First of all, what MCU cameos? Dark Phoneix takes place in the 90s meaning it'll predate every MCU movie except if it happened in the middle of Captain Marvel. Okay, maybe a Nick Fury cameo but Bob clearly isn't paying attention to the thing he obsesses about.

Anyways, yeah I could see Bob failing that. He'd probably describe Tony Stark's personality as "billionaire philanthropist and playboy" instead of personality. Art and material culture tends to be pretty ephemeral. I'm interested in silent films but it's not really a common interest and a lot of silent films are crap or just uninteresting (same as in any era). A lot of movies were lost due to neglect and mishandling of volatile nitrate film, but having another Keystone Cops flick isn't going to make anyone more interest on that era. Is Bob really upset that we don't have the Ancient Greek equivalent of Adam Sandler movies? Just because it's "art" or "culture" doesn't mean it's worth preserving.

He was pretty universally despised on the escapist and in sections of the net even before gamergate and their where already calls to fire him. I genuinly think he's going to chaffe under this and constantly try to get shit under the radar, at the same time they're already taking the wrong angle with him. They should be going "look we've all got beef but lets all give each other a chance ." rather than "well fuck you, we're bringing back bob and people who hate him are wrong."
Also escapists strategy is wrong, by making a vocal "anti-politics" statement they're effectively sent the message that they want to go back to an corrupt status quo, people already have IGN for corporate dick sucking news and Polygon already exists for people who'd rather be reading/writting for Vice. Outside of zero punctuation they're just trying to fill a niche which has already been filled.
