Not impossible. Just excruciating. One of its attacks is an instant kill unless you take cover. Blinds you as well, literally. Enemies fly to you and below you I remember. AND you have to protect a tower from the boss. Then they returned to form by making the final boss of Gears 3 completely impossible if you were playing on co-op insane.
I've beaten Gears 3 on Insane co-op. A mix of Causal and Arcade. No difficulty exploit (your co-op partners could play on different difficulties than you on the same game, it'll still count), all random players. It's not easy.
You can thank this guy for making said achievements a tedious venture. On the subject of Gears, the achievements for it are ridiculous. Yes the Seriously ones have always been a massive grind, but they took it to a new level with 5. For example, you have:
- Deal 100,000,000 damage in Versus
- get 100,000 kills in versus
- 50,000 assists
- re-up 40 times
who the hell is going to dedicate hundreds, if not thousands of hours to that? Even on True Achievements there's only 208 people who've completed the game, and they likely all boosted it.
"I find it best to work with the experts as they know their areas of the game so well that they often have the best ideas or know how we can include something special without crazy amounts of work."
"It's very important that we create achievements that cater to all types of players, which is why some achievements might be perceived as easier to achieve than others, while others are more challenging for more experienced players." Data is also taken from achievements which "plays an important role in the entire development process."
Asking the player to do hundreds of thousands worth of damage, re-up 50 times, kill 100,000 players, complete all Escape waves on Master aren't "achievements," they're WORK. The average player doesn't have time to do any of it on a reasonable level. It's literally encouraging you to play the game religiously.
