Avowed - Obsidian's new game, like Pillars of Eternity meets Elder Scrolls

I also find it hilarious how fast the grifters switched to defending a game like its their lifeblood (KCD2) to calling this game out of its issues.
Asmongold is a great example. He was talking about how it was going to get like 40k+ on release day.
Now he's just dumbfounded.

It looks okay but feels dated as fuck. The magic skill tree looks sick. Dialogue is pure ass. No way I stick with this.
Dated as fuck? Its not doing stuff we had in games from 2006 it just looks lazy.

God I need a fuck clip or screenshot of that.

Look at that plateau GOOD GOD.

I started a new playthru of New Vegas recently. I can say that the dialogue feels nothing like this, so I can only assume all the good writers left the company a long time ago. I would love to know when exactly this happened, I don't remember dialogue being this bad in Tyranny/Pillars of Eternity 1 but somewhere along the line, by the time of Outer Worlds/Pillars of Eternity 2 things clearly changed for the worse.
Brian Fargo went back to InExile, Tim Cain left to found Troika, they falsely Me Too'ed Chris Avellone and witch hunted him out of the company, Trump drove JE Sawyer insane (His bluesky isn't quite cow thread worthy like Vavra, but he lost his mind) and Feargus Urquhart is such a cuck he can't tell his staff to shut the fuck up and work. The well-loved Black Isle/Obsidian ceased to exist in totality after they made South Park Stick of Truth, now its a bunch of troons and that bald, Lenin beard having, suspender-wearing race traitor Matt "mega ass-faggot" Hanson.

No one can write dialogue anymore.

Original New Vegas line

"Hold up stranger the road's closed until we can dislodge some Legion snakes from Nelson."

Line if Obsidian wrote it today

"Hey there friendo the road's closed because we're in the midst of a fantuckulous clusterbuck of momentous propertions! We have to stay here until reinforcements can liberate us from this oopsie doopsie fucky wuckie poopsie doodle!"

All videogames sound like Borderlands 3 now and I fucking hate it.
That conversation was great if you were playing as a retard.

Retard mode was one of the best hidden features of the 2D Fallouts.

Played it for two hours after dinner tonight. Combat is mind-numbingly dull.
Wand?
Mash RT
Melee?
Mash RT
Bow?
Mash RT
Gun?
Mash RT.

None of the weapons have any weight to them. It's like your hitting your enemy with a Slim Jim sausage or firing a pea shooter. The only way to have any variety is if you use the spell casting on an off hand but it's the same tried and true mix of Ice, fire, poison and protection magic we've seen time and time again. I have played this game hundreds of times before and I'm a bit sick of it. I can't see this holding my attention for much longer and now I just want to jump back into KCD2 and finish that story up.

It's unbelievable just how dull, lifeless and boring this game is. Calling it slop is an insult to slop. I saw the video where it's compared to Oblivion and I don't know if any of you guys remember (mostly because only Eurofags would remember this particular game) but a year and a half after Oblivion came out a notorious Eurojank ripoff game called Two Worlds released, it was billed as the "Oblivion killer." When it came out it was completely panned and called the worst game ever by gamers but looking back at it it wasn't terrible, it was just painfully mid. The voice acting was funny because they got the devs to do all the VA work and the jank was charming in its own way.

If you're wondering where I'm going with this, there is this notorious aspect of Two Worlds where you can beat the game in like a minute and it doesn't involve any crazy out of bounds teleporting major glitches or whatever the fuck, just a massive sequence break. You see, the final boss is a character who appears in the starting town, if he's flagged as dead you beat the game, the way you beat him a minute into the game is to provoke him to attack you, then you run around the town and all the town guards and townsfolk aggro on him because he's committing a crime and kill him. Seeing that Disavowed footage where you're being chased around town by bandits and nobody in town even reacts to it in any way was just sad. I honestly can't see how there's still some coping fags saying that gaming isn't dying when they see something like this. Asset flips on Steam that were quickly slapped together in a week and have a bitcoin miner injected into it have worlds with more life than Disavowed in it.

Whelp, I’m downloading it via Game Pass right now. I will play it tomorrow to see just how mid it really is.

I think Slop is becoming overused and wrongly applied these days.

I was randomly thinking about that game the other day despite not knowing the name of it. I’ve seen the clip of him chasing you around and the whole town descending on him. Then once he dies it goes right to the end cutscene in a super disjointed and completely out of place yet hilarious way.
Disavowed
Low hanging fruit with that name. Just call it Avowed, it prolly doesn’t deserve a clever insult nickname let alone an un-clever one like that.
T-toddslop?
I’d pay to watch Todd’s reaction to Warhorse dealing with (truthful) Pedophilia accusations and Obsidian being exposed for the frauds they’ve been for 20 years.
I wouldn’t pay much, but I’d pay.

Man, I don't think I've been able to get into an Obsidian game since Alpha Protocol/Fallout New Vegas (always felt that the games post those lacked soul, that little thing that gets you motivated to keep going.), but this is still pretty depressing to see. If they don't manage any higher numbers (Currently sitting at around 17k), I don't think they'll be around as a company for much longer.

That said, I don't know what the numbers look like on Xbawks.

How could you possibly see the brown women in the screenshots and not immediately know it would be rubbish? How many more games have to be released like Concord or Saints Row or Veilguard or SW Outlaws or Forspoken before you're finally convinced the correlation is causation?
Brown people in games aren't woke, the anti-SJW crowd told me this when we talked about Kingdom Come 2.

There needs to be a law where anytime you add a brown person in your game,
you must show your entire Dev team, even the jannies.

lets see those hands boy.
give me names
I don't even need to look, I already know what they would look like

Most devs in Warhorse are white, or at least "white" like (((Vavra))) so their hands don't matter. It's the niggercattle mindset and the leftist rot within their brains that creates dogshit like this.

so their hands don't matter
Im so advanced in my racism that hand pics is all I need to already know, what I already know.
Years of witnessing NiggerCattle behavior made me gain forbidden divine knowledge.

I know the bone structure proportions and skin wrinkle architectural patterns of jewish hands
you can't hide from me.

Downloaded this on goy pass last night to give it a shot and form my own opinion.
Went in expecting it to be total dogshit.
Played for a few hours and these are the stand outs:

  • Dialogue is really bad. I read better in my college creative writing class. It's like Oneyplays doing a cringe bit, but it isn't a bit and the characters are serious
  • Combat is pretty ok. The dash mechanic makes the shield useless, so I just run a sword in one hand and a grimoire in the other. Pretty fun spell slinging and sword slashing. I will echo what other people have said: The combat is missing "weight" to it, but is infinitely more engaging than something like Skyrim
  • For the love of all that is Holy, turn off at least 50% of the HUD. IDK why a melee focused game thinks it needs hit markers, but you can turn that shit off along with the rest of the HUD. I would recommend minimal HUD for maximum enjoyment
  • Graphics are GOOD, BUT the DLSS or whatever fake frame bullshit they are pulling have that gross half see thru half grainy effect on everything. All of the bushes look like a total fucking mess and everything looks like it was rendered out of mud unless you get close to it and DON'T MOVE. If anyone knows how to make this graphical nightmare stop, let me know.
  • The game feels unpolished. Every aspect of this game SCREAMS that it needed more time in the oven. I think pushing the development time further would not have helped this game, so they pretty much just had to ship it as is.
  • This is a focused experience. There are a lot of things missing from the typical RPG experience (guards, stealing, lockpicking, non-combat skill trees) but honestly its for the better. They didn't waste time on mechanics that were outside of scope and I think that's pretty neat. They only made the game they needed to make and stopped there. I'd much rather the NPC's stay in one place than scope creep turn the game into something else entirely.
So far, its been a pretty enjoyable experience. I wouldn't recommend PAYING for this game, but if you have it on goy pass, I think its worth a shot. There's been nothing so far that has been aggressively woke to the point where I want to turn the game off.

The first side quest taught me that I should never do the side quests. It's about a woman elf who lets these monsters into her home because she's losing her mind and thinks that one of the lizard creatures is her spiritual twin. Silly concept, but they don't do ANYTHING with it. Just go to her house, kill lizards, see a mural of her holding hands with the lizards. When you ask her about it she says that one of them is her "soul twin" and that's it. You ask her what she's gonna do about it and she says "lol idk"
And that's the end of the quest. A good quest would have given you a choice to encourage her to seek out her soul twin or tell her to forget the whole thing, with consequences playing out based on your choice. Avowed, however, just says: "yea that's the quest. Pretty wacky, huh?" which is a massive missed opportunity and goes back to what I was saying about the game being unfinished.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the game so far. I went in expecting to absolutely hate it and shit all over it for being woke slop. While I did find cringe dialogue, I also found a half decent game as well. Definitely glad I went in to experience the game for myself and form my own opinion. This game feels like a very focused, story driven game, which is exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for. No bullshit branching paths, no garbage open world with nothing in it. Just focused single player story. Hard to find these days. I will playing more later tonight and will report back with my findings.

The lizard in question, her soul twin, is literally on the next little "island", right behind the same house. You can attempt to communicate with it and later talk to the woman about it. While the story might be dogshit, it's you being a midwit that made that quest look bad. And both the lizard and the woman get a cameo later in the game, depending on what you've done.
