Shots fired after federal police in Minneapolis struggle to subdue man brandishing gun amid protests, video shows​

Shots rang out in Minneapolis early Saturday after federal police tried to subdue a man who was waving around a gun, according to law enforcement sources and video posted to social media.

A 39-second clip showed about half a dozen cops struggling with someone on the sidewalk in front of a donut shop at 26th Street and Nicollet Avenue, when the gunfire erupted.

The officers appeared to scatter after the barrage of shots went off, according to the footage.



The shooting happened after the man brandished a firearm with two magazines, a law enforcement source told The Post, sharing a photo of the firearm.

In a statement, city officials urged residents to stay calm and avoid the area.


“We are aware of reports of another shooting involving federal law enforcement in the area of 26th Street W and Nicollet Ave. We are working to confirm additional details,” the statement said.

More than 100 protesters had been at the scene when the encounter occurred. The man’s condition was not immediately known.





On Friday, protesters yelled obscenities at two people wearing plain clothes who they believed to be agents after protesters claimed their rental car was linked to the incident, according to video reviewed by The Post.

Neither person was an officer.



Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.) posted about the incident on X late morning Saturday as the details of the shooting were still unfolding.

“I just spoke with the White House after another horrific shooting by federal agents this morning. Minnesota has had it. This is sickening,” he wrote.

“The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.”


Neither the White House or the Department of Homeland Security have said what precipitated the shooting, and did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

This is an underrated point. People have mentioned it elsewhere but libs really do see nigs as brainless babies who cant be helf accountable for what they do. Therefore when any other race gets domed for doing stupid shit, most liberals dont care because he's not one of the poor special babies who's still genetically traumatized from slavery. Now when Floyd ODed while a policeman did a normal police manuever with his knee hold, that was a bridge too far (because he's black)

I don't think he anticipated getting dogpiled so quickly. He committed the cardinal sin of having a draw slower than the time it takes to close the distance. If you're reaching for the gun when you're about to hit asphalt and have 5 dudes stacked on you, you've definitely waited too long.

How I imagine Alex Pretti felt reaching for his gun and grabbing a magazine instead:

I disagree, you don't stick a pistol in your belt if you don't want to hurt someone. I agree that he probably thought he was standing up to the fash while he was jerking off in his uncleaned room, but I think the scenario he was envisioning was that he would boldly pop a couple of them after they pushed him down and be an antifa hero, telling people that those mean ol ice guys "found out".

I think he would have done it if that was the plan. I think maybe he wanted to self-defense against some conservative counter-protestors but none showed up to give him the chance.

It sounds like suicide by cop to me. Even accounting for his mental disturbance, it doesn't seem like he had a plan of engagement or escape, and arguing with LEOs while your gun is still in the holster is a pretty poor idea if you want to kill them and get away. If he wanted to be arrested as a legal martyr I don't see why he'd make things more dangerous for himself by choosing to carry on that day. He probably envisioned things going down a little bit more heroically on his part.

What's funny is how the leftoids keep saying, "Oh, so this means they can just shoot him like a dog a week later?" Obviously they are retards, but it's interesting they can't connect that maybe Pretti is the one who thought he had to get revenge on them. Either way, he's a dumb fucking idiot and I'm glad he's gone.

He was carrying without ID, so it doesn't really matter if he had the permit or not.
He was technically not legally carrying, but there would've been no way to know that unless he had allowed himself to be arrested.

In places (like Minnesota) where you have to have a CCW permit, if you don't have it on you while you are carrying, you're not legally carrying. It's usually not a serious crime(depending on where you are, of course), but it may lead to you losing your permit.

I'll hazard to guess that if he had been properly arrested from the first event and found with no ID, he would no longer have his CCW permit, but the locals didn't do shit, so he was free to jump into the foreverbox 11 days later.

It's irrelevant because like others mentioned he apparently didn't have it or his ID on him, which are required when you're armed, and also he was in the commission of a crime at the time, which invalidates it regardless. If you have a permit and get jailed for trying to punch a cop while you're carrying, you will definitely get a firearms charge tacked on. They're pretty clear in concealed carry classes that you are expected to be a model citizen whenever you have a gun on you if you don't want the law coming down on you like a hammer.
