So why is it that Game Grumps is struggling enough to finally open a Patreon, when Oney Plays is doing more with less? Is Chris giving out blowies behind the YouTube offices to appeal to the almighty Algorithm? Or is there actually something to Brent and who knows how many others having a six figure salary doing ???

Its all about Costs. Arin wastes hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars into failing projects and loser friends at expensive locals. While Oney reinvests into his actually loyal and genuinely talented friends, all while doing his own side projects on the side that will likely make him more money. Not to mention him being smart and using an inexpensive location.

The 10 people Oney is supporting are also not full time 24/7 employees, as most of them have other projects/sources of income and only jump on to help when he asks. Arin is hiring money drains full time to do dick all in an overly large office space located in an expensive location.

The Grumps have decided to create “Game Grumps ORIGINAL Animations!”, where the Grumps record original dialogue and then commission the animators to make something per their requests.

It’s still Arin and Dan making banter, granted, but it sorta loses whatever charm it had when they’re recorded for the sole purpose of making animated content, and there’s no more spontaneity to it.

Just like with their compilation uploads, explicitly commissioning animations misses the point. The appeal of these kinds of videos has always been fans using their particular talents to show appreciation for something they enjoy... so if you've got to pay them to do it, it speaks volumes honestly.

Good lord that was awful. They could have at least had some background music or something to give it a little life. Surprisingly, despite this being really lifeless and forced as hell, it still felt pretty much exactly like their usual animateds, I wonder why :\

World Famous was without question one of the worst moments that channel has ever experienced. Remember there was a time when Brian thought the concept of "Pee Soup" was so fucking hilarious that he made an entire sketch about it.

This new animated thing feels very very forced. Like they're reading off a script in general, and it's not like flung out of the moment that even has something similar to even their normal routine anymore.

He could've chosen any other charity he's supported to make it less obvious, but of course he chose to advertise for (not donate to himself, heavens no, advertise for) an LGBT+ youth charity that he has never advertised in the past, nor will likely not support further in the future.
If nothing else, the man definitely knows how to pander. Now doing it effectively, that's a different story.
