I'd have to say that most if not all of Bob's heartfelt fans are just as big of Blue Curtain Analysis Cultists as he is. Like the run-of-the-mill English Lit. teacher who teaches people to find symbolism in things that aren't there. (as per the Trope Namer, "The Curtains Were Blue Because The Author Was Sad" (a subtrope of Death of the Author) when the Author said the curtains were Blue for no such reason, the curtains are just fucking blue, dude. No hidden symbolism). That's why you get clapping seals who also see Nazism in any military-style thing, like Halo. Now granted, while I think the Director of Starship Troopers did intend to satirize fascism, I'm not sure the author of the original novel intended so, and the guy's dead so we can't ask him. The militarism in the book has been interpreted as "fascism", but at this point who knows.

The author certainly did not. Heinlein was a World War II veteran who stated he wanted to write a tribute to US Marines and infantry.
If Heinlein wanted to write a satire of fascism, he wouldn't have written a book where the "fascists" pretty much do everything right and successfully fight the aliens back to their homeworld. He'd write a book where they start an unnecessary war and betray a generation of two nations. This is why Verhoeven was a terrible satirist: Robocop kills a lot of people for the same reason Dirty Harry did, and his Mobile Infantry, like Heinlein's, bravely defends the Earth from aliens who want to kill us all.

So, I just saw Robert's pity party video
Not only that, but the movie script left a lot things from the book that has to do with Heinlein's ultra-meritocracy ideals, like the president resigning after the failed attack on the bugs, military enrollment being completely up to the individual, no draft, and anyone can drop whenever they want, and the goverment being openly criticized like it was by Rico's rich and influential father.
I'm not into Heinlein and his ideas, but I tend to see them as I see Ayn Rand's objectivism, self-serving day dreams of what they think utopia should be, but with little to no pratical use and harmless, but as much as love the Starship Trooper movies, putting some silly propaganda movies and Doogie Howser on a Nazi officier cosplay isn't the bitting satire the people behind the movie think it is when we see the very military they are trying to portray as facist as doing things state supremacists would never do.
I just don't see the point in taking a deep dive in the movie. I get it is a satire, but it is weaksauce, and most of the fun of it is the bug killing anyway.
