Assassin's Creed thread

I'm just trying to find some logical explanation here, this is even funnier.
DEI rot, plain and simple.
it's what happens when a company doesn't just wave rainbow flags for PR, but drinks the koolaid and staffs everything top to bottom with diversity hires, after the "problematic, toxic white males" that guaranteed the games are not complete dogshit got #metoo'd in 2020.

what you see is the final stage of terminal cancer when having the right pronoun, gender and skin color is more important than merit and professionalism, to the point the host organization stops working due to the sheer incompetence infesting every level.

Huh. Apparently I've been drunk for 20 years. I genuinely didn't know they've had it for that long.
To be fair they haven't actually done anything with the franchise in a decade, so it's easy to forget. But that's also all the more reason to assume they'll just fuck it up.

Exactly this. The company has been top to bottom trash for years now. Same as Bioware, just at a bigger scale because it's the entire publishing company.

After watching some gameplay I'm blown away by how bad the voice acting is. Did they just give up during development and use AI to fill in the voice lines? Its so bad it comes off as unnatural. The music also sucks ass. Looking forward to the shitshow that'll come from the poor sales.
All the AC "RPG" games have been utter slop like this. It's all quantity over quality. Valhalla was particularly bad because the actual audio quality was also terrible to save space or something.
I wasn't expecting the face modeling and lip syncing to be THIS bad however.

One thing I haven't seen anyone bring up yet is that a huge amount of both the male and female npcs are shall we say "strategically missing teeth?"

I was giggling like a moron watching the Synthetic Man stream whenever he came across a literally bucktoothed npc that went

"Herro stranger I honerrable Chinaman in need of herp waka! waka!"

Yes. Greedy too, but mostly out-of-touch. Ubisoft as a company is an old man trying too hard to fit in with the kids, but his understanding of what's "hip" and "in" is always off by at least one year.
Ubislop's biggest problem is their insane level of middle management and oversight. The reason they are so late to the party is because every decision has to go through infinite levels of approval and oversight. Shadows started production in 2017-2018 and then made a change to get into the BLM craze of 2020, but they took five years to finish development, an entire presidential administration passed them by and by the time they released it, the culture has shifted from the Saint Floyd era. This game should've come out in 2021 at the latest.

Keep in mind, this is the company that went all in on Kinect inly to release the games when it was already to late. They released a fucking NFT game just a few months ago. Three years after the entire NFT market crashed.

REMINDER that Ubislop's AAAA pirate game didn't have boarding (when you boarded it was just a 3 second cutscene and it skipped to the loot menu) but RGG's latest Yakuza game which is a quick pirate-themed cash-grab has boarding mechanics and crazy combat on top of the ship's deck.
to be fair RGG like black flag is singleplayer, skull & bones is multiplayer. unless you make all kinds of compromises boarding in a multiplayer game will still be more annoying without it.

iirc s&b doesn't have much on foot action anyway. there are small parts where you run around, but those are peaceful quest areas/hub zones.

Yeah basically. For all intents and purposes this should have been an easy slop game. How they fucked it up this bad is inconceivable.
I remember too back in the day many people were asking for a game set in feudal Japan as far back as the old days like the Ezio trilogy times and I remember their response was literally something like "It's low hanging fruit so we don't want to do it." so it makes me wonder too if this is perhaps out of spite? Not spite towards culture although I'm sure that's a factor but spite towards having to make a game they claimed they didn't want to?
Nope, if you buy their story they apparently had to spend 10 years finding the only fucking nigger Japan had before America bombed their ass to shove in the game. It also pisses me off that they made the ninja of that time period a villain.

Ubisoft used to make Black Flag, now it's Black Fag.
I'm also really thinking these 300 million video game budgets are going to wokegeld, management bloat and marketing.

Just wait until the fallout from B.R.I.D.G.E. starts being seen (the thing that's being mandated behind the scenes right now). You ain't seen nothing yet.
