I'm pretty sure they did, although I need to brush up on my early '90s Superman.Wasn't that what they did when Supes died back in the 90s?

They really did just throw like 4 separate DC Superman-focused comic events into one movie, didn't they?I'm pretty sure they did, although I need to brush up on my early '90s Superman.
Yeah, not to repeat myself like a fool, but it did kind of feel like binge watching a few episodes of a TV series rather than a movie. They really did just throw like 4 separate DC Superman-focused comic events into one movie, didn't they?
Now that I have seen this movie, I guess I'll offer my thoughts. Jesse Eisenberg was a horrible choice for Lex Luthor. Not only did the current look too young (isn't he like around Superman's age) but whatever Jesse was doing was like a teen's horrible impression of Heath Ledger's Joker. I guess since past works I've seen Jesse in, he's like Michael Cera (dull, boring, no emotion) so maybe he was trying to add something in to this role.
When Batman is in Luthor's cell, was Lex basically saying Darkseid was coming or just other major DC villains will be revealing themselves. I know WB/DC wants to set up Darkseid for the Justice League movie (since Avengers: Infinity Wars will have Thanos) so chances they're work on that build with the Wonder Woman movie and any other DC Universe movie. Since the leak of Aquaman with the line, "Unite the Seven," it has been speculated the founding team would consist of seven members. From this movie, we have Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg. Who will be the final member? Will it be another alien like Martian Manhunter or Hawkgirl to tie Darkseid towards them? Will it be one of the Green Lanterns (would they try Hal Jordan again after the GL movie with Ryan Reynolds)?

They are planning on making a Green Lantern Corp movie in 2020, so they might try something to make their new pick ready for a solo movie like they're doing to Cyborg. I think it would be cool to see Martian Manhunter, but that's my opinion.

Is there somewhere that can show exactly what the budget was spent on?So it looks like BvS hype train has run it's course and the second weekend's box office take dropped 68%.
Still, even though it made just 32% of what it made last weekend, it still grossed another 52 million, and estimates that it has made around $683 million in the last two weeks. If this downward trends continues however, considering the estimates that it has cost $800 million to make and market this movie, they may just only break even.
At the risk of sounding like a DC fanboy stirring things up, when have the MCU movies ever been "dark and edgy"? You could say The Incredible Hulk was given the direction Edward Norton wanted the character to go but it seems Marvel Studio heads want to distance that movie from the universe and treat it as the black sheep. The trailers for Iron Man 3 appeared to be going into the "dark and edgy" territory and even the first half of that movie looked that way but when the Mandarin was revealed, it pretty much unraveled everything. So much so, Marvel backtracked things with that short featuring the fake Mandarin. Once again, Avengers: Age of Ultron trailers initially showed the MCU dipping into serious route only to have the actual movie be completely different to what the trailers would have you believe. Captain America: The Winter Soldier could fall into the "dark and edgy" category mainly how government surveillance and security vs. freedom plays a part in it.copying Marvel and trying to outdo them on the dark and edgy
Seen this movie and I agree with the consensus that they are throwing waaaayyy too much shit into one movie. They would have been better off splitting this into multiple movies. Going into the background of how Superman became so distrusted and how Batman became fallen. They did try to hammer in how they have so much in common, but it felt forced with how they were jumping around from point a to point b to point c to point d. If they had focused from point a to point b and then filled in the rest with details and character development they could have had a more concise movie.
I'm not going to bother spoilering this, but considering how death is a revolving door I didn't feel anything when Superman died. Either it would have turned out he wasn't dead after all or he is gonna be brought back from the dead through the power of asspull. Death is never permanent when it comes to prominent characters. Instead of death they could have ended it with Superman disgraced and then have a sequel hook with Superman seeking to regain his honor and trust of the people.
With that said DC would be better off embracing a funner lighter side as opposed to copying what Marvel is doing. I'm not saying they should go the 1960's Batman goofy, but sometimes it is nice to see something on the lighter side. It is blatant they are trying to copy what Marvel is doing as opposed to doing their own thing. Dark and gritty does not always equal realistic, there is a darker side to life but at the same time there is hope and light. Not everyone needs to be made into a total asshole or have a dark past; there are people in real life with healthy relationships and state of mind. Furthermore, by copying Marvel and trying to outdo them on the dark and edgy, they run the risk of diving their franchise into "Ow the Edge" territory and making The Justice League be seen as just a clone of the Avengers.
With that said decent movie, just as long as you shut your brain off and don't think too much with what is going on. Watch with beer in hand. The first part was a major drag so you might want to just fast forward to when the fight scene starts when it comes out on DVD.
No, it happened in like a 2-second dream sequence so it was really just non-sequitur number 1,391.Did they ever explain how? Or was it a "just roll with it" thing.
