Mrmattyplays didnt like it... It begins
Looks like the game is twice as long as OW, so that's a plus I guess. Outer Worlds was unforgivably short, it only lasts 60 hours if you complete every quest in game plus all DLCs.
The game was apparently an online GAAS multiplayer experience before being reworked for a single player RPG, so not that different from Veilguard. Matty is also comparing it to Starfield in terms of "quality and replayability", not a good sign lmfao. Companions look shallow, probably half of them are gay. I will use them as faceless party members without doing their quests, I guess. They introduced swimming, which was missing in OW, I also saw climbing and parkour as well. They finally got the open world in this engine right since there is several open world biomes, not just one in OW with Monarch(which was uninteresting and ugly as sin, one of the worst open worlds in all of RPGs). From gameplay perspective it looks like it will satisfy my itch, and I can't really really ask more than that from a game I will never pay for anyways.
The game is still doing the fake modern illusion of choice, ie you can be the asshole without the companions leaving you, the game pulls it's punches and doesn't have much consequences for you being "evil" in a way of NPCs turning hostile or failing the quests. Similar deal to OW, however unlike there it's hard to play a renegade in Avowed. In fact, the game doesn't seem to give any rewards for evil choices, I expect some finger wagging from NPCs for not doing what the devs wanted.
So, you know how Outer Worlds didn't have long hair in character customization since the devs claimed they couldn't get the hair physics figured out? Yeah, I can see that in Matty's footage lmfao. What is going on in Obsidian? We figured this tech out YEARS ago.
