A
Conservative tried running a Private Members' Bill (which tend not to become law but sometimes people get lucky) that would have increased penalties in sentencing to anyone who beat up or killed a pregnant woman. The
Liberals (and
NDP and
Bloc Quebecois) insanely screamed and hollered that this bill was a backdoor method to restricting abortion somehow. Especially since the member who proposed it is in fact, opposed to abortion. The Liberals and the Leafland Leftists in general are absolutely opposed to something that even remotely hints that a fetus is actually a person under the law, let alone worthy of protection by virtue of being a wanted pregancy with someone other than the woman herself ending it for her against her will (so much for 'choice', amirite folks?), even though the Leaf Supreme Court has already irrevocably ruled that a fetus is
not a Person under the Law

(which Bob would rub himself raw over). Ever since Justin Turdeau took control of the Liberal Party, he has insisted that all candidates MUST be wholeheartedly for abortion, no exceptions (and somehow this has also led to the process somehow churning out increasingly sociopathic Liberal Members of Parliament - gee I wonder how
that happened! [/sarcasm])! As such, the entire Liberal Party is entirely fucking hellbent on making sure people who don't believe in abortion are as marginalized as possible - especially charities. They literally want to defund pregnancy crisis centers that do not offer abortions or even speak of the option to a pregnant woman, because
god forbid an abortion that
could theoretically take place,
doesn't happen. They also didn't allow charities to participate in the Student Summer Job program the government has had for many years, if the organizations did not sign an attestation that they
wholeheartedly support abortion. If there's even a sliver of lukewarm mealymouthed noncommittal to abortion, they don't get the government funding to employ students over the summer.
