Question for everyone in the thread: do you still watch Game Grumps?
Yes.
Ever watch any old episodes?
Yes.
If you had to, which ones?
The legend of zelda nes playthrough with Dan.
As a fun bonus question, why do you check in on this thread?
I legitimately find Dan and Arin funny together. They make me laugh. And I find Arin funny too. The reason why is most likely because Arin is a compulsive non-conformist so he can make connections that make people laugh that other people cannot. I'm like a religious person who knows the whole thing is bullshit but still goes to church anyways. I know that game grumps is in decline, and Arin is kind of a shitty person, but as long as I find them entertaining who cares? This makes my relationship with this thread more like a fan coming to a place where other "fans" discuss the show, when in reality I know most people here really don't like Arin Hanson.
I think because I sort of like them I see the situation more objectively than most. I see both the good and bad while many here only see the bad.

Just doing the survey thing for fun. Spoilered so it's not taking up unnecessary space.

Question for everyone in the thread: do you still watch Game Grumps?

If not, when did you stop and when was it made apparent to you they've declined in quality?
No, I don't. I stopped probably five to five and a half years ago. Arin and Dan quickly got really insufferable because they had to walk on eggshells with their then-rapidly increasing fan base. They seemed bored and burnt out with what they were doing, too. I probably tuned out completely around the time they started doing more live-action bits and vidya with celebrities and all that.

It was a good thing though because I got back into SBFP till they broke up. Still keep up with Pat and Woolie's stuff.

Ever watch any old episodes? If you had to, which ones?
Once a year or so, I'll go watch for a bit of nostalgia. If I had to and it was post-JonTron, it'd be Ross and Dan playing any of those old Sierra adventure games. Kings Quest VI, Leisure Suit Larry 1, and LSL 6 are the ones I remember most vividly, but they're all enjoyable from what I recall. If it has to be Dan and Arin, it'd be either Sonic Boom or the episodes where they play a PS2 Wheel of Fortune game and absolutely lose their minds.

As a fun bonus question, why do you check in on this thread?
I like to see if there's any new drama or anything interesting, or if the inevitable demise of the channel has happened yet. It's amazing to me that their content is so mediocre but they seem to coast by into perpetuity. I bet DSP outlasts them though.

As a fun bonus question, why do you check in on this thread? Doubt this counts as powerlevelling, since it's on topic and not that personal. Plus nothing interesting's been happening with the Grumps for months, might as well sperg ourselves. Get a bit of discussion about their actual content going.

We've had a couple people talk about this in the thread before but it'd be cool to get a general consensus, maybe make a poll or something. (I'm too retarded and lazy to make a decent one.)

To avoid doubleposting I've spoilered my own answers.
I haven't watched GG in years, didn't even really know they got into the woke shit, since I watched them so infrequently towards the end. I think the last year I watched them was 2017, only a handful of vids, if that. Knew they made Dream Daddy, had no real clue what that was until the whole DD and Julian thing. Came back exclusively for Doodle Doods (RIP), didn't watch any of their other output and bounced once that was done.

I realised a decrease in quality ~2016, but kept up with some of their vids because I thought they occasionally had a funny bit and it wasn't nails on a chalkboard bad like the few new vids of theirs I've been exposed to due to this thread.

I'm pretty fond of the Jon episodes and some of the early Dan stuff, though I realise it's almost 100% nostalgia (with the Dan stuff at the very least). One of the main draws to me once Jon left was Steam Train. Kind of a shame Ross is a total non-entity on the channel these days but that's probably for the better.

I've been trying to watch all the old Jon stuff in chronological order for a couple years now as pleasant background noise, but I just always forget about putting it on while doing shit. Would be fun to revisit the adventure game playthroughs of Steam Train, but same story, plus no clue how much I'd enjoy them now.

I check in 'cause 2019 was a shitshow of a year for them, it was genuinely fun to follow. Last year wasn't as eventful unfortunately. Checking a thread on their dumbassery is way more interesting than sitting through hours of their content to maybe get half a minute's worth of ironic enjoyment. Arin's an embarassing manchild with no self awareness. Obvious statement is obvious. (As a sidenote I've lurked on this site for over half a decade but never felt compelled to make an account, since none of the cows' threads I read were currently ongoing, it was more of a backlog thing.)
GameGrumps died when JonTron left and I haven't really watched any newer episodes after that. I checked a few episodes years later and the quality is trash compared to the original run.

Will still watch some old ones though.

For people wondering what the joke actually is someone explained it in the comments. It's apparently a running joke that he'll wear a helmet usually with the word "Ham" on it to show that he wants to eat ham (the flag always says Ham on it). So the joke is that this time he doesn't want to eat ham, he wants to eat meat! Ha, what a wacky situation this delightful character has gotten into./sneed

Arin Screenshot_2021-01-12 Arin Hanson, Who Shakes The World on Twitter.png actually retweeted a person who explained part of the joke and said he would send them $100 through Paypal on a previous post, followed by this retweet.

That's probably the coolest way Arin has wasted money in a little while.

This might be the first time that Heathcliff has been semi-relevant since the mid 1980s.
Heathcliff is still a good comic, but the problem is that YouTubers pretending to be “socialist” in name only, started self inserting themselves into cartoon characters that just want to eat their problems away and not deal with people like them.

No.

Officially stopped watching after they stopped making videos on Super Mario Maker. Even before that, I stopped watching daily as soon as Jon fucking left. I was there when the channel was in its first days and I came there because I loved Jon's vids (having had watched him consistently in his golden age from 2011-2012).
Ever watch any old episodes? If you had to, which ones?
No.

But if I did, the Dennis The Menace video and the entirety of the Kirby Super Star lp are kinos. The Steam Train let's play of Mr. President was fucking great as well.
As a fun bonus question, why do you check in on this thread?
To weep about how far Arin Hanson and the channel has fallen.

1. No.

2. Around the time Jontron left, most likely a little before.
3. No.
4. The Rugrats in Paris episode in which arin shoots himself in the head. Far as im concerned thats the series finale.
5. Mostly curious to see what the fuck went wrong. I used to like his earlier stuff but after GG he seems to have devolved into an insufferable faggot. Hell, in the last sequelitus part of his argument was being bad at the game and he was throwing strawmen, while a few years later he started bitching on pelo for having the ever so slightest edge in his humor.

I stopped watching when steam train ground to a halt. I enjoyed Ross' playthroughs because he seemed, at times, to put work into them. In Skyrim with Dan for instance, he had every place and option picked beforehand so there was little time wasted dying or raging on account of sucking, much unlike what usually happens with arin.
Shit I still watch the triple civilization V steam train just because it's funny how they tried playing it like an rts, and all the jokes that came from it.

I stopped watching right after the sonic boom play through was wrapping up I think. There was no watershed moment for me on why I stopped watching, I jus got fed up

I got fed up because Arin and Dan would do nothing but talk about how #blessed they are drinking chia lattes on there way to yoga and finish it with a well deserved artisan kale wrap after a grueling 4 hours playing video games.

I already noticed that Dan and Arins relationship dynamic was a lot of difference than Arins
and Jon’s.

Jon and Arin were explosive, unpredictable and combative which led to some very funny videos. I think what made this work was Arin thinking he’s better than Jon but getting bested and surprised by Jon whiles Jon was always angling for the “funniest outcome”.

Even before Jon left I remember Arin talking about meetings with Dan,
and Arin always regarded Dan as a super cool dude and was starstruck by him.

When Dan was officially brought on I always felt Arin was using kids gloves on him and was acting more subdued.

They would never roast each other, instead they would just brag about how well they’re doing in LA and that Dan was extremely grateful to Arin because Arin basically saved Dan from becoming homeless. Arin was super grateful that a super cool rockstar like Dan would hang out with him.

it was a circle jerk and I just couldn’t listen to it anymore. “no way you went to that Pho place on sunset? So cool!”. They both were too in love to fight and the only real humor came from a game being basically broken.

I recently YouTube suggested a compilation video of them and I watched it and it was not funny. It was just Dan mimicking that Orson Welles of wine commercial for like 20 mins.

I only checked the thread because it was the top of most recent posts.

Is this dynamic shift why half their current views and merch sales come from femcels who want them to get gaymarried?
(The other half being troon children, probably.)

I stopped watching in 2018, around the time the first 10 Minute Power Hour released. Maybe it was even the final straw, I can't really remember ("Why are they doing weird IRL stuff now?"). I just remember looking at their channel and the daily 3 videos and just went "You know what? Fuck this." I was sick of Arin's constant moralfagging every episode and only ever shutting the fuck up about it when he had to scream about poop or his penis. They went from being my favourite channel, to just being a part of my routine, to their videos being a complete chore to watch.
Their decline in quality was probably around 2016 though. It's funny, I remember I subscribed literally 1 day before Jon left, yet if I rewatch any GG content it's usually Jon stuff, but some early Dan stuff was pretty good as well. I notice now though that I probably never rewatched anything past 2015.

Why do I check this thread? Well aside from the usual "where are they now?" curiosity, honestly I'm just checking to see if Arin's trooned out yet lol. I'm shocked that I didn't check KF or this thread for several months and he still hasn't, considering the year we've just had.

Do you still watch Game Grumps?
No

I stopped watching daily once Jon left, but came back for a while exclusively for their original Mario Maker videos where they played Ross's maps.
Jon leaving is the hard cutoff for my interest in them, and you could really feel that he was the one carrying the show once he was gone.

Ever watch any old episodes?
No, the closest I've gotten is watching the occasional old GG animated.

If you had to, which ones?
I honestly don't remember a whole lot from the Jon era TBH, Sonic 06 is the only one that's clear in my memory. The OG Mario maker vids I would probably still enjoy.

Why do you check in on this thread?
It's super interesting to me to see the "man behind the curtain" of YouTube personalities and their utter degeneracy. It's the same reason I follow the Jim Sterling and DSP threads.

I stopped watching regularly over a year ago because there were too many episodes in a row where Arin was barely awake and clearly did not give a shit.

Also him throwing Newgrounds under the bus.
