[Eren inhales] Hello, all other males around the world. This is Eren Yeager – your Founding Titan – in Shiganshina District.

Now, listen here, and listen good. I have told you all. I've kept it going TIME AND TIME AGAIN, but you y'all keep putting it on and putting it on.

But... Mikasa Ackerman IS. MINE. Mikasa, needs – to– think– only– about-me! Even if I die, she needs to for 10 years at least!

Now... [Eren is ready to commit genocide] This is, the last, straw! Because for the GOOD, and SAFETY, of this timeline, you need to get your dicks AWAY FROM MIKASA AND WHEREVER ELSE ALL THE DANG FAR AWAY,

AND NEVER DATE MIKASA! MAKE SURE SHE NEVER DATES ANOTHER MALE AND NEVER, EVER THINK ABOUT ABOUT OTHER MALES AGAIN, AND SHE SHOULD MAKE HER OFFICIAL LOVE CONFESSION PUBLIC TELL EVERYBODY!

I am telling you this to warning you:

IF-YOU-CONTINUE-ON-AND-YOU-DO-NOT-LISTEN-TO-ME JEANNNNNNN!

And date Mikasa...

[Eren places his hand on his forehead, realizing he mixed up due to PATHs]

I m-mean you do...

YOU DO NOT DATE MIKASA, YOU CAN'T DATE HER! If you date her, you're going to put this ENTIRE TIMELINE in chaos! So, I'M GIVING YOU THIS, WARNING AND TELL YOU TRUE, AND STRAIGHT UP!

[Eren points intently at the camera]

ONLY DATE ME NOW, MIKASA! NOW!

[Eren pauses for a moment before deciding to commit worldly genocide after being family-zoned, leaving us with a haunting image before Eren decides to go through with his plan]

Merry Christmas
You fucking Islamophobe.
O you who have believed, do not enter the houses of the Prophet except when you are permitted for a meal, without awaiting its readiness. But when you are invited, then enter; and when you have eaten, disperse without seeking to remain for conversation. Indeed, that [behavior] was troubling the Prophet, and he is shy of dismissing you. But Allah is not shy of the truth. And when you ask his wives for something, ask them from behind a partition. That is purer for your hearts and their hearts. And it is not conceivable for you to harm the Messenger of Allah or to marry his wives after him, ever. Indeed, that would be in the sight of Allah an enormity.

It's Levi's birthday today. I have nothing to say about that outside of the fact that practically no one talks about him anymore. It's all about Eren now. Yams probably could've gotten away with killing him off.
I musy say, the manga's ending really have killed any legacy this series have huh? I never see anyone talk about this series again outside of the last season announcement (aside from cosplay, porn, and both). Hell, even the anime's announcement was kind of subdued compared to the previous one

I'd say so. But It was said earlier that its initial popularity came with zombies being the hot thing in pop culture at the time, and My Hero Academia and Sword Art Online would later come to take its title of "hottest shonen title". And then came the rise of isekai....

It's just like GOT. Even if there's a weird subset of Mikasa self-inserters who will defend the ending to the death (the same way Sansa Stark self-inserters will defend GOT's ending), most people are kind of embarrassed to admit they were enthusiastic about it in the first place. Everyone had a good time making fun of it for a couple months after the ending dropped, and now we're all just kind of trying to forget it ever happened. Personally I'm just sticking around to see if the show-only fan meltdown will be as hilarious as the manga fan meltdown.

And even then, couldn’t you argue AOT’s popularity was starting to wane by the time the ending rolled around?

Lol. I thought Negan was "super popular".

The way fans kept talking about him under YouTube comment sections, :story: you'd think he was God's gift to humanity.

The novelty has worn off. People have moved on. Seriously, how long has it been?
Slightly late, but he was super popular in the comics, but the TWD tv series has a much different story and a much different fanbase. The most character in the tv show is Daryl, and he doesn't exist in the comics. If it helps, think of Daryl as the Levi of TWD only he's not nearly as dickish, is actually a really nice guy, and the franchise won't (or previously wouldn't. I dunno about now) instantly collapse if he dies.

I can't quite remember who said it, and I'm paraphrasing here but someone in the production team basically said that fans would hate Negan but wouldn't want him to die because he's that good of a character/that entertaining.

They were wrong.

Negan really fucks up Daryl. He tortures him, makes him eat canned dog food sandwiches, and sleep deprives him by blasting the same song over, and over again all while he's been shot, and lying a fucking disgusting, tiny-ass cell. This goes on for a while, and it really pissed off the tv show fanbase.

This along with all the other shit he's done is only made worse by the fact that tv!Negan is not funny. He's just not. At best he's annoying, and at worst, he's downright insufferable. It's not his actor's fault. He's obviously doing the best he can. It's just material he has to work with and all the atrocious shit his character has to do just makes it extremely hard for the average viewer to like him.

This isn't even to mention he's really overstayed his welcome. Most TWD villains usually go after a season or two. Negan's been around for five.

Tl;dr:
Unfunny murderous lunatic kills off a bunch of fan favorites, brutally tortures the Levi of the show, does a fuckton of other heinous shit, and just fucking refuses to go away.

I could see discussion about the franchise continuing if it didn't go so black vs white near the end, or if it ended in such a way that the fate of the world was left vague, but you got the Avengers storyline at the end where all the heroes team up to defeat Eren/Thanos/Hitler, Eren is just portrayed to a tilted teen angry he couldn't get some asian pussy, and with the additional pages Isayama tacked unto the end its clear that he wants the whole thing buried and gone, bombs fall everyone dies

He torched the entire thing and left

He did leave a potential sequel hook with the kid wandering towards the tree, but I doubt he has any intentions of making more AoT, at least not immediately. I assume he's going to coast off of his royalties for a while and then make a new IP of some sort. Further AoT material would likely come either (A) after he's successfully done something different and can revisit the series with a fresh perspective, or (B) after all his other ventures flop and he's forced to cannibalize his past success.

There's definitely a sequel hook, but Attack on Titan itself is dead and buried, nobody wants to be a fan of a franchise where the story ends with the main character being as pathetic as Eren and everything just ending with massive carpet bombing

At present, it would be a hilariously stupid idea. But give the author 5 or 10 years to broaden his resume and develop some real character writing chops, use the timeskip to wipe the slate mostly clean with a new roster of characters, and make a new story with better thought out arcs and you could have a winner.

As much as I agree with the common consensus that the series went to shit after act I concluded, I don't think the author is necessarily a hack, he's just a rank amateur who experienced runaway success and got in over his head. Given that this was, as far as I can tell, the first professional work he ever did, I'd wait and see where his writing skill is after he's branched out a bit and gotten a bit more experience writing stories, doing worldbuilding, and developing characters in other works. It could be that he truly is a hack and never lets go of his ego enough to improve, but if he does I think he has potential as a writer. I imagine he'll be at least initially able to find a reasonable amount of work given the sheer amount of money his franchise made, which will give him all the opportunity he needs if he plays his cards right.

Time will tell.

It really blows because Eren was actually a compelling and badass character for a while, but then Isayama turns him into a simp and a pussy.

Really weird too because I’ve always seen Eren and Mikasas relationship as a brother and sister type of bond, not a romantic one. Guess Isayama had to appeal to “those” people though.

Mikasa had a couple moments that seemed a bit shippy to me, if one-sided. That sort of thing would only come to fruition once Eren had gotten older in any case, and we've all seen what he turned into.

I'm certain that Isayama originally intended for their relationship to be platonic, at least on Eren's side. Mikasa's feelings were blatant from the start, but Eren suddenly becoming a simp for her at the end and throwing a tantrum that he doesn't want her to love anyone else came out of fucking nowhere.

Not only that..didn't they semi "Face" Turn Neegan in that he is part of the "Good guy" squad while basically not actually repenting for the things he did?

I blame the editors or Isayama watching too much Game of Thrones and wanting a romance.

This is the first time I've heard of this, and if they actually did, the show deserves to be cancelled even more.

From his TV tropes page (I know, they are horrible lolcows but they are the fastest place to find this sort of shit)

A year and a half later, Negan is still behind bars in Alexandria, but vows that he will escape someday. Not too long after, Maggie finally arrives to kill him, only for Negan to break down and admits he wants to die. Realizing he is much worse off this way, Maggie spares him. Six years later, Negan has become friends with the now nine-year-old Judith Grimes, and begins asking Michonne if she could learn to trust him, after he saves Judith's life during a snowstorm. As a result, Negan is allowed more freedom, but as the threat of the Whisperers looms in the aftermath of a tragic loss, paranoid Alexandrians take their fear out on him. Carol orders him to infiltrate the Whisperers and assassinate Alpha, a task he succeeds in and is rewarded for with a tentative place in the group. However, this becomes complicated when Maggie returns, and is none too pleased to see him a free man, having not borne witness to his change of heart.

At least the comics did more to characterize him. Not saying it's perfect, but in the case of comic Negan, he did these things in an attempt to control others because that's the kind of philosophy he thought worked best in such a crappy world. However, unlike the show, he genuinely feels remorse about his actions. When he tries to repent by helping them out, the group unsurprisingly doesn't wholly accept him, but only cold tolerance at best.

Also isn't bad that we veered off from AoT at this point?
