One can only hope that during this time Barb is teaching Chris about all the bills that need to be taken care of.
She seems like the nagging type so at least she must whine to Chris about how hard it is for her to take care of everything.
The only thing Barb is teaching Chris right now is that the rest of the world hates them and they need to stick together forever, so he can't go make new friends. She has no concern for what happens to him after her death.
You really think that? I guess that seems right, but is she really that insane?

She's the one with the "fail" genes. Look at the rest of the Chandler's and Chris. Though, not only that, I think she's getting a bit senile. Maybe.

Yeah, even though Cole's a functional adult, I think that he's mental in his own special ways. No one breaks out of 14BC unscarred.

Except maybe the cats. They're still cats

Barb must have some serious issues.
I mean she approved of Chris goint to Walmart to measure his boob size and buying some bras...that is just weird.

Heh, well, maybe she thought he could use some support?

I'm actually more interested in when Barb ends up in a nursing home than when she dies. If she's infirm enough that Chris does all her errands, she'll most likely decline in health soon enough that she'll need more help than what Chris can give her. People can last for a long time in a nursing home, though. And of course there's always in home care.

I dunno, I've seen episodes of Hoarders where the hoarders had animals... they didn't fare too well (some of them even disappeared and died).

Well mentally they're fine. I have hope that they arn't dead and if fact just left the property if they found somewhere better to live (hopefully with another family instead of outside) in the house tour it's shown they have access to the outdoors.
If cats arn't happy with their current life they'll leave and never come back, and if I were a cat trapped in a hoard with a manchild (who they've been shown to hate) a chick who barely pays attention to me let alone feed me and no access to a litter box I'd get the fuck out of there.

Imagine being the nurse that has to go to the Chandler household and take care of her. Having to climb over mountains of junk just to deliver her afternoon meds or something.

Here in Boulder, that's not too bad of a problem (there are a lot of people that climb the mountains here) but in Rednecksville, Virginia - more than likely she'll have more than one home care nurse that tells their supervisor that they didn't sign up for this shit. Cat crap on the floor, a family of two that have had no interest in cleaning up their house at all... I could go on.

14 Branchland Court is the epitome of squalor and it's a shame that the Health Department doesn't give a damn.

I'm not sure Barb would agree to go to a nursing home by her own will, and if Chris tries to get her in one she'll pull the ol' "I'm gonna kill myself" routine she's been known to do.
If she did get home care and nurse who opened the door to that house would immediently call adult protective services and either attempt to have her and Chris removed or force them to clean that shit up so she's not gonna let one of those in either.
Which is a shame because either option would improve both Chris and Barb's life.

They would probably complain about not being able to afford nurses or something.

I wonder, has anyone here actually tried to call adult protective services about Barb and Chris? These are two people who obviously cannot take care of themselves and once Barb is gone, Chris is even more fucked than he would be if she were alive.

If you look on the other thread about the future, some speculate that Chris's life will actually improve once Barb is gone. That's how toxic she is.

Yes, people have. And legally, they're considered adults and can (and do) choose to live in their trash heap.

So they gave the same excuse that the Greene County Health Department gave not to do a damned thing. Fabulous.

I don't know how it is in Virginia, but in West Virginia, I know there's ways to get a nurse to come in and help without having to pay out of pocket. Not being able to afford one isn't an excuse. It's really sad, actually. There's help available to them, but Barb won't do anything. She's holed up with Chris in a shitshack. It's a literal nest of trash and feces. I actually feel really bad for Chris.

Huh, I've never heard of that. I think in Maryland, that sort of thing would just be covered under health insurance.
