I was thinking about starting a thread called "Was Bob a good person?" in early September when Holdek started the Bob memorial page because I thought discussion would be more appropriate there than on a memorial thread. Of course I didn't do it, I thought it was a bit redundant.
Bob gets more sympathy because he did something with his life and at least tried to turn Chris into a functioning adult, although he failed at it or gave up. Sure, Bob wasn't a war hero or an engineer who revolutionized the plastics industry like Bill Riley said, but at least Bob aspired to be something in life. There's no doubt that Chris would have done well to imitate Bob's positive traits, when OPL got the worst traits of both of his parents. Bob, however, was flawed and you can see these flaws in OPL, such as threatening legal action over trifles.
