  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Brave will soon force people to use custodial wallets in order to receive rewards, due to some combination of regulatory requirements, and anti-fraud (allegedly Indians setting up BAT bot farms and donating to "creators" with fake US IDs). Pretty lame, and this will probably impact BAT donations to the site going forward. I for one am not going to send some questionable crypto exchange all my ID and a timestamped photo just to send @Null $3.50 a month.

If you see donations drop in the near future, this is probably why.

That will be tough when Gemini closes. They already fucked over everyone in their Earn program blaming it on the FTX contagion. Even if the main exchange manages to stay afloat, I'm definitely not giving anyone named Winklevoss my personal info.

That's an issue with Gemini KYC and only supporting part of the US.

You will have to move to uphold, which I think supports crotatia

Croatia isn't a country that Uphold supports. Someone actually asked this question on the Brave forum about 14 hours ago and apparently the country is going to be added "Soon™."

This was asked and answered a little while ago. The Rewards team has said that Croatia is on the list of the next countries to be added. They intended to have it added last week, but there’s been some delays. Supposedly issue is on Uphold’s side of things, but details not mentioned. Should hopefully be added soon. I’m hoping to hear more details sometime tomorrow.

So I guess this is really the end? I'm not willing to "verify" my identity just to earn 2-3 dollars worth of BAT a month. Such a shame - it was a nice way to chip in a little bit. I've been sending the BAT rewards to madattheinternet.com for probably around two years now. *sigh*

Anyone who's been holding onto BAT without verifying their identity will have to do something about it, btw. Either verify yourself or donate your BAT, because it's going to eventually expire for unverified users otherwise. Possibly as soon as April.

I just realized my work computer has BAT rewards set to the wrong region, so I cannot verify even if I want to with Uphold (reward region must match your ID).

I already kicked out my phone rewards to kiwifarms. Guess I will do my work one to MATI as was trying to figure out a good place and wasn't prepared to visit the farms on a monitored network. Zscaler would probably go haywire
 
Accidentally sent Dominos 1 BAT, they need to double check when you accidentally hit the auto contribute button

Kiwifarms.net is not verified right now and Brave claims any tips I send will remain pending. I can see the custom title though. Is it safe to send BATs?

Donating to MATI is just a little more discreet, and the BAT still goes to Null.
I was also worried that maybe someday Brave would fold to outside pressure and seize/freeze/ban Null's Brave Creators account. My understanding is that Null keeps all his MATI funds totally separate from his Kiwifarms-related stuff, so donations to MATI are less likely to be seized or whatever. This is all probably unnecessary or too paranoid, but oh well.

Unverified users will still be able to give ad revenue to "creators", they just can't store it in Brave as vBAT.

A share of the ad revenue will be earmarked for creators and distributed by Brave as part of the monthly payout to verified creators.

Does anyone have additional information on this? I searched around but couldn't find any. My reading of Brave's statement is that Brave will decide who gets the BAT and how much based on the creator sites that I visit. But since I visit the Farms using a private Tor window, I don't think my time on KF is recorded by Brave, so I don't think KF will get any of my BAT. And even if they did, any BAT I earn is going to be divided between all the sites I visit that are registered creators. Currently I give all my BAT to FK each month and it's only a few dollars. If it was divided between other sites, it would be pennies.

This is just my interpretation. Has Brave given any further specifics?

I guess that cuts me out of donating BAT. Uphold isn't legal in all 50 states and I'm in one of those states where they don't do business. I also noticed this while donating the remainder of my balance.

I'm just getting this from the link that was posted earlier. They're also removing the ability to "tip" websites for unverified users, I guess because it won't work anymore.

If you want to give more, connecting a custodial account will allow you to use BAT you’ve purchased elsewhere to support creators in the Brave Rewards ecosystem, and will also unlock the Tips feature.

If you have "auto-contribute" turned on, the websites Brave thinks you've visited and will automatically donate to are listed under brave://rewards, and you can remove the ones you don't want by clicking the trash can icon. However, visits through a Tor window don't seem to be recorded.

Tried linking my laptop browser to my Uphold account. Takes me to the Uphold login page, but after I put in my name & pw, the login button doesnt do anything. If I switch to incognito, the button works and i can login, but cant link the browser wallet from the incognito mode.
