Brother, often times crypts will put spouses head-to-head inside. They are pretty deep, and the first to die goes in feet first, then the second goes in head first.

Meh, Barb stopped looking out for Chris a long time ago. Why would she care about her retarded sons funeral arrangements when she's already borrowing from his life insurance.

On the flip side the chance that Chris will have to worry about his own death is minimal, as he will either be destitute or incarcerated at his end. Also I can't imagine who Chris would place in his will as his main beneficiary, as he is so destined to die alone.

Isn't she really thin now? One of the videos from the court date showed her as having lost quite a bit of weight.
Yes, she's just average grandma-size now.

This has made me feel bad about not having my dad's headstone carved yet. The whole grave-visiting thing is not my thing, but I need to get on the stick about the headstone at least. Bob's looks good, kudos to Barb on that at least.

I suspect Bob took care of the headstone business. His date of death is noticeably less worn than the rest of the texts. If she ordered that headstone near Bob's death the dates would have the same wear.

I would agree with you if Chris were more seriously disabled or if his disabilities were likely to cause premature death, but all ween catastrophizing of Chris's health aside, he's pretty obviously going to survive Barb by at least a decade or two. Why would that be her responsibility?

No room for Chris in there tho. Probably gonna end up hanging from a hook in a med school cadaver freezer, most likely.

That thought....is rather horrifying to think about. I really don't want to see Chris wind up like that when he dies.

Thing is, how can they fit two caskets into a space meant for one, unless Bob was cremated and so will Barb after she expires, and they'll stick two urns in there?

Most likely.

It's what happens when someone doesn't have the sense or ability to arrange a pre-need contract at their local funeral home (seriously, people. Go take care of that if you hadn't by now! The younger you are the cheaper it will be). The state may find a pauper's plot to dump you in if all else fails, but they're going to check around with all the nearby crash testing faculties and med schools to see if they need any new stiffs first.

It's weird how Chris is so nonchalant now about the fact that his own Mother is spending away the life insurance that's meant for him after she expires. I'm sure when that day comes and Chris gets a big sack of Zilch as his inheritance, he'll sure take it seriously. That's gonna be one epic Facebook post full of butthurt, I promise you.

I would argue that as a parent who knows thier child is "challenged" she should be making arrangements for their care after they've died.

Barb knows Chris, better then anyone else in the world, she knows he can't handle adult life on his own but I don't think she's made a single plan for Chris after she's gone. Wouldn't a parent who cares want to ensure thier child is looked after once they can no longer watch over them?

I know that if I had a child like Chris (God forbid) I would have already set up plans in case I met my end early by accidental death by making sure he has a responsible guardian lined up, a secure home that paid off or make sure he can get into a group style home so he won't be all alone until his end comes. Plus I'd leave a fair chunk of change to offset any unexpected events that might pop up...say like a house fire for example.

I doubt Barb has done any of these thing and by her record she won't do any. Chris life is hell because she, for what ever reason, decided not to try to help him but to just let him be a man-child for the rest of his life probably because it's easier to humor him then to try to help him grow up.

Chris life is the way it is by 40/60. 40% is his own fault because he is a lazy dumbass but 60% is his parents fault for letting him be that gaint lazy dumbass when they should have done....I dunno, something.

Chris is the perfect storm of fail but in the end he is the one who has to live with that failure even if most of it was someone's else's fault. In 5 or 10 years Barb will be gone and Chris will have wasted what ever piddly amount of money she left behind. He will be all alone, destitute and God knows what else by then. If he thinks life is hell now, well he ain't seen nothing yet.

It's enough to make you cry.

I'm not sure if he'd be eligible. He served in the Army but it was during peacetime.

A VA burial would have been pretty cheap if Bob was eligible, so it would have made sense for the Chandler's to take advantage. This being the Chandler's though... They probably ignored the VA rep and paid full price for everything.

I wonder if any desperate weens attempted any seances or any other occult nuttery to attempt to prank call Bob from the dead.

Oh, sure, this is completely reasonable -- Chris is going to need some kind of support structure when Barb is gone, and Barb has been extremely negligent in terms of acknowledging that need, let alone fulfilling it. I just don't think it's Barb's responsibility to provide funeral arrangements for someone who is going to substantially outlive her and, at least on paper, is broadly mentally capable of understanding and fulfilling that need for himself. (In practice, I agree that financial and social-isolation issues are going to make this yet another failed Quicktime event in Christian Weston Chandler's Adult Chronicles, but Chris is not developmentally disabled to the degree that he can't comprehend his own mortality or engage in mercantile transactions.)

More likely than not, when Chris goes he'llnot have any family or friends to take care of what needs to be done. In situations like that, the state/city comes in and sells off whatever they can in an auction to pay for burial. If it's known who he is, he'll be buried as close as they can get to his wishes if they're written down. If not, he'll be cremated. They hold the cremains for a few years and if they go unclaimed, they're dumped in a common grave with others who died unclaimed that year.
But more than likely some ween will be able to identify and claim him, if they're able to prove they actually knew him. Then again, we don't know whether or not Borb have a plot set up for him somewhere, but probably not.
