It really makes me wonder if the twitter structure is ever a really profitable one. Everyone's betting big on Bluesky right now, but Bluesky is attracting a very expensive crowd of former Twitter users: retards that like to report shit constantly. Reports require human judgement to solve, which means they're labour-intensive. Musk had to cut labour HARD when he picked up Twtter, and he made choices specifically designed to reduce the amount of moderator work required at that platform. Bluesky's already over-involving itself in censoring certain types of content (human labour) and it's not even monetized yet.I imagine that the original creators of BlueSky wanted its userbase to be Silicon Valley techbros, "e/acc" ("electronic accelerationist") accounts, cryptocurrency enthusiasts, "digital nomads", transhumanists, SpaceX aficionados, and other people who like to talk about numbers a lot. That they instead have to see BlueSky be turned into a cesspit of the rejects of left-wing Twitter must mortify them to some degree.
This isn't a problem AI will solve. Bluesky's users will change their minds about what content is offensive on a monthly basis. A consistent algorithm won't be able to keep lockstep with this type of crowd.
