At least half of them. In real life, Madagascar is 1.6 times bigger then Germany, and the version in AoT is significantly larger, otherwise it wouldn't have room for the Walls and still have so much room to spare. Someone could probably do the math and determine exactly how big Paradis is, but I think it would be safe to say it's twice the size of real life Germany. How many Eldians in Marley do you think there are compared to the dissidents who were 1) captured, and 2) titanized in Paradis instead of Titanized for war purposes or just executed?
AoT seems to have WW1 era technology, so we can assume life expectancy and population are similar. At 1914, at the outbreak of WW1, Germany had a population of 67 million. Despite being double Germany's size, Paradis is absolutely filled with Titans, there's nowhere safe from them. In order for that to be possible, there must be double Germany's population, 134 million, but there are a million living behind the Walls, so we'll cut that number down to 133 million.
Even if my math is wrong, and it probably is, there would still have to be a minimum of 66 million Titans in order for Paradis to be as dangerous as it is. At least 66 million Eldians avoided becoming self-hating racists like Gabi, if so many people can do it, why can't she?
But even before he met Eren, did Falco ever go on one of Gabi's "GAS THE DEVIL, RACE WAR NOW!" rants? Can you honestly see him saying something like that?Falco was in regular correspondence with hobo Eren and was forced to endure a conversation between Eren and Reiner where they literally spell out that they're only fighting to protect what they care about. Gabi didn't get any of that until after she met the Blouses and Niccolo. Assuming that every Eldian Titanized on Paradis was a dissident, it was because a) they were dissatisfied with their status quo, b) they happened upon an Eldian Restorationist gathering, c) they were convinced and willing to become one of them, and d) the Restorationists were able to provide to them a competing historical record.
Even as an adult, Grisha hated his father and thinks he didn't give a shit about him or Faye, and was only mad at him because he was worried about his own life. He says "My father was rather talkative for someone who had just lost his daughter. As he stood there, shaming his forebearers and idolizing his oppressors, he looked just like a whipped dog." It's clear Isayama's intent was to portray his father as a shitty person, even if he later changed his mind.It was pretty clear that Grisha's father was noided to "the walls have ears" levels and wasn't telling Grisha what he actually believed, but rather what he "needed" to believe to not get him and their entire lineage fed to dogs or turned into Titans in ɹɐɔsɐƃɐpɐW.
But that's all a moot point. regardless of why, he tried to brainwash Grisha into hating his blood, and failed, which means Gabi has no excuse and ultimately choose to be a genocidal racist.
No, she planned to literally slaughter everyone on Paradis because she's of the mind that the source of her suffering as a Marleyan Eldian comes from the island Eldians, she doesn't have any non-generalized, non-abstract conception of the island Eldians, and then by complete coincidence they ended up proving her point in her mind by raiding her hometown and killing several of her comrades.
That's not any better. Similar things could be said of America after 9/11, yet the majority of the population wasn't calling for the extermination of every muslim. If you wish for genocide, no one really gives a shit about your reasons, the only reason Eren is the exception is because the manga has made it clear 99% of the outside population is violently racist towards Eldians. It's unrealistic as fuck, but that's what Isayama went with. You can even use Gabi as as an argument for the Rumbling, she shows that the childrne don't even wait until adulthood to commit hate crimes. Yeah, she (supposedly) changed, but she killed a lot of Eldians before that.
Bertolt, Reiner, and Annie let loose Titans in Eren's hometown in order to smoke out the Founding Titan. Erwin considered the residents of Stohess collateral damage in pursuit of capturing Annie. Zeke wants to cut the balls off every Eldian so they can't reproduce ever again, and Eren was last sighted committing Ragnarök on the entire world. Nobody's saying that what Gabi wanted to do was "okay", but this is a narrative where several characters of note either do or plan to do very not okay things for the sake of-- at the root-- their own goals. Like hell am I going to rationalize the actions according to a conventional morality.
This "We've all committed sins and have no right to judge" mindset doesn't mean they're all good people who should settle down and live happy lives, it all means that they're all equally evil and they all deserve to die for their crimes. Why should they be forgiven just because a lot of people do bad shit?
It's weird, you say they're all equally bad, but I don't see you jumping to Eren's defense like you do with Marley.
You mean like all the island Eldians did when their minds were wiped a century prior and they were given a retelling of history where they were the remainder of humanity? Literally everyone spends 80-something chapters either laboring under or trying to break through that very propaganda. The two people who were even slightly ahead of the curve were Erwin and his dad, and the latter got disappeared for it.
Are you seriously comparing propaganda to literally having your memories altered against your will?
