Baked Alaska / Tim Treadstone / Tim Gionet / Anthime Joseph Gionet - White rapper, alt-right "activist", ex-Buzzfeed contributor; got arrested at the March for Trump, and a federal snitch

There are many cultural, political, and economic reasons for America's broken justice system, but none are fitting excuses for why it isn't working. The United States has more incarcerated citizens per capita than every other country on the planet, yet boasts one of the highest recidivism rates in the world. People go into prison as petty criminals only to come out as hardened criminals, and you have a private prison industry which incentivizes ever greater levels of mass incarceration (the US prison population has grown by 500% over the last 40 years), often for non-violent crimes, or as a consequence of dodgy plea deals.

The truth is that guys like Baked Alaska aren't going to be rehabilitated by the American prison system. He's a mentally ill man who resorts to unhinged and reckless behavior because he craves the attention it brings him, and he evidently lacks the ability to properly appreciate the consequences his behavior has for himself and others. In a sane world, he'd be involuntarily committed and sent to a psychiatric hospital for treatment; not sent to prison where he'll likely come out even worse.
Counterpoint: The US penal system is full of awful garbage people, overlapping with simply broken and/or insane ones, and large scale rehabilitation is a utopian fantasy. Something like 30% of convicts don't re-offend (on average within X years or whatever the criteria was for the studies) and that doesn't seem like such a bad number if you know what the block looks like from the inside. Being locked in a cage surrounded by shitbags is actually pretty good motivation to reform, in fact I'd argue that it's more effective for those who are smarter and more capable of introspection. It's rehabbing the 89IQ morons that was always gonna be a crap shoot.

That said I don't think baked is gonna get enough time on this one to get the message. County daycare where by the time the anger and shock wears off and the blues set in, it's already time to grab your street clothes. Let him sit out a full year and he'd probably keep his big nose clean for quite a while, especially if they pinged him into the hole for a week (at least you get a bible, very trad).

He won't get fucked in the ass, but if he's too stupid to keep his mouth shut (and it's Baked, for Christ's sake...), he can still get the shit beaten out of him. He's in an even worse position if the running gag about him being a snitch are true and he goes blabbering the the CO about any time someone threatens him. Even those "minimum security" places aren't really any place to be a blithering idiot, he mouths off to the wrong guy -even over the most trivial of nonsense- he could still end up in a world of hurt.
The most likely scenario for Baked having a bad time in prison is him having one of his "Karen Alaska moments" and ending up on the bad side of the rest of the inmates.

As fucking obvious as it seems to not behave like a tattle tail child in prison I could totally see Baked being all, "Guards, excuse me this guy just pushed me, yes this guy right here! 🤡 👉👉" Then later getting his ass kicked for it.

the problem with the 'rehabilitation' approach is that a lot of these dudes never had a life outside of crime to begin with.
mom a welfare queen, dad not in the picture, brothers and cousins and friends all in the game too - how do you "reform" someone who comes from a place like that? can't go back to a place you've never been to in the first place.

Yeah, let them live a life of murder, theft, and rape in peace.
Who teaches them these things are wrong? They aren't doctors, ffs.

Makes sense. Those guys are doing this all for the donation message chats. Everything they do on stream is for the money. If they stop getting money, they will stop doing this.

Of course there is zero chance we are going to convince the majority of people doling out the cash to stop funding them.

OK. For all of the EuroFags here who keep on going on about how much better the European prison system is and how it leads to lower recidivism rates, you are all absolutely full of shit.

Unless you come from Norway or Iceland, your rates are either equal or appallingly worse. Yes, even you Sweden are full of it.

Finland 2 years Reconviction 36% vs 36% US (Same)

France 5 years Reconviction 59% vs 55% US (US better by 4%)

Here is my source:

So Norway can talk. Iceland I suspect has a lower rate since it is a small homogeneous island population and word gets around. Odds are you would be robbing your cousin.

If you want to disagree, bring some facts to the table. Near as I can tell, ya'll are just repeating lies that have been fed into you by the main stream press over and over again and you just believe them like good little sheep.

You can draw another conclusion though even just accepting these numbers, that the much longer sentences in the US don't seem to help the recidivism rate much vs. Finland. Of course that's an overly simple analysis as there's tons of factors in play, but it shows that you can achieve similar results with less punishment.

Also clearly the UK is doing something wrong, but shit like Huddersfield has already made that abundantly clear.

The US has niggers. They operate on a different plane of existence than humans and comparing US prison sentences to European sentences without adjusting for niggers will never work.

Guys if you don't start donating to the sleep streams Baked is going to stop doing them :story:

Longer sentences do keep these people who are just going to go right back to committing crimes off the street longer, though, at the cost of punishing those who aren't longer without any positive result. I'm okay with that result for violent crimes, but don't really think it works for anything else.

So throw the book at Baked, basically. I'd say he is actually worse than some guy with poor impulse control who threw a punch, because he did it just for the clicks and money.

Yes, also, if it's a jail in a county that has any areas with bad ghettos, bad gangs, or nigs, dumb, pointless fights and getting tested are going be harder to avoid, as the county jails will have more of the younger, dumber and wilder gang members and nigs that are doing their first bid.
