I updated them to keep the post current. The hearing for the slapp motion is on the 17th so we will see what happens. This is Canada so they may very well win.

I don't think they'll win on SLAPP. From the court documents it's pretty clear that they had a problem with him long before the Psycho Post on Fetlife. They made no attempt to work things out with him before they went public. People who tried to defend him were shouted down and laughed at. They were basing their actions on anonymous complainants which didn't allow for him to defend himself in any way (you literally can't do that in any legal capacity). AND then they got him kicked out of that other group, and replaced him as the leaders. All of that screams malicious intent.

By the way, how did you find the original court documents? I see that he's also suing the girl who wrote the psycho post under a fake name, but the website wanted to charge me 6 bucks to view it. Did you get the docs for free? How do you get them for free? I want to read the docs from the other lawsuits he's filed. I think there are two other ones.

I paid for em because this whole thing is that entertaining to me. Just a heads up its 6 bucks to view the case record and then another 6 bucks to view the documents in that case record. Which is lame. I've spent 24 bucks so far and it's been 100% worth it.

Same shit you see on K&P every other week. Usually those shits will temporarily fuck up attendance for a month or two then it builds back up before the next drama post.

Canada has an entirely different set of laws, I don't think there is a leaf equivalent of SLAPP what with their somewhat different views of free speech and all.

I bet this one goes to trial as long as it survives a motion to dismiss for stupidity. Although, knowing leaf justice, they'll probably fast track it to mediation and a sharing circle for some restorative justice

There was just too much overt maliciousness in the defendants actions to dismiss this case without a trial. I can't find "slapp" when searching the documents... but I don't know how I missed that there's a "scheduled" stamp for the BC supreme court (state supreme court analog) when doing my initial skim.

Looks like BC just passed anti-SLAPP legislation a few months ago, and the response from the consent people was dated about a year ago. Wanna bet it's not retroactive and doesn't even apply despite what the non-lawyer who set up the GFM says?

Any idea how the previous suit turned out and which party keeps pushing this up on appeals? The only thing I'm clear on from the documents is that they're really mad at each other

I think MrTrollenski is actually a Canadian from Vancouver who has a deeper knowledge of the court case than me. Hopefully he can address this next time he shows up. I'll admit I know very little about how their laws work. All I know is that the MVK people are a bunch of cunts who did this for malicious reasons, and that it's pretty obvious to any outside observer with no skin in the game.

It's just a motion to dismiss, I assumed it's the Canadian version of a slapp. I dunno Canadian law at all, but if it overcomes the objection it's going to trial

I am not from Vancouver and only know the players from their fetlife profiles/public postings/court documents. I have however been in the BDSM lifestyle for a bit. The SJW types where here before gamer gate was a thing fucking shit up.

Even before they where a thing, in the long long ago when it was just house parties unless you where in NYC or LA or something, this shit was common. Break up drama, false allegations of abuse, etc. are par for the course. Now with fetlife being a thing it's just handled in a more public way.

The 50 shades thing, and it becoming way more mainstream than ever before, also made it bigger. So people are trying to make a business out of it, like the plaintiff in this case. These people sent him into bankruptcy (in his latest response) so he’s out for blood.

I don't have a fetlife account and am not involved in that lifestyle. I went to one kink-themed party several years ago, but every woman I talked to set off my ClusterB-dar. It's like gaydar, but for crazy chicks. I got the distinct impression that almost every woman who is into this shit is severely emotionally unstable, and getting involved with anyone of them would be a surefire way to collect a bunch of STDs and fake rape charges.

If FetLife is as nuts as you say it is, maybe @Null would allow you to make a FetLife thread in the Community section. You could be our inside guy and post screen caps of the crazy blog posts or something. I think that would be Kiwi Farms worthy.

The latest influx of so-called "Super Lawyers," who appear invariably to be absolute idiots, might be a Community Watch or a thread.

Maybe just set up a Google Alert for news stories featuring the phrase "Super Lawyer" and see if it ends up being something like the "Florida Man" of lawyering.

The BC part of Canada at least does. But the legislation is very new (current year passed, ratified and effective even more recently than that), and these cases were working their way through the courts some time before it was passed. Whether it can be applied to an ongoing case rather than new cases is certainly a question

That is EXCELLENT news tbh. Porn is the only industry powerful enough to put checks in balance over the DMCA, though really they might lose it just because they're suing Google over the false claimants, though if Google isn't doing their job passing it along perhaps not.
