College Ramen/Pasta/Rice isn’t a meme, it’s a legitimate strategy and currency. Add anything you want in less then 5 minutes- cheapest and most healthy shit can be made on the fly.

Edit: to elaborate on currency me and neighbors will give each other stuff and barter for shit in case we fucked up and forgot to shop. It’s neat.

Whole foods sells three bean chili in a box for just over a dollar.

This has the same energy as saying “Non-Dairy Cream”.

Also, another cheap food- anything in an Indian store. They sell shit for cheap, are pretty polite, and it smells like herbs and spices when I walk in. They give you slabs of meat for insanely cheap, and y’all know that’s going with the ramen and rice.

Edit: and hey, free Jello when I walk in as a regular buyer is baller.

Buy a roast and cut it up before you bag and freeze it. Takes little prep and you have fairly quick meals that aren't full of Asian femboy hormones.

I didn't think Ramen noodles was all that healthy. A friend of mine ate nothing but that in college one semester and he gained 25 pounds.

He musta been eating the pre packaged stuff. I’m talking the noodles and broth separate, natural stuff. It’s real cheap, and all togethor, for a day’s worth, it’s like. 10 or less? Add some meat and vegetables like peppers and it’s ballin, just a little more expensive. And Italian pasta is somehow even cheaper then that.

And sure, the fast styrofoam version is cheaper, but for just for about half a dollar to a dollar I can get myself a better version I make fast.

Yep, you're exactly right. He used to eat the pre packaged stuff that came in the giant case, all wrapped in plastic. My mistake, that's what I think of when I hear "Ramen" but I imagine it comes in better arrangements than that prepackaged, cheap shit.

Making a good sandwich should only take the same amount of time nuking your Hot Pockets or whatever in the microwave, will taste much better and not be a sodium bomb like most frozen processed foods

Very hard to find but these are the absolute best "toss in the microwave and eat" food:

Hear me out. I discovered these many years ago sitting in the freezer in the lobby of a condo complex. Apparently an indian man lived there and would share these with anyone who went to the lobby because there were always extra boxes stuffed in there. I thought they looked really gross and tasteless at first...THIS WAS NOT THE CASE.

These little wonderful fuckers are not only cheap and extremely filling, if you can find them they will become a staple on your grocery list. They have the most difficult-to-replicate flavor I have ever found in some random quick and easy microwave food and you'd never see it coming. There is like a savory sourness to them, sort of like vinegar but not...and it is addictive. I don't use that word lightly. Taste one of these and you'll be a fan for life and get cravings for them every now and then. The texture is phenomenal as well and unlike anything else.

So what are they? From what I can tell they are like a rice cake but very dense almost like each grain of rice was cut into several pieces and molded into a very compact patty. They are really good with chutney and sometimes come with some chutney in little frozen packets the box! They come six in a box, two to a pack, and to make them you just toss a pack in the microwave for a few mins and they steam perfectly in the bag. And they are plain enough you can add stuff to them, just be careful that it matches the flavor profile already present because these have a very strong and distinct flavor on their own.

Definitely my favorite low effort high energy deceptively filling food of all time only hindered by its scarcity/rarity.

I've been really into pan-seared porkchops. Season with salt, pepper, and italian seasoning and sear for 2-3 min on each side, really really easy.

I was going to say ramen, but the good stuff with multiple packets of seasoning and oil and stuff is a bit fiddly. Possibly too much effort in prep required there.

Cold baked beans straight out the tin is my nomination for best zero effort food. It's cheap, it has nutritional value and it's not difficult to improve the taste by adding a bit of sauce. My usual goto is worcestershire sauce, but I don't mind a few drops of hot sauce in there sometimes too.
