Oh crap, now that they have a pateron they won't resort to begging Jon to do a guest appearance.
It must sting Arin's ego to be forced to make a Patreon but unfortunately this will just cement them on YT for years to come. Their paypigs have invested too much time in this friend simulator that they'll pay even more for that facsimile of a real human relationship to continue.

The fact that Arin was the protagonist of Twitter for a second because he said he was going to play the glitchiest version of a fan favourite Sonic game says so much about both him and the fandom. On the one hand, it's pretty petty from an outsider's perspective that fans would be that outraged about this but when you look into why that is you honestly can't blame them and it's no doubt the reason Sega's caught on that Sonic fans fucking hate him. It's also just crazy how unaware he was that doing that would backfire on him, like he just thought "wow lol rather than playing this fan favourite Sonic game in its best form and enjoying it, I'll just play the most broken version! Yeaaaah I'm such a big fan of the series!" and thought nobody be more than a little niggled by that, considering he's gotten shit for years over doing exactly that.

i'm not even really annoyed about arin saying dumb shit thats what he does hes a moron, what annoys me are the faggots that defend him and say what a good guy he is because he gives them money!

People have been asking them to play Sonic Colours for years because it's a genuinely solid game without any notable glitches or questionable themes for him to use as low-hanging fruit to make fun of and he's ignored them, presumably because he'd have to come up with more insightful commentary than just "this game's bad, Sonic's bad, how was I supposed to know [x]" - yet the minute a broken port shows up he immediately jumps on it.

It's not even people being mad he doesn't like the games, just that the whole performative anger over a broken game act was exhausted over a decade ago. In the Sonic LPs he's basically a late-2000s AVGN clone, but without the script or time limit to keep it digestible.

It's funny you say that because I've always thought that Arin has been like that for years for any game he plays, and it's exactly the kind of AVGN clone he makes fun of in this classic Mickey Mousecapade episode https://youtu.be/u-LfKbCR0MI

In other news, (I dunno if it's worth mentioning here but) Steve Dorian/LemonyFreshTwit, a long time Game Grumps animator, has died unexpectedly

I'm a little confused. Arin has always purposely played Sonic games with glitches and problems. Why are they suddenly upset about it now?
From what I've noticed it's a thing that has sort of boiled to a point over several years, with more sonic fans getting fed up with him each time he purposely plays a glitchy version of a sonic game, and it was really the Sonic Heroes playthrough that brought that to the edge that we see now where he accidentally revealed that he does exactly that, with a page of a rom site with Sonic Heroes on PS2 (the worst version of the game) bookmarked. He attempted to milk it one too many times without letting the sonic fans simmer down first from the last time.

In other words, Arin was too eager to milk sonic too fast that everyone except his dickriders noticed.

There's the fact that he's milking it, plus a lot of the time the problems he runs into with Sonic games are self-inflicted. It's fair to rip apart games for being a broken, glitchy mess, but more often than not when he's having trouble with a Sonic game it's because he's not paying attention and is idiotically jumping around aimlessly and not learning from his mistakes - and trying to use the "hurdurr Sonic bad" thing as an excuse.

Dan basically being a yes-man doesn't help; it's unavoidable because he's unfamiliar with most of these games and his only experience with them is watching Arin play them poorly, but hearing him echo what Arin's saying and laughing along with him rather than ribbing him and telling him to git gud only rubs people the wrong way even further.

Hypothetically speaking, if Jon was there he would ask "Why are we playing this shitty version of the game?" Then he would physically pull the controller out of Arin's sweaty hands, deep clean it, and then try to play it correctly.

Jon is a big fan of Starfox 64, I wouldn't assume he's a big enough Sonic fan to pressure Arin into playing a certain version especially if we're talking about late GameGrumps Jon when he barely gave a shit at all.
I mean I remember he was shilling Sonic Adventure to Arin during the Sonic 06 playthrough around the beginning of it, but Arin was having none of it, but I also found this little exchange a few days ago that relates to this topic.

It certainly doesn't seem to me like Jon's above having his opinions on Sonic swayed by Arin (which doesn't surprise me tbh. Jon's fucking hilarious but he's not sharpest tool in the shed). I gotta say, the fact that Arin was like "see? the game you like IS terrible" any time Jon got annoyed at it is so fucking douchey.

That was one of the great things about their dynamic imo, the fact that they'd actually fight each other on things. I think that's also why people idolize the Jon era, and why the rage compilations get so many views, because it had that kind of high energy that most people don't seem to get nowadays.

That's very true. Even if you disagreed with one of them, it didn't matter because listening to them argue like that was fun. Hell, Game Grumps was originally conceived because Jon and Arin were arguing about whether or not Wolf was a Fox clone in Smash Bros, and Ross was endlessly amused by it.
