Question for everyone in the thread: do you still watch Game Grumps?

If not, when did you stop and when was it made apparent to you they've declined in quality? Ever watch any old episodes? If you had to, which ones? As a fun bonus question, why do you check in on this thread? Doubt this counts as powerlevelling, since it's on topic and not that personal. Plus nothing interesting's been happening with the Grumps for months, might as well sperg ourselves. Get a bit of discussion about their actual content going.

We've had a couple people talk about this in the thread before but it'd be cool to get a general consensus, maybe make a poll or something. (I'm too retarded and lazy to make a decent one.)

To avoid doubleposting I've spoilered my own answers.
I haven't watched GG in years, didn't even really know they got into the woke shit, since I watched them so infrequently towards the end. I think the last year I watched them was 2017, only a handful of vids, if that. Knew they made Dream Daddy, had no real clue what that was until the whole DD and Julian thing. Came back exclusively for Doodle Doods (RIP), didn't watch any of their other output and bounced once that was done.

I realised a decrease in quality ~2016, but kept up with some of their vids because I thought they occasionally had a funny bit and it wasn't nails on a chalkboard bad like the few new vids of theirs I've been exposed to due to this thread.

I'm pretty fond of the Jon episodes and some of the early Dan stuff, though I realise it's almost 100% nostalgia (with the Dan stuff at the very least). One of the main draws to me once Jon left was Steam Train. Kind of a shame Ross is a total non-entity on the channel these days but that's probably for the better.

I've been trying to watch all the old Jon stuff in chronological order for a couple years now as pleasant background noise, but I just always forget about putting it on while doing shit. Would be fun to revisit the adventure game playthroughs of Steam Train, but same story, plus no clue how much I'd enjoy them now.

I check in 'cause 2019 was a shitshow of a year for them, it was genuinely fun to follow. Last year wasn't as eventful unfortunately. Checking a thread on their dumbassery is way more interesting than sitting through hours of their content to maybe get half a minute's worth of ironic enjoyment. Arin's an embarassing manchild with no self awareness. Obvious statement is obvious. (As a sidenote I've lurked on this site for over half a decade but never felt compelled to make an account, since none of the cows' threads I read were currently ongoing, it was more of a backlog thing.)
 
I started to drop interest in the grumps when they did that bad teddy bear game way back in the Jon era and then fully stopped when Jon left

Ever since then I just checked in on drama about them if it sprung up so they were entertaining me in the worst way possible because internet drama is the best trash TV that trash TV wishes it was

My jumping off point was the time that ST started consistently being just Arin and Ross instead of Dan and Ross. I liked Jon way better, however things like Space Quest and Skyrim kept me interested at least enough to keep watching off and on until then. I just didn’t care for Arin at all without having Jon to play off of.

I think I stopped right before my final semester of high school (around January 2019) after that I just started to enjoy other forms of media that were basically "dudes talking" shit like cumtown podcast and the TPB podcast park after dark. I sometimes watch the older fanmade compilations but it's rare that I do. I still check into this thread the same reason i do the jerry peet/lily peet thread, they were a major figure in my preteen years that i wanna see turn to shit in my older years knowing better.

I think I stopped watching Game Grumps shortly after Dan arrived, but I stuck with Steam Train for a little longer. Never saw it devolve into just Arin and Ross. Kinda pulling a year out of my ass, but I think it was around 2015, based on some of the years other people have mentioned. I've sometimes thought about throwing on some of the old episodes I remember being funny, but ultimately end up putting something else on for background noise.

At first, I really only checked the thread because I was familiar with the Grumps. In general, if I used to watch something/someone that has a thread on here, I'll give it a follow. I'd say I continue lately because they've been producing a fair amount of drama, and it's fascinating/entertaining to see them continue to make poor decisions/how the fans end up justifying it.

Nah, I used to be a huge NormalBoots fan so I was really only there for John. When he left I stopped watching. From this thread though I have discovered the TIHYDP videos which are hilarious to me; so I guess in a way I watch them through that.

Same I was just checking in on them as an "Oh hey I remember those guys wonder what they've been up to?" but the salt and drama Airin is capable of producing has me hooked. The fake Uncle fiasco was probably my moment last year.

Jon leaving Game Grumps was the worst thing for that channel.

Arin turning full autistic Lets Player over his animations were the absolute worst thing for him. Now we just have a cuck who slobbers over SJW topics and refuses to acknowledge when he's in the wrong.

Sometimes I miss the decent days.

From time to time if I think what particular game is being played might be amusing but it's such a crapshoot on whether or not there's a single speck of passion or interest. The channel's quality has had enough drops that I've unsubbed and if I really want to see anything like that there's literal piles of Best Ofs that edit out the cruft of any particular playthrough. I've gone back to watch some of their older episodes and I still think they hold up but there's some nostalgia for certain, Jon was why I'd even heard of the channel or Arin at all.

These days finding out how much of a colossal fuck-up and hypocrite Arin is provides more entertainment than their 'work' has in years. I'm still staggered over how much money the channel can bring in from incredibly low quality streams, yet his royal floridian majesty barely deigns to do them.

I stopped once Jon left as I couldn't find Arin and Danny's chemistry very funny at all. The best series was definitely Sonic 06 for me.

But now it's just a dumb youtube channel with no purpose other than to grab free money from braindead morons rampantly watching unfunny lets plays. The only real Lets Play type channel i can watch anymore is OneyPlays as at least it's more like a podcast.

Ditto. The Jon era was great, and Danny early on was pretty alright aswell, but something happened around 2016/2017 that completely turned me off of the channel. It's just not the same anymore.

Oney Plays fills the same shoes for me nowadays. Atleast they're cracking jokes and having fun with the games instead of being confused about how the game is played after skipping the tutorial like the Grumps always do. That and people like Psychicpebbles are just infinitely more entertaining to listen to than Arin or Danny

I stopped watching when the jokes started to get stale and the playthroughs started to get REALLY fucking bad. Arin's constant bitching and moaning about mundane shit in video games is like hammering a nail into your temple. I'm 100% convinced the fucker is retarded, in every meaning of the word. Someone that has played video games as a kid would know how to apply basic functions and strategies with newer games. They DO NOT loose the skills they acquired over-time but somehow Arin has found a way to do it. Either that, or he's fucking lying and ALWAYS just sucked, with the exception of like a handful of titles, maybe. What get's me the most is his higher-than-thou holy attitude like he knows more than anyone else and acts like he has authority just because he made a popular sequelitis video that even schools were playing in class as lessons. His rants about Sonic is the equivalent of using a 2x4 to beat the grinded pulp of what used the be the dead horse. His Pokemon "knowledge" is so fucked beyond comprehension and logic that you just wanna deck the guy every time he opens his mouth. ( Proof 1 and 2 ). Hearing the same "poopoo/peepee gay sex suck my dick" jokes 289376423489672 times makes my eyes roll around more times than a ferris wheel. Reading through the long 2020 year review that OmnipotentStupidity posted and getting to the Sonic 2 part about Arin having to use fucking SAVE STATES to get Super Sonic was cringy as fuck. It's almost like Arin has little-to-no muscle memory (or short term memory) and can't get the patterns down for the special stages, which even though are tricky later on, are fuckin piss easy for the most part.

Only time I watch older episodes is if John's in them. Otherwise I've given up on GG as a whole. Last time I cheked here was when Arin was going on a deleting rampage, but after that it's just been sad, dumb, and specifically in Arin's case obnoxious and annoying.

I watched from the beginning of GG to Mario 1 on NES. After that I lurked r/Ventgrumps for a while and stopped reading it regularly after the Suzy Etsy drama happened and I realized I didn't really care anymore and it was too hard to follow on plebbit given the quality of posts.

I officially lost all respect for Arin when they played Sonic Adventure 1 and I realized he didn't have a good reason to not like Sonic, he was just a contrarian asshole high on his own farts and ~youtube fame~.

This thread has been fun and a good way to keep up without having to interact with the autism and vitriol of the main fanbase. It's a set of cows I already have knowledge on so I didn't need to lurk and learn before properly enjoying it.

Less thread-relevant: At the time I started watching Brain Scratch Comms because they did post-commentary videos, meaning wandering around being lost and confused would be cut from videos and the hosts would comment on game design or other shit. I also watch Vinesauce but the fanbase for that is about as autistic as GameGrumps. If you ever want a dose of autism, check out the thread. It's not a lolcow thread but a lot of the regular posters were getting so retarded and autistic that the normal regular posters started to leave.

Thanks to @OmnipotentStupidity for updating this thread so much and with such quality posts. I read all your 2020 round up stuff, it's great.

I got into GG in around 2013-14 because I was a stupid, easy to please kid and I found them funny, like most things that fit that description, they no longer hold my interest at all. I stopped in around 2016-17 after I started my edgy alt-right phase and around that same time I got back into SBFP, who despite not being the best, were still way funnier dumbasses than Dan and Arin.

I never really noticed a decline in quality as much as I noticed myself growing out of their humor. Once you don't find them funny, there's nothing worth watching. The last bit I even remember was the Big Zam one.

Going back to the Jon era was interesting but I didn't care for it since it had no nostalgia factor for me. I was into NormalBoots/Hiddenblock too, so if I wanted to see Jon be funny, I could just watch JonTron.

This thread interests me because Arin is really fucking stupid and only seems to get dumber with every choice he makes and every breath he takes, despite his job being so easy. People constantly compare GG to OneyPlays for good reason, as far as we know, there isn't as much drama and burned money behind it.

Also, Ross is cool.
