According to that part of the book, Bob's parents were advised to medicate him and they declined, which Bob actually thanks them for. Even today he likely doesn't understand how much a daily pill would help him in life. He genuinely believes that his massive flaws are actually signs that he's a superior intellect to the rest of us and that those issues are helping him instead of being the things that completely destroyed his career.

But I do think he was probably past the point of no return. If you went back to when he started his blog and gave him a DVD that had a documentary about him, analyzing his rise and fall, and pointing out how badly he fucked himself over, he wouldn't change his attitude, he'd just try to do the movie review career again, this time with an unexplained hostility towards all the people who pointed out how retarded he is.

Alcoholics often either become narcissistic through alcohol-induced brain damage, or they were narcissists all along and gravitated to booze because a lot of Narcissists do. Am I missing something or is the syrup rebranding thing about Aunt Jemima removing her from the packaging like a year ago? I remember people being annoyed over the constantly growing list of things deemed politically incorrect, but I don't think anyone really lost sleep over it or anything. It's not like the picture of the old black lady was hurting anyone or reenforcing negative stereotypes. The Aunt Jemima and similarly Land O Lakes removing there packaging icons would have been a nice opportunity for Bob and other SJW types to say "Hey, this is a bit much we don't think everything is racist" but they fall in line and when one person says it is offensive then they all parrot it without thought. FWIW - actual real and serious behavioral issues, like sociopathy or narcissism, usually begin to manifest the first undeniable symptoms in the late childhood/early teen years and, absent effective treatment, become fully-evolved and firmly established by your mid 20's and growing more malignant with time.

It's not proof Bob IS diagnosable with any issues, of course.

Almost none of Bob's mythology about the Thinker States is true. He constantly attacks Texas and Florida for being Believer states when they're the second and third most ethnically diverse states in the country after California, Massachusetts is one of the whitest states period. He's gone to war against Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania for voting Trump in 2016 and never once allowed them back into the fold despite voting for Democratic governors in 2018 and then Biden in 2020 not to mention having three large diverse cities important to his whole narrative.

Bob has an interesting pattern of turning especially snide toward people who have significantly more life experience than himself -- Gary is not just an ex-con, but a husband, father, actual small business owner, and a far more successful YouTuber.
