Anecdotes aren't good as evidence in a debate, sure, but if you want to get really pedantic, unless you're conducting the experiments/research/studies yourself, you're simply going off the word of people who you have never met before who have credibility given to them by other people you've never met before. Placing your faith in strangers isn't inherently the right call for any given situation.
