I don't understand where people get this idea that Troy Baker couldn't record his lines due to scheduling conflicts. In fact, he was open to reprising his role as Rhys in
Borderlands 3, but no one at Gearbox approached him with the role and instead just replaced him with Ray Chase. Not only are recording lines a relatively flexible profession, Matthew Mercer had replaced a number of Baker's roles as:
- Kanji Tatsumi in Persona 4
- Pain in Naruto: Shippuden
- Espio the Chameleon in the Sonic the Hedgehog series
- Tim Drake / Robin in the Batman: Arkham series (which is funny because Baker ended up voicing Jason Todd in Arkham Knight)
- Ishida in Sengoku Basara
- Valvatorez in the Disgaea series
Are they going to make the case that these were due to scheduling conflicts also?
