Blue Archive - The south Korean Gacha game that almost died, is now being released on Steam this summer.

Been reading the story but apparently the girls can "die" if you destroy their halo thingy. But they can take mortar shells to the face and end up with only with a few scratches.

As far as I remember, there's 1(one) girl that is dead 99,9% confirmed(ignoring whatever happened in the terror timeline) And probably the ancient girls from the sisterhood that appear as blue ghosts now, from centuries ago
The funny part about destroying their halo is that you require a special weapon to be able to do so
Extremely Heavy damage might be able to do something too, they don't really explore the realm of "how to kill a kivotos girl" that much for obvious reasons
In other news, I think I'll explode if I don't manage to get hanako summer this time, the world of pvp is ruthless with her and shiroko terror in almost every player's squad

Yeah, Yume is the only girl to canonically have died so far, and it's due to dehydration. As for the ancient sisterhood, those are spirits bound by oath to protect Trinity. Those girls probably died of old age.

I don't really care that much about PvP because it's too RNG but sometimes you wonder if the winner gets decided by diceroll, I mean just a week ago I got rekt by some dude 10 levels below me who had Suzumi on his team... and she apparently did the 2nd most damage despite me fielding no red armor students. What the fuck does that guy know that we don't?

After finishing the first chapter, I get why it's so popular. It brings the feeling of Gurlz Und Panzer with fun character interactions without veerying into degeneracy, while also not being too much edgy/soft to make the player not care.
Comedy and Tragedy in harmonious balance. It's a real shining quality of BA. Eden Treaty in particular was peak

As Big Brown Schlub said, pretty much everything you do will reward you with Pyros one way or another. During my peak saving period I had roughly 80K just waiting for the specific characters I wanted. Volume F will shower you with Pyros, so for now, I'd suggest just keep playing and saving.

Fun Fact: For day 1 players, Nexon has so far given for free 182,345 Pyroxenes (1520 pulls) for random arbitrary milestones and maintenance.
Blue Archive is a billion dollar cash cow for Nexon. And Nexon have been mostly hands off on MX Studio. Which was found out during the Project KV shitshow. Including Isakusan was making more money than the CEO of Nexon.

It ain't just Blue Archive they got shit like MapleStory and such and I believe that still makes the majority of the cash for Nexon

WHAT THE FUCK AM I READING!?

WHAT THE FUCK AM I READING!?
When I read that part, I thought Aris was just confused by the term "motherfucker" but yes - apparently the GDD's first game (Tales Saga Chronicle) had incest in it. Some things to note:
-Momoi is listed as "scenario writer" for the GDD (unless that particular story element was already present in the alpha, which was Yuzu's solo project.)
-When they see Aris struggle with the game they made, Momoi and Midori demonstrate more retrospection than the average modern AAA developer.

I'm four years late to the lore theory, but Chapter 2 is interesting in the world-building sense.
Aris, a robot seemingly designed for combat, is found inactive in ruins. She has a halo and is able to otherwise function as a "Student." However, this is implicitly confirmed to be out of the ordinary for the Kivotos. Both Momoi and Yuuka directly state that they used to be young children that grew up:
-Momoi, in the context of teaching Aris to talk more like a normal student: "I think I learned to speak just by listening to other people and watching TV" which is descriptive to human language development.
-Yuuka says she "loved playing games as a kid."
(You could go full tinfoil and propose that those are false memories or something. Even the good 'ol "turns out the whole thing takes place in Purgatory" wouldn't be debunked as they'd simply have memories from the "real" world before they died.)

(It's Momover.)

Her EX skill literally duplicates another student's EX skill she is a must have support unit
I went all in for her but no dice after 100 rolls (though at least I got Hoshino (armed) and Ui. Does the story give gems, or am I shit out of luck unless I spend money?

Yeah I haven't played in a while and plan to return just to get Rio but each story level gives you 60 pyroxenes (40 for completing, and 20 via achievement) so you can grab some quick pyroxenes by clearing the story. Tho there is a roadblock along the way in chapter 3 Eden treaty, there is a battle where you need to use your own students, need to be atleast lv40-60 for a comfy clear

You can also keep clearing missions, just keep clearing them to level up your cafe and get the pyroxenes, you should only really consider stopping if you struggle to get 1 or 2 stars.

The BA lore talk is interesting because when you think about it we are told very little about how even the most basic things work in Kivotos, we can infer some things, like halos not just giving students super strength, agility and durability but also some supernatural powers or quirks, like Asuna's impossible luck or Seia's clairvoyance, or even something mundane like Akari's bottomless stomach. With quirks some examples I could think of is Izumi's insistence on eating the most ungodly food combinations possible or Tsubaki being able to fall asleep literally anywhere, anytime. Even some more mundane quirks could be explained by it being influenced by their halos, like the ASS club being obsessed with eating sweets or Hifumi's complete obsession with Peroro. Then there's ones who seem to be supernaturally cursed, like Juri whose food always ends up being a toxic monstrosity despite in one relationship story cooking alongside sensei and doing everything he did at the same time in the same way using the same ingredients and utensils.

It's kinda funny, I've got almost every character I've wanted, yet the Rat not even once. The only ones I'm still missing to become a bona fide metaslave is D. Hina and S. Hoshino.
I swear there's one launch student who is soul-bonded to every account, it's just that the ones whose soul-bonded student is Saya or Izumi are loudest for obvious reasons. For me, I swear it's Haruna, I don't get her every time I do 200 pulls but I get her often enough to think it's not just coincidence, especially given she was the first student I 5 starred. My friend who started playing almost a year ago keeps getting Mashiro every single time he does 200 pulls, he streamed himself doing 400 Fest pulls yesterday and he got Mashiro four times. He already has her weapon upgraded to 2 stars without buying her elephs even once in the shop.

I think that the general ambiguity and lack of hard lines works to their advantage. It gives the devs the freedom to introduce concepts and ideas that wouldn't be possible if there were hard lines in place. It also allows for theorycrafting and for the community to come up with their own speculations and explanations for things. This entire thing feels like when TES 3 Morrowind was first came out and nobody had any idea of who Lorkhan was and why his heart was so important, and we only got the explanation piece by piece decades later.
