"Reconstruction" basically went as far as it could. It was doomed to fail in the long run, though, I'd say. I think Bob thinks that every member of the Confederate Army should have been hanged or something. There was no way that was ever going to happen. What actually happened with Reconstruction was fairly harsh and radical as it was, but it was just temporary. Of course, Bob doesn't understand the Civil War at all, being ignorant of history.
