Why do I find her obsession with the negress more annoying than almost anything else in this comic?

I don't know if it's because of how stupid they "will they/won't they" plot is, or how forced this relationship is and how they aren't allowed to be just friends because everyone must be "TOTES GAY." Looking through a few comics, yeah. I just don't see much chemistry between Lily and Ashley besides basic bitch yuri shit and Lily lacking the balls to just ask her out. And tagging this as "cute"? Really?
I actually sort of hope this is leading to some story arc instead of being a one off (but that's probably getting my expectations too high). On one hand, it could finally put an end to at least one "will they, won't they" pairing. On the other, I don't think it'd be very satisfying. Based on all her spergouts and general attitude, Lily just seems like an awful person to be in a relationship with.
Also, hold up. If she's punk guy's best friend, shouldn't she know that he's gay and there's no danger in him stealing her love interest? What the hell?
