I don't have an issue with people REEEing over Mikasa, but if the ED is already triggering them, then oh boy are they not at all ready for what's to come.

I tried so hard, and got so farThe OP song paired with 3edgy5me Eren screaming at someone gives me 2007 Linkin Park x Naruto AMVs vibes.
I never liked AoT but earlier OPs were fire and I listened to them anyway.
Negan didn't tank the ratings, it was the one-two punch of losing Carl and Rick. But especially Carl since the last fourth of the series hinges on Carl and his growth into adulthood.Basically, yes. What happed with TWD is that they kept on relying on the same stupid "teh humanz r teh real monsterz" shit, and it got really old really fast. It was no longer a zombie show, but rather about Rick's boring, braindead, edgy group vs the most stupidly over-the-top evil, edgy people imaginable. The zombies took a backseat when they weren't being used a convenient way to kill people.
Couple that with them just killing off characters for the sake of shock value, characters just being mind-blowingly retarded (million walker march anyone?), the world-building just starting to completely fall apart, and the nonstop constant screen-hogging of Negan, and the show's absolute refusal to get rid of him despite the fact views were tanking because of him, and it's easy to see why no one watches this shit anymore.
And yet, it's still somehow going.
The Negan/Daryl stuff wasn't that bad but a plot necessity required because Daryl doesn't exist in the comics and is so overpowered that he could have ended the Savior War overnight if the character had not been neutralized.Slightly late, but he was super popular in the comics, but the TWD tv series has a much different story and a much different fanbase. The most character in the tv show is Daryl, and he doesn't exist in the comics. If it helps, think of Daryl as the Levi of TWD only he's not nearly as dickish, is actually a really nice guy, and the franchise won't (or previously wouldn't. I dunno about now) instantly collapse if he dies.
I can't quite remember who said it, and I'm paraphrasing here but someone in the production team basically said that fans would hate Negan but wouldn't want him to die because he's that good of a character/that entertaining.
They were wrong.
Negan really fucks up Daryl. He tortures him, makes him eat canned dog food sandwiches, and sleep deprives him by blasting the same song over, and over again all while he's been shot, and lying a fucking disgusting, tiny-ass cell. This goes on for a while, and it really pissed off the tv show fanbase.
This along with all the other shit he's done is only made worse by the fact that tv!Negan is not funny. He's just not. At best he's annoying, and at worst, he's downright insufferable. It's not his actor's fault. He's obviously doing the best he can. It's just material he has to work with and all the atrocious shit his character has to do just makes it extremely hard for the average viewer to like him.
This isn't even to mention he's really overstayed his welcome. Most TWD villains usually go after a season or two. Negan's been around for five.
Tl;dr: Unfunny murderous lunatic kills off a bunch of fan favorites, brutally tortures the Levi of the show, does a fuckton of other heinous shit, and just fucking refuses to go away.
I could see discussion about the franchise continuing if it didn't go so black vs white near the end, or if it ended in such a way that the fate of the world was left vague, but you got the Avengers storyline at the end where all the heroes team up to defeat Eren/Thanos/Hitler, Eren is just portrayed to a tilted teen angry he couldn't get some asian pussy, and with the additional pages Isayama tacked unto the end its clear that he wants the whole thing buried and gone, bombs fall everyone dies
He torched the entire thing and left

I agree that humans can make for great enemies, but I just don't think it was necessary to shift sway from Titans as primary threats. For zombies or other well-worn ideas, sure, but this was a unique enough concept to stand on its own. It obviously blended giants, zombies, and Gundam so it's not wholly unique, but nothing is.I think the shift to humans as villains wasn't bad in itself, there's a lot of good post-apocalyptic stuff where humans make for great enemies (you can do a lot more with them than with faceless monsters), Jericho was an example of this imo. But I think my main problem is that I don't have a lot of confidence in Isayama's ability to wrap it up properly, which is partially why I don't feel very compelled to keep going until it all ends.
I’d say the issue was because it tried to be more than “these people are behind the Titans”.View attachment 2877642

Human enemies are always the same, but with a different spin on why exactly they're the enemy. That can be fun, but the Titans had a lot more mystery to them than regular zombies or human enemies ever could, with their strange anatomy, expressions, and behaviors. I just think the ball was dropped a bit with that.
Edit: I just realized how old that comment is lmao
I think people being behind them is bad enough. I'd prefer almost anything else to that because it inevitably shifts to human enemies. Being an aberration of nature, or some kind of divine punishment, even alien shit, basically anything else would lead to more interesting outcomes imo.I’d say the issue was because it tried to be more than “these people are behind the Titans”.
Like the issue of titans being explained is bad but it can work since even the worst twists out there can be executed well. Attack on Titan's issue is that it shifted the story to be about one of the most retarded geopolitical systems in fiction and made everyone retarded just so the plot can function (i.e. Every country buying propaganda from a very hated empire, no one ever looking into what the fuck Eren was doing despite him being their trump card, and the entire world being run by cartoonishly racist brain parasites)I’d say the issue was because it tried to be more than “these people are behind the Titans”.
The sheer hatred they have for Mikasa is both hilarious and pathetic, especially considering all their complaints towards her also apply to Historia in a way, and for the fact that you just know these people wouldn't be nearly so triggered by her if she was actually for Eren's plan and wasn't seen as a threat to Erehisu shippers.Though with one episode, already people are triggered by the mere existence of Mikasa

Honestly Mikasa is a meh character and she is sorta fine, honestly the hate from her from Erenfags and how she is the least sufferable of the main trio makes me like her more. The sheer hatred they have for Mikasa is both hilarious and pathetic, especially considering all their complaints towards her also apply to Historia in a way, and for the fact that you just know these people wouldn't be nearly so triggered by her if she was actually for Eren's plan and wasn't seen as a threat to Erehisu shippers.
I'm not even trying to whiteknight for Mikasa here. I think she's a character who started out really promising, but then just turned into a complete joke by the end. I'm just saying the sheer amount hate she gets, why she gets it, and just from who she exactly gets it from really makes ya think.
Because she's not an aryan waifu and Eren called her a slave once. Why do they hate Mikasa so damn much?
Probably. Hell, those guys completely neglected to see her character development. To play devil's advocate for a moment, Mikasa is absolutely a one-note character who was obsessed with Eren from start to finish, but the butthurt is pretty lulzy. A bunch of them are probably Erenfags seething over the fact that she both opposed his plan and ended up killing him.
Eren died as he lived: stuck as a virgin with rage wanting a cute girl his age.I think this all stems from shipper rage. These Erenfags need to accept that he he didn't get with either girl, get over it, and get on with their lives. Mikasa Kirschtein and Historia Sneed-Reiss sure did.
