Battletech - Also known as Trannytech

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
I really wish there was a way to mix MW3e's character creation and MW Destiny's combat system. Lifepaths rock in 3e and the combat is much more roleplay friendly in Destiny.

Jerry could really shut the fuck up sometimes

I'm here for the lore (read up to Black Dragon chronologically. I need to start over and go all the way to current) and the vidya. I don't have the patience to tabletop.

Anyone else find the minis from CGL to be pretty shit? Them being molded in PVC makes all the details really soft. I'm considering ordering resin prints of some 'mechs I like but it's hard to be certain of the quality when doing that. Anyone have experience ordering those 3d printed 'mechs off ebay?

Most CGLs seem fine to me, but I have noticed some detail issues (I'm not smart enough to know more yet lol)

I have experience with some 3D Prints off Ebay. Omniforged so far has been the best group for price. Only like 2 of nearly 10 mechs had me like "Meh". The thing I've noticed 3D print (at least from them) doesn't get well is the cockpit windows, but even CGL can't always do that consistently.

What, no love for Sigma Lead from the MechWarrior 4: Vengeance intro? Dude went down like a boss, but he was still in a Vulture.
Not to mention his lance was made up entirely of Clan Mechs (Vulture, Shadow Cat and Cougar, the 4th is never seen). Totally normal for a Fed Suns milita on Kentares

It was the FedCom Civil War. I'm pretty sure after Tukayyid, the ComGuards had to start selling Clan salvage just to keep their own storage depots from overflowing.

Either that or ComStar was offering raffle tickets to anyone who signed up for broadband with them after 3053. First prize is a Daishi.

Reminds me of the entry for the Battle Magic mercenary unit: "The unit used to raid the Clan OZ to get Clan equipment but after Operation Bulldog, Serpent as well as the Falcon incursion it became safer and cheaper to pay the market price". Made for great intros though

And for all to enjoy

On a level of 1-10. If I go to a friendly but competitive tournament next weekend.. how WAAC should I go? There won't be areo assets so I'm thinking just bringing nothing but field guns and maybe a tag spotter or two.

HAHA TIME FOR BOOM!

How many infantry platoons can you conceivably bring?

Enough to fill the entire table?

Figured I'd ask here for advice. I'm playing a campaign and we're on the cusp of the Clan invasion and the GM is trying to figure out the best way to achieve good balance between well equipped IS forces vs Clans, going for BV does generally work but it does seem to be a bit of an issue when its high enough that we can just put all our heaviest hitters on the board and their individual BV will be equal to Clan heavies.

Our group generally plays more with tonnage than BV since we're all in it for the LARP more than winning, and anyone deemed to be cheesing too hard pays for the pizza. So for us, giving the Inner Sphere about 40% more tonnage and forcing the Clan player to stick to Zellbrigen (one-on-one duels, no melee, no indirect fire, etc) until the Inner Sphere player breaks the rule and a melee is declared tends to result in fairly balanced games.
