bases we rely on in order to process your personal information. As such, we may rely on the following legal bases to process your personal information:
      1. Consent: We may process your information if you have given us permission (i.e., consent) to use your personal information for a specific purpose. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
      2. Performance of a contract: We may process your personal information when we believe it is necessary to fulfill our contractual obligations to you, including providing our Services or at your request prior to entering into a contract with you.
      3. Legitimate interests: We may process your information when we believe it is reasonably necessary to achieve our legitimate business interests and those interests do not outweigh your interests and fundamental rights and freedoms. For example, we may process your personal information for some of the purposes described in order to:
        1. send users information about special offers and discounts on our products and services;
        2. develop and display personalized and relevant advertising content for our users;

      4. Legal obligations: We may process your information where we believe it is necessary for compliance with our legal obligations, such as to cooperate with a law enforcement body or regulatory agency, exercise or defend our legal rights, or disclose your information as evidence in litigation in which we are involved.
      5. Vital interests: We may process your information where we believe it is necessary to protect your vital interests or the vital interests of a third party, such as situations involving potential threats to the safety of any person.
    2. For Canadian users: We may process your information if you have given us specific permission (i.e., express consent) to use your personal information for a specific purpose, or in situations where your permission can be inferred (i.e., implied consent). You can withdraw your consent at any time. In some exceptional cases, we may be legally permitted under applicable law to process your information without your consent, including, for example:
      1. if collection is clearly in the interests of an individual and consent cannot be obtained in a timely way;
      2. for investigations and fraud detection and prevention;
      3. for business transactions provided certain conditions are met;
      4. if it is contained in a witness statement and the collection is necessary to assess, process, or settle an insurance claim;
      5. for identifying injured, ill, or deceased persons and communicating with next of kin;
      6. if we have reasonable grounds to believe an individual has been, is, or may be victim of financial abuse;
      7. if it is reasonable to expect collection and use with consent would compromise the availability or the accuracy of the information and the collection is reasonable for purposes related to investigating a breach of an agreement or a contravention of the laws of Canada or a province;
      8. if disclosure is required to comply with a subpoena, warrant, court order, or rules of the court relating to the production of records;
      9. if it was produced by an individual in the course of their employment, business, or profession and the collection is consistent with the purposes for which the information was produced;
      10. if the collection is solely for journalistic, artistic, or literary purposes; and
      11. if the information is publicly available and is specified by the regulations.

  7. Is your information transferred internationally?

    1. Our servers are located in the United States. If you are accessing our Services from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed by us in our facilities and by those third parties with whom we may share your personal information, in the United States, and other countries.
    2. When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize such information, or, if this is not possible (for example, because your personal information has been stored in backup archives), then we will securely store your personal information and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.
  9. How do we keep your information safe?

    1. We have implemented appropriate and reasonable technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process.
    2. However, despite our safeguards and efforts to secure your information, no electronic transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot promise or guarantee that hackers, cybercriminals, or other unauthorized third parties will not be able to defeat our security and improperly collect, access, steal, or modify your information.

    1. Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems and mobile applications include a Do-Not-Track ("DNT") feature or setting you can activate to signal your privacy preference not to have data about your online browsing activities monitored and collected. At this stage, no uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized. As such, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals or any other mechanism that automatically communicates your choice not to be tracked online. If a standard for online tracking is adopted that we must follow in the future, we will inform you about that practice in a revised version of this privacy policy.

    1. We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated "Revised" date and the updated version will be effective as soon as it is accessible.

Frankly, I didn't retain the specifics but this was all flying around during last year's purge. People were connecting the dots & I "suspect" the mods/admins were stamping out those posts/comments which made it more difficult to get the information laid out. It would also explain how evasive the mods on the subreddit are anytime their relationship with NamiComi is brought up, but I haven't seen any credible evidence proving it.
I mean Jewcob only scanlated a handful of doujins yet Fakku wound up with a duopoly on the EN hentai market. It's hard to emphasize just how similar this is to Fakku's purges in 2015/16. .
I'm not a fan of E(x)Hentai but have something going with H@H and the distributed torrent tracker. Torrents might be harder since manga chapters constantly get updated/corrected but something from the ground up like H@H with chapter statuses tacked onto the DHT would be perfectly serviceable and impossible to take down.

I think at this point Mangadex deserves its own thread, especially as they continue to circle the drain. There's more than enough background information and fuck ups for an OP, but whether enough people care is another thing.

I have some Evangelion questions musings etc.

Yui dies in a freak accident. Her soul is in Eva 01, Asuka's mom in 02. Naoko in 03 (?)
All the trauma that happens to Shinji....is his mom meant to be sort of an antagonist? Or she's with him spiritually speaking?
EoE aka depression the movie. Its believed Anno did it because of the death threats and shit. However glimpses in the final two episodes hint that everyone is pretty much gonna die anyway. People point to Misato's death as proof that the show isnt 'just another mecha' but the show proper already proves this. (Asuka bathtub suicide and mind rape, Naoko vs Rei vs Ritsuko vs Rei clones, Kaji's death, etc)
As for Rei, she's the poster child of the franchise but in EoE she's technically the antagonist (?) next to Gendo in that her form is created when the world dies and.....yeah my brain is gone. I can't comprehend it.
Rebuild ends more positively except Misato died......
Was Kaworu meant to be a one off or did his popularity actually increase his role in media following EoE?
Oh god I'm terrified at what Yoko Taro will do.

BTW Maison Ikkoku anniversary yesterday
